Chatty thread whilst waiting for Chernobs 2019

I'm waiting for the Chernobs thread to start - it's my favourite one Grin. I am sure we're all horrendously busy - I'm trying to finish off DS's blanket he ordered for Christmas. But it's mostly Lobelia and I can't see at night for the joining and he's been off school sick this week. Aaaatrrggghhh. However because of that, I have almost finished joining a Kinship hug - ran out of plum for the edging so have to go to wool shop tomorrow.

Have also started my Chernobs blanket but think I've mucked up the colours so may have to do some frogging.

What are you all up to?

Hello Okki!

I hope your son's feeling better now (and that you get time to finish his blanket!). I've just made myself a hat to wear on cold early morning dog walks, I've worked on some Kinship squares and now I'm doing some more for Candy Hugs. They'll be ready to go next month, along with a blanket for Chernobyl. I'll do some squares for that too.

How are your Christmas preparations coming along? It's just food shopping to be done here and I'm waiting for our oldest son's girlfriend to get her work schedule for over Christmas, if she's not working on Boxing Day then she'll come to us, really hoping that happens as she's part of the family!

Happy Christmas to you and all Woolly Huggers xx

Hello Okki
hope your DS is getting better.
I am erm..... in honesty, I have been sewing mostly Blush. I got into the swing for the craft sale , and have been making t shirts and pjs for DGS, and a couple of tops for the DD's . But I have nearly finished for the time being :)
I have done a few Candys squares, and I have a Candys construction ready to do now I have woven in all the peskies Hmm .
I am planning on starting straight after Christmas on Chernobs I think- I have about 3 weeks before I go away on holiday , so hope to get a fair bit done. DD1 and I did two between us last year, but she is sooooo busy, I suspect it will only be one this year, but I will do as many squares as I can .
I haven't got any ideas yet - I have loads of yarn, and topped up when there was a sale, just need to make a decision on a colour palette , which I find the hardest bit!
I am just about sorted for Christmas - just a panetonne and some pies yet to make this week .
You will be needing that hat Madison - it has been so cold here today ! Fingers crossed for your DS's girlfriend :)

Candy's squares here too, but I don't seem to have much yarn of the right palette for them at the monent, tonight my mind did drift onto Chernobs and what I might do for 2019.

Pistey here... I am finishing the blanket I'm making for DS. He is currently officially working the season in Whistler teaching adults how to ski, so relieved and thrilled he passed the instructors assessments! And we get to go, we leave on Saturday, back in the New Year. Lots of snoooooooowwww and my first ever white Christmas!

But I have to finish the blanket, I am kind of thinking if the worst comes to it, we have a 10 hour flight to Vancouver in which to do it! Grin

Hello! Can I join in? Pistey I've got one complete blanket in the airing cupboard - it was going to be for Chernobs but the colours I've used also fit Candy's Hugs. You can have that whenever you want. Also, the 2nd one I'm working on, which is for CH is about 3 weeks from completion so you're welcome to that one too...

FAB news about your son! Well done him. Whistler will be absolutely beautiful. Have a wonderful time.

Well, I might have ordered loads of yarn in Candy and Chernobyl colours over the weekend. Because you can never have too much yarn.

wow TQ - you are going some . ( hope you are holding up okay ) ..I am making slow progress here .
Got a few joins done on the Candys construction , and thats it today .
Meet - I filled up not so long ago, its a bit embarrassing how much SSDK I have in stock atm, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will suddenly realise I need a colour I haven't got enough of !
Pistey - as per TQ - I can get the Candys blanket back after Christmas if you need any before official posting date. - So you will be hooking like fury on the flight eh?

This is it! All ends are woven in. Just not absofinished off. It’s chunky so bloomin hefty. Here it’s a big single bed size with a DC border. When he gets home he wants it to be double bed sized so will be adding to it. Yes 10 hours should see me finished! (In many ways) Gin

Lovely TQ bless you! Keep your Chernob as a Chernob, we do have some here. Just not loads. So maybe a yes please to book on the earlier post, say whenever after the new year?

Never have enough yarn!

Pistey have a fabulous time (and very well done to your son)! We have family, my husband's aunt and uncle, in Vancouver but haven't got out there yet, despite being told we're always welcome. I know I wouldn't see much of him though if we did go and I suspect that one of his mountain bikes would also be on the flight.

The blanket is gorgeous btw. As is your blanket TQ, I hope you're doing okay.

Have a lovely time Pistey

Gorgeous blankets pictures!

I have got to the point where my Snug is ready for construction so will be getting on with that in January.

For the Christmas break I will be doing Candy hug squares and some of the hearts asked for.

Yes Bee's Blankets, the few we have made have had the most wonderful feedback, we are hoping the niece of one will let us share her words, be wonderful to help more folk. And starting a new project on December 19th is always good right??!! Gin

Ooo look you're all over here!

I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas. We have lots of family at our house every year just for the day. Which is mad, but well contained - today's been nice and quiet.

I've been plugging away at the Chernobyl blankets that I had just started at the Hugathon - I'm over half way now. With a little side project in planned pooling, which has become a bit of an obsession. And some squares in primary-type colours which are in a lot of palettes which will get turned into a blanket for one of them at some point.

Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas. The advantage of being away is that Ive done 2 12" and a load of 6" for Candy hugs and half a heart. Off home tomorrow 🎉🎉🎉
