Thoughts?

I know a lot of people think hush is overpriced tat, but this thread is for those of us that still buy the odd thing.

I've had a brief look & like the look of the Christie coat & Cassie dress. Last year I got a dress in the same style of this years clover dress, which I love.

However, the prints this year are awful.

I have given into temptation and had a quick peak (was confining my viewing to the sale only)!

My first thought was that the clothes looked bigger and longer than usual (sleeves pushed up and Tara dress not halfway up thighs). The model is shorter than their standard one at 5ft 7" (by 3 inches) and to me it shows. No harm in that, mind you, I'm interested in seeing it as I am only 5ft 3"!

I was hoping that the Tara dress might come in a navy or burgundy. I already have the green and don't want black or grey so am a bit disappointed.

The Ascot heels however, are stunning and I like the Anais bag as well.

DoorsAndWater · 15/08/2017 10:16

I have the Yasmin dress and Tara in black in my bag! Love the Yasmin

Talisin · 15/08/2017 10:55

Love the Yasmin dress but having tried on the last two variants of it, I know it won't suit me. I like the new teal coloured Tara but I already have last years green one. The Ivy tshirt dress looks good on the model but would look like a tent on me. I'm considering the Felix dress but it looks a little short. Nothing is really standing up shouting buy me! Buy me! so far.

I am however glad they've changed models.

burnishedsilver · 15/08/2017 11:03

I see what you mean about the shorter model Martin. I like it. It gives me a better idea of how the clothes would look on me.

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/08/2017 11:16

I love the Love jumpers, but my experience with Hush knitwear has been terrible, and I wouldn't pay that for them. I will probably buy another black ruched skirt, because I think they are such useful items. My overall feeling with Hush is that they do jersey basics really brilliantly - I bought the lightening bolt sweatshirt back in February and it is fab - but the things which should be their strongest suit, lovely knitwear, just don't wear well enough to justify the price. (I bought the Breton jumper last year, and it was perfect, but after a couple of washes it was a disgusting mess and was quickly relegated to wearing with leggings round the house.)

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 15/08/2017 11:44

Yy Judy knitwear is very hit and miss. I find that in a lot of shops (glaring at Mint Velvet).

I have two of the Stellar jumpers and because of their high cotton content they still look great. I have a wool jumper from Hush which has pilled really badly though. Lovely colour so I will try to rescue it to wear this winter.

There's a running joke in our house that my clothes (not only wool) have to be hand-washed separately by virgins in ass's milk. At those prices though I am not bunging them in with the normal gear!

miffy2 · 15/08/2017 16:34

Agree with the jersey=good, wool=bad when it comes to Hush.

I'm loving the new stuff and have a few items in my basket.

Ashley trousers in charcoal, Que Sera Sera tshirt, Erica knit top. If it's similar to the black (thin) knit dress from last year it will be gorgeous.

I'd love more harems in navy or maybe the Amie for a change. I live in my harems on the weekends.

needastrongone · 15/08/2017 17:06

I've had a browse given I'm on holiday, but trying a self imposed spending ban.

I'm a tad underwhelmed. The things I like (the knitwear mainly) are just way overpriced. Things look rather oversized, I'm 5ft and tiny framed so most would look insane on me. Although, I've had no issues with their knitwear in fairness. It's just overpriced really.

I agree with Judy, the jersey stuff seems weirdly good value and quality compared to some of the other pieces which are entirely the opposite. I might indulge in a rushed skirt for winter at some point. The sweats are good too. These things are their strong points. I've also got a couple of pairs jeans which are great.

However, that being said, I've had to return 3 T Shirts from this summers collection. All have developed holes. In fairness, there's been no quibble at a full refund each time. The material was super thin for £35. I started thinking it was me, but no other T that any of my family own had such a thing happen and we are essentially a family of 4 adults, given the DC's ages. No T Shirts from Hush for me ever again. They were the lightening bolt, one with tiny stars that I loved in particular and one with a heart.

