Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@Pancakes7 really lovely idea creating this. As like you, I’m not ready to join other groups but don’t want to ask pregnancy questions on the TTC page.

Aw lovely to know a bit about you. I’m 27, no children yet but unfortunately had 4 losses. Two missed miscarriages and two early chemicals.

I got my real positive today at 10 DPO so very early days and trying not to get my hopes up but I feel so pregnant. Boobs are killing and just want to cry a lot 😂

Oh I forgot to mention my husband!! How awful is that 😂. Married, and been with my husband for 5 years.

Lovely thread, a little bit ahead of us but @bellabubble may want to join too 😊

Bit of background on me... I’m 31 and this will be baby #1. I was on the pill for around 14 years and came off it almost a year ago but we didn’t start TTC until October 2020, we managed to get pregnant first time but I found out I was having a MMC on 25th November when the baby stopped growing at 8 weeks and I should have been 9. I then booked in for surgical management on the 8th December, had a ‘period’ 4 weeks after that which was very light and odd, and lasted for 8 days and I didn’t know if it even counted as one! I then got a peak ovulation test two weeks after that, and then got my BFP two weeks after that, which was last Monday 1st February.
Bit odd for me as my body hadn’t adjusted to stopping the pill and I had 34-45 day cycles until I got pregnant, yet since my surgery it seems I would have had two 28 day cycles if that really was my period!
My last pregnancy I was anxious from the get go. I thought I was just shocked at how quick it happened but I never managed to shake that feeling of something being wrong. I had an early scan believing I was 7 weeks but measured at 6+2, I had confirmed ovulation but thought my dates might have been off somehow and I saw a heartbeat so tried to shake it off. I don’t feel like the scan gave me the reassurance I thought it would and I was still really anxious. I then went for my ‘12 week scan’ at 9 weeks (due to my last LMP when in fact that was a 45 day cycle for me and I had put that on the form). Really glad I went ahead didnt change it or id have been waiting much longer to find out the bad news!
This time round I’m feeling much more positive surprisingly! I was shaking when I found out and burst into tears when I told my husband and I’ve been feeling really good so I’m really hoping and praying that this is a good sign for me!
Symptom wise I had completely different ones before my BFP as last time (previously back ache, bloating and my boobs were really sore). This time it was heartburn, more cramps and then still bloating. Since then I have still had bloating, lots of gas (annoyingly!), boobs aren’t sore but feel fuller and tender, I’m quite tired but can’t figure out if I just need more sleep, and every now and again I feel a bit nauseous but have convinced myself I’m imagining it 😂
I’m 5+2, and have an early reassurance scan next Sunday when I’ll be 6+6, hoping to see a heartbeat, and then all being well the EPU have said I can call them at 7 weeks and book a scan with them when I’m 9 weeks as that’s when I found out last time.

Thanks for reading my essay 😂

@Pancakes7 thanks for the group. I’m literally taking it day by day! So, I am 37 and have been married for 3 years together for 5 this summer. I got pregnant with my first last May but ended in MC any had my ERPC in July. Praying this one will stick. It’s my birthday in Oct so this would be a lovely surprise for me. I’ve got my doctors appointment tomorrow xxx

I’d love to join this group! I’ve been sort of loitering in another group pregnant after mc group but they are so much further on than me (some even giving birth in next couple of weeks) that it’s not very helpful for me as I’m still super anxious!

I’m 36, been married 1.5years but together 8.5 years. This will be our first child - we started ttc Jan last year and fell pg first try, but I never felt teuly confident in that pregnancy. I started spotting at 8+2, so had a scan at EPU where I was measuring a little over 5weeks. I had to wait for another 2 weeks, but I knew my dates weren’t out, and I mc naturally and then they confirmed it was a mmc (ironically, most of my symptoms occured after the pregnancy had stopped progressing!)

It then took 8cycles and we fell again in Sept last year, I booked an early scan where I should have been 9 weeks, but it was 6+6 and just an empty sac (anembryonic pregnancy) which I meeded surgical management for. We got our third bfp this Jan - and initially I felt so much more positive! I had this crazy calming feeling come over me randomly one nogjt where I just felt like everything was going to be ok. That being said - I am still anxious! I currently feel pretty sick most of the time, which I haven’t had before - it’s sort of ranges from I’m really hungry sick (even though I’m not) to feeling like there’s a lump in my throat! Luckily so far I haven’t been sick though! I’m also tired (but I’m in school everyday working so could be that) and although my boobs aren’t aore like before I’m busting out of my bra already 😕 inbetween all of this, 2 of my close froends have had their babies (one a week before my first baby would have been due, and the other just last week!) so there’s been some weord feelings around all that!

