Second hand 'older style' brownies uniform?

DD will be moving up from rainbows in September, so need to sort a uniform. For rainbows, I got a second hand bundle for £10, because it's only worn 1h a week and I wasn't sure if she'd stick with it, then it got badges sawn on it, so 3 years later she is still wearing it.

Was considering doing the same again, but as they have just changed the Uniform, there won't be anything avaliable in the new style. Should I suck it up and spend the £50 on a new set, or get a second hand set in the previous style (which they are still allowed to wear)

I'm just going to get the t shirt and the hoodie in the new style and then I will get some brown leggings from somewhere else as the Rainbows leggings didn't wear well.

Our rainbows leader actually told us not to bother getting the rainbows leggings, so everyone just had red supermarket ones, or came in school trousers with just the top half changed.

What size are you getting? I'm going to be putting the badges on the hoodie, so don't want to have to move them, but not sure how baggy I can get away with.

Brownie leader here - there’ll still be plenty of girls wearing the ‘old’ style uniform over the coming years, so feel free to grab a pre-loved bargain! (Also, they were massively reducing the old style stock on the guiding website so you could get brand new at heavily reduced prices too)
There’s no cut-off date for girls to be in the new uniform - the idea is that if they have the old style and it still works for them, then there’s no need to replace it… and if it’s still in good enough condition to pass on to a younger sister or someone else down the line then that’s even better.
If your Brownie does desperately want the new style, remember that all we ask in Guiding is that she be in a Brownie top to be in ‘uniform’, so please don’t feel pressured to buy everything. If buying a hoodie for badges (which I personally love to see them proudly displayed ☺️, but I know some like to go straight to a camp blanket or a memories box which is fine too) then go for the biggest size you can get away with. Sleeves can be rolled up, but if it can last her 3 year journey without you having to unpick and re-sew badges you’ll be thankful!

I’m a leader - old style is absolutely fine!! I know my 4 year old will have the old one from older sister when the time comes! There will be a real mix of those who have old and new style for quite some time. Definitely grab a bundle off Vinted etc. What I do recommend though is a sash for sewing badges, can wear it each week and they don’t outgrow it…. Unlike a hoodie!!

The new sashes are quite good, there’s a little zip compartment ‘bag’, to keep their new badges in safe before they’re sewn or glued on.
