Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@gizmo167 I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I really hope all is ok. It could be nothing. Big hugs.

@gizmo167 I'm sorry you're not feeling right. Could you call the EPU in the morning?

@Strawberry08 Thank you. My consultant is NHS - I was referred after my third MC/MMC, and got the first appointment through in 6 weeks. I'm very grateful.

@Firevie I'm on progesterone too. How are you finding it? My husband says I'm a little moody, so is giving me a wide berth. And I don't think I've quite got the knack of inserting it, as one pessary slipped out this morning Blush

I managed to get my booking appointment sorted today. I was going to wait until I was a little further along, so I don't have to call back to cancel if things went wrong, but changed my mind.

Pancakes7 · 11/02/2021 19:05

@marplemead I have never needed to phone and cancel appointments. Nhs sort that for you. Or they do here. Both mmc's I never heard anything further regarding my appointments.

Wouldn't matter, I wouldn't be 6 weeks so they wont see me, really feel its over

marplemead · 11/02/2021 19:16

@Pancakes7 Thank you, that's good to know. I don't think I had to do anything with my first MC as it happened in A&E. But my second MC happened at home, so I called the midwives to let them know. But you're right, I probably didn't need to after my MMC, as it would have updated on the system. No one really tells you what to do when it happens.

I'm really hoping for a decent night's sleep tonight. I thought last night was going to be okay, but then got woken up at 3am with the smoke alarm ringing next door (which is currently empty), because the battery needed replacing. Husband and DD slept through the hours of intermittent ringing. I have been very irritable today.

marplemead · 11/02/2021 19:21

@gizmo167 sorry, missed your reply. Discharge/ brown spotting doesn't necessarily mean it's over. Is that how it started for you last time?

Strawberry08 · 11/02/2021 19:26

@gizmo167 sorry to hear you are feeling funny. Spotting not necessarily a problem! I would call the EPU when you can for reassurance. In what way do you not quite feel right? x

PumpkinEverything · 11/02/2021 19:27

@Bellabubble that is reassuring to know you’ve felt the same, as what you’ve said is exactly how I feel as well. Just feels like it’s going to be so hard to get through to next Sunday!

Ah @gizmo167 😔 I would give EPU a ring anyway to see what they say. As far as I know I think brown blood or that tinge is old blood and may not be a cause for concern. It’s more if it’s fresh and red that it may be an issue, and even then that might not mean anything. Might just be worth giving them a ring and mention about what happened around this stage last time and that you’re concerned

Strawberry08 · 11/02/2021 19:29

@Pancakes7 I am going to try and wait until first one at 8 weeks. I want to try and avoid doing an internal scan if I can. My miscarriages always measured around the time I had the scan when they were picked up. So I have this horrible thought that it’s related when it almost definitely isn’t but just to be safe. So I’m going to try and wait until 8 weeks.
Aw don’t panic, it’s stressful to think about. Take every day as it comes. Allow yourself to have the worrying thoughts and then put them to the side. And also let yourself be positive and excited!! I figure that positive and excited won’t make it any harder if I miscarry but it does make it easier to get through this early bit x

Hello can I join! EDD 20th October. Digital test is saying 2-3 weeks. Has anyone had a blood test to measure the concentration of hcg in their blood to see if it lines up with gestation? Or a bit pointless?!

Pancakes7 · 11/02/2021 19:56

@gizmo167 You can phone NHS direct? I did that with my first mmc. It could be nothing to worry about. I'm thinking of you 🤞🏻

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 11/02/2021 19:57

@Strawberry08 Yeah I might wait till 8 weeks. I think they sometimes still need to do an internal at that point. But can try external. I know what you mean in a way. Anything you did at the time of my, you'll associate with it. So the worry is completely understandable.

Pancakes7 · 11/02/2021 20:52

@brushlaptop Welcome and congratulations. No I've never had blood tests for hcg checks.

Can I tentatively peek around the door? I had a positive on a frer today but just done the one test.

I'm 32, dh is 40, we have two daughters and had a mmc in December. I had surgical management and then needed medical due to retained products so the lovely consultant has kept me on her books and I actually have a cycle review appointment with her next Thursday so I'm going to aim to wait for bloods then.

I'm in a weird state. Neither anxiety nor excitement just sort of parked it. I guess denial?? But I'm so so happy to have virtual hands to hold.

Pancakes7 · 11/02/2021 21:09

@dippyegg32 Hello! So happy to see you here! I'm the same as you. Sort of in denial, protection mode. I'm not anxious or excited or anything. It's all bubbling beneath the surface I think. I do feel nauseous which I think is the anxiety. I think I'll stay like this till a scan. I know that when that's close I'll be freaking out. 🤞🏻🌈

Sending virtual hugs @Pancakes7 I think I'll get a digital tomorrow then I'll know either way. My only "symptoms" are a few spots on my face and chest when I've normally got clear skin and I had a monster migraine on Monday. Bloody not going to sleep a sodding wink tonight now!!

Pancakes7 · 11/02/2021 21:34

@dippyegg32 I was like that the first night after the faint BFP. I kept waking and thinking is it morning so I can do another test yet? lol. I got up at 4am in the end 😂 I was going to wait till Saturday to do the digital as that's when I thought my af would come. But I randomly decided late morning to do it. I figured if it didn't work I'd buy more lol. I'm so glad I did it though. It has let me confirm it. Virtual hugs to you too. Let me know how your digital test goes tomorrow.

Welcome @dippyegg32 and congrats! Sure you’ll be up bright and early tomorrow. 😁 my skin broke out badly during my TWW as well. It went nuts after the surgical management and then had just about started to clear before my TWW and then it came back again.

dippyegg32 · 12/02/2021 05:18

Ahh I've been wide awake since 4.30. I want more sleep!!

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 05:51

@dippyegg32 I kept waking up, then was up at 3am for about 50 minutes. I couldn't get back to sleep for ages. My sons woken me up at half 5. Tired!!!

OP posts:
dippyegg32 · 12/02/2021 05:53

Today's going to be a looong day. Temp still high over 37 this morning. I just want to get to Tuesday when I'm due on

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 06:05

@dippyegg32 Did you test again this morning?

OP posts:
dippyegg32 · 12/02/2021 06:10

Not yet will do now. I'm trembling though

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 06:22

@dippyegg32 I'm sure I'll be a darker line 🤞🏻 Is this your first cycle since your mc. Have you had an af yet?

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 06:23

@brushlaptop Welcome and congratulations. I've not had testing for HCG before so can't help on that. Some great ladies here for support.