Sorry for the long post lol!! Fingers crossed for us all 🤞🏻🤞🏻 X

@Bellabubble I completely get the nervousness. Try and not over think. Being busy at work is probably a good thing atm. Days should go quicker, hopefully.

I'm feeling weirdly calm too though. I think I'm just in protection mode atm. I'm just really hoping everything goes ok this time 🤞🏻 it's kind of nice I've got my BFP the month I was due. Weirdly my son was due the month I had my first mmc.

@PumpkinEverything @Bellabubble aw so glad you are feeling positive about this pregnancy, and weirdly enough I feel totally the same. After 4 losses I am finding myself thinking, why do I feel positive and excited but then for some reason I have this total sense of calm and 'this is the one', which I have never felt before. I may be wrong but being positive makes it easier to cope.

@Pancakes7 Also lovely you are feeling calm too. Best way to be. Stress can play havoc with hormones so as calm and relaxed you can be, the better!
It also is really nice that its happened in your due date, it doesn't help the sadness but at least it cheers up an otherwise very sad time.

This time round, the EPU are going to put me on progesterone injections and I am taking aspirin. Does anyone know anything else that can be done as a preventative measure for another miscarriage?

@Firevie good luck tomorrow with the docs!

I looked in that group too @Bellabubble and thought the same and just feel like it’s much easier when people are closer in time! How far along are you now?
It’s weird, that’s how I feel too @Strawberry08 @Pancakes7 where I’m like calm and I feel good about it all, but then I’ll get a random anxiety moment which I think is me trying to protect and prepare myself for the worst. Just really trying to focus on that calm and positive side instead and hope that it’s the correct one!

@Strawberry08 Have you phoned EPU today then? That's good they're giving you things to help. I've just ordered 3 months of pregnacare tablets lol. I just want to be taking everything I can. I'm going to try and up my healthy eating too. I already stopped having my Pepsi max, which I did drink way too much of.

@Strawberry08 I have unofficially been taking 75mg of aspirin each day, which I’m going to do until 14weeks (I think someone on the ttc thread had been told to do that by the private fertility clinic they had gone to) but I don’t qualify for progesterone - the results from using it look really positive though!! When I had my early scan with the private lady (who was an ex-midwife) she said low b12 (mostly common in vegetation/vegans) and low vitamin d had been linked to recurring mc - I have taking an extra vitamin d supplement on top of my pregnancy vits - but they had a fairly good dosage of b12 in them anyways so haven’t taken an extra of b12. I did whilst trying to conceive though!

@PumpkinEverything I’m 7+3 today - and have an early scan booked this Sat 🤞🏻

@Bellabubble ah great thank you, I was told vitamin d as well by a private clinic so I’ll get some of that on too of pregnacare. I’m on 150mg of aspirin (nhs advise and private clinic) and going to do progesterone injections.
May as well go all in and try the lot!

Oh huge good luck for your scan 😊 x

@Bellabubble Thanks for the info. I've been taking folic acid for ages and started vitamin d about a month ago. But I'm going to switch to the pregnacare I think. Maybe I'll take the vitamin d on top of it? You don't take extra folic acid though?

@Pancakes7 I have been taking extra up jntil now (just ran out today and my usual brand is out of stock 😩) but my pregnancy vitamins have the correct daily dosage anyways so I might leave the top up for now! It was only an extra 25mg - and I do a 30min playground duty each day so I guess I get some vitamin d that way too? I haven’t taken extra folic acid - I think the Dr’s suggest that if you have a bmi above 30, have a family history of nueral defects, are on epilepsy meds or have diabetes.

@Strawberry08 I was considering upping from 75mg to 150mg - but my Dad has diverticulitis, and aspirin is a huge no no, and my mum was worried as it can be hereditary!

Thank you for the good luck wishes - I am nervous, but do feel more optimistic than before! Having read on other threads - it seems like it goves you a little bit of respite from the worry, but I’m hoping as it would only be about 4 weeks until the 12 week scan that it will see me through!

I’m on pregnacare as well, and was taking the conception ones beforehand as soon as I found out about my MMC.
I’m 5+2 and due 11th October 🤞🏻
We’ve been doing hello fresh this year which has helped with healthier eating. I’d stopped regular coffee last time and then tried to keep at it this whole time but had the odd one, now back on decaf full time and watching my fizzy drinks, although I never had many of them to begin with anyway.
Good luck with your scan on Saturday @Bellabubble can’t wait to hear how you get on and will be thinking of you 😊

@PumpkinEverything Yes I'm having decaf tea and I'm not really a coffee drinker anyway. Ooh good date. Your due date it our relationship anniversary. (Wedding is 7th Oct)
