Chatty thread whilst waiting for Chernobs 2019

I'm waiting for the Chernobs thread to start - it's my favourite one Grin. I am sure we're all horrendously busy - I'm trying to finish off DS's blanket he ordered for Christmas. But it's mostly Lobelia and I can't see at night for the joining and he's been off school sick this week. Aaaatrrggghhh. However because of that, I have almost finished joining a Kinship hug - ran out of plum for the edging so have to go to wool shop tomorrow.

Have also started my Chernobs blanket but think I've mucked up the colours so may have to do some frogging.

What are you all up to?

TwitterQueen1 · 09/01/2019 15:52

Forgot to say the brief includes: love, empathy, care, and fun
And to say that KnottyandPistey are the boss ladies.
I am just one of many crocheters (and knitters) and also a grateful recipient of a much appreciated Candy's Hug.

Evening!
phew -I have been trying to get some sewing stuff out of the way, while cracking on with squares on an evening - am on #6 of multi coloured 12" grannies .
Lovely to see people on here
poor cat K&P ...... I haven' t had a cat for many years , but remember vividly the coaxing necessary. Mind you , mine was an addict of yeast tablets of all things ...Grin . Hope biscuits forgives you!
Okki - I am assuming you are all safe and sound back home.
Thistly - they have a website which also has a list of ongoing projects HERE
I should have started on my Bees blanket, but time seems to have gone into overdrive !

Photinia · 09/01/2019 20:23

I've namechanged for this because it's a bit identifying (not that I'm exactly anonymous round these parts!).

This wasn't a WH effort, but it was lovely to see this blanket come together.

MadisonAvenue · 09/01/2019 21:58

Photinia Thank you so much for posting that, what an incredibly sad loss for the community Sad

TwitterQueen1 · 09/01/2019 22:07

What a beautiful letter.

bookbook · 09/01/2019 22:17

oh gosh Photinia - that is such a heartwarming ( and tear jerking ) letter .
How are you - busy crocheting away I am assuming? ( and yes, I am fairly sure I know you! )

Photinia · 10/01/2019 07:43

Yeah, the article says it all better than I ever could. But she was a massive personality and inspirational leader who has taught an awful lot of children in the city over the years. The abbey is going to be packed!

The blanket wasn't even my idea. I was on the verge of nominating her for a Candy's hug, when something popped up on the school Facebook page - we're thinking about making a blanket, can anyone knit or crochet? Well, yes, that would be within my skill set...!

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/01/2019 21:04

Gosh how sad/touching.... Flowers

Please can someone tell me if the CH and hearts are both going to the South Coast?

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/01/2019 15:57

Photina that is so sad Thanks

Is it Teddington Towers for Chernobs?

KnottyAndPistey · 14/01/2019 12:31

That is poignantly beautiful

KnottyAndPistey · 14/01/2019 12:32

Candy's Hugs to Teddington
Hearts to Southsea

Chernob squares to Southsea
Whole Chernob blankets to Teddington

So are we having a new Chernob thread?

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/01/2019 12:46

Thank you! book did come to my aid elsewhere, but I've yet to make it to the PO after all that! Blush

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/01/2019 12:57

@KnottyAndPistey I have (ready to post)

A Chernobs blanket
A Little Hug
A few Chernobs squares
A small hat

Where is best to send them? Do you want separate parcels?

KnottyAndPistey · 14/01/2019 13:00

In that case Woolly - send all to Teddington!

Thank you so so much xxxxx

Okki · 14/01/2019 19:58

Photinia that was a beautiful but sad read. The blanket is gorgeous.

Hope Biscuits is all recovered now.

We've had an interesting first week back. Arrived home 11:30pm with 2 sleeping DC's. Ran up the stairs to turn their beds down before carrying them in to find header tank in loft had overflowed so rather soggy ceiling and landing. DH was not best impressed to have to attempt a fix at that time Grin. Followed by broken overflowing toilet a few days later and then last night my hot water bottle burst in bed. Figured on the decreasing leak level we should be ok going forward Grin🤞

I've got some Candy's squares and a Kinship hug I've joined to post off tomo.

Had anyone seen that update about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe going on a hunger strike. That poor woman. I can't believe it's still dragging on.

@KnottyAndPistey a shiny new Chernobs thread would be grand - I certainly didn't want to derail that when I started this one.

Bearfrills · 14/01/2019 20:37

I saw over on FB that Chernobs 2019 had been announced and came over to look for the chat thread.

Going to have a rummage through my stash while Bear Cub is napping tomorrow and see what colours I have to match the list. Now I've said that its going to be a given that she won't nap.

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/01/2019 13:17

@Okki that sounds like a stressful time!

I've done 20 squares on my Snug so will see how quickly I can move on.

TwitterQueen1 · 15/01/2019 22:48

Could someone please let me have the Teddington Towers address? It's fallen off the bottom of my inbox! Tx

Okki what is with you and water?!!! not the kind of homecoming you want...

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/01/2019 22:49

I'll PM you TQ
