Well going by the amount of copies of his books I see in charity shops the books aren't going to disappear completely for quite some time.
There will still be gazillions in circulation.
I suppose with no new books and no new print runs of his back catalogue there might not be any new fans and the popularity will gradually fizzle out.
Regardless of what he has done/not done or what his personality is....the books are fairly rubbish anyway and the early ones incredibly dated as he uses a lot of pop culture references.

Saw him on Michael McIntyre's Wheel thing a while back and he came across very badly, I thought.

I didn't like Little Britain either - a few funny moments (son used to watch it as a teenager) but overall left a nasty taste. Very teenage boy humour in general and a few sketches were really unpleasant.

The main thing is a set of allegations that surfaced in December 2025. HarperCollins announced it would not publish any new titles by Walliams "after careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO", following reports of alleged inappropriate behaviour towards young women at the company. Former employees told The Telegraph they had been advised to meet him in pairs and not to visit his home. He denies it — his spokesperson said he was never informed of any allegations, was not part of any investigation, and is taking legal advice.
It has escalated since. The BBC said it has no plans to work with him in future, Waterstones dropped him from its 2026 Children's Book Festival line-up, and as of today HarperCollins is reportedly ceasing printing of his existing books — titles like Mr Stink, Gangsta Granny and Ratburger have disappeared from its website along with his author page.
There's also older baggage feeding the story: the 2022 leaked Britain's Got Talent transcript of obscene remarks he made about contestants (he apologised, and settled a lawsuit against FremantleMedia in 2023), and long-running criticism of Little Britain for racist and transphobic content, including an Ofcom finding in 2023 describing one sketch as explicitly racist and outdated.

nobody is having a go at the bbc for airing it in the first place or the British public for loving it but there you go

The fact that he was dropped so quickly from the publisher, agent and others makes me wonder how many people in positions of power over him already knew what he’d done and did nothing until some incidents became public. Basically, I strongly believe that this has been about doing the right thing and everything to do with their bottom line; money and reputation.

That said, I’m glad this odious bastard has been cancelled. It’s no more than he deserves. Also his books are absolute shite to the point that only my eldest has ever read them. We chucked them before the others could discover them. So no great loss to the literary world.

I would imagine it is because this is a women’s discussion forum and David Walliams has been credibly reported to be predatory to women and girls.

Yes, I was thinking this too! Maybe the publishers have decided not to print any more copies partly because they're so extremely easy to buy for 50p a copy, who would buy the new ones?! Do they still print new copies of 50 Shades of Grey - bearing in mind the same situation?!