Damn IPad autocorrectSmile

PickleSarnie · 15/08/2017 17:13

I had a bit of a girl crush on the old model. Despite it all being a bit depressing that the clothes would never look as good on me

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/08/2017 18:42

I bought the star jumper, and got this link for £10 off (new customers/new email only):

JuneFromBethesda · 15/08/2017 18:59

I'm underwhelmed (fortunately as I'm currently skint). There's really nothing that jumped out at me. Maybe I'll feel differently as autumn kicks in and I get the urge to buy new clothes ...?

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 15/08/2017 19:03

Oh lovely Judy which colourway did you go for?

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/08/2017 19:10

martin I should have said sweatshirt, not jumper - it's pale grey with a navy star. (I wouldn't buy actual jumpers there again.)

BuzzKillington · 15/08/2017 19:23

I have ordered the skinny lightning scarf. Got 10% off and free p&p with A17PREVIEW.

JessiCake · 15/08/2017 19:41

Thanks OP for starting this! I was just about to come on and ask for opinions of Hush, particularly the Ivy dress which I will now try and link to but may fail spectacularly!!

www.hush-uk.com/womenswear/daywear/dresses_skirts/ivy_dress_black.htm

I'm a tall size 10(ish) and, having lost weight since last winter, enjoyed wearing cocoon-style dresses this summer. It's not a shape I'd have tried before I slimmed down as it would have made me look much larger.

But do you style mavens think it's a nice dress? I'd probably go for the black as green makes me look ill and I'm not sure about the burgundy... I'd wear it with ankle boots and thick tights from about October, just day wear. I'm a freelance SAHM so don't need more tailored looks, I just fancy an easy dress for autum and winter.

Not very flush at the moment so don't want to make a mistake even if it is only about £60.

Also how's the quality? I do NOT like synthetics in general but it's got a good amount of cotton and I don't mind modal as much as polyester etc which I avoid like the plague.

Never bought from Hush before and I know it gets pretty bad press on here but I do like the look of this dress - it has POCKETS!! (I love a dress with pockets, I do)

JW13 · 15/08/2017 19:47

I have seen the old model modelling maternity wear on a couple of websites - it freaks me out as I associate her so strongly with Hush and it's strange to see her pregnant!

Perhaps she'll be back next season.

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/08/2017 19:54

jessi I like it, but think it could run the risk of looking a bit shapeless. If you use the code buzz posted above you will get free returns if it's no use.

JessiCake · 15/08/2017 19:55

Thanks judy and thanks for the code! I will order and try it on, it's the only way with something like that.

I'm very angular so if it fits well I kind of like the shapeless look Grin but it's also all about what I actually wear with it too.

Will order and have a try-on.

Thanks!

fivefour3twoone · 15/08/2017 22:53

Was worried I was gonna love it all and have to spend loads of money(!) but am completely underwhelmed by it all. Great news for my bank balance.
Same with Boden this season.

fivefour3twoone · 15/08/2017 22:54

Oh and I am not liking the new model at all :-( Think that's putting me off most of it!

Beadieeye · 16/08/2017 11:07

I've just ordered from here for the first time. Got the Ivy dress in black and a few dresses from the sale. Fingers crossed they are nice, but worried about the sizing!

I adore the blue and black lace midi skirt, esp the way they've styled it with the relaxed black jumper and ankle boots. Just can't see it suiting my figure tho. Envy

captainfunderpants · 16/08/2017 19:44

Recently discovered Hush and bought some great things a few months ago. The harem joggers in regular length and cropped, and some t-shirts.

I'd love to try the Tara dress but just wondering if anyone's bought it and found that it rises up all the time? There's a reviewer who's complained about that and I would hate to be yanking it down all day!

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 16/08/2017 19:44

I saw quite a few potential things but the erratic sizing puts me off. Think it might be a trip to JL first to try things on and then order - there's that 10% off code at the moment and as I've learnt from Hush, that's as good as it gets.
