Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

Hi everyone. Congratulations on your BFPs. May this be our sticky bean and a healthy pregnancy.

Thank you@Pancakes7 for creating the thread. A lovely idea!

Im 24, married 2.5yrs. TTC DC1 since May2019. This is my 3rd pregnancy, the first 2 were losses (CP + MMC).

This time round I got my BFP although very faint on 23 Jan. Approx, 13DPO. It continued to get darker as the days went on. Finally confirmed it with a CB digital a few days later.

On 31 Jan I started lightly spotting which turned into heavier spotting. I went to EPU on 3 feb where a internal scan was done but unfortunately showed no pregnancy. At this point I was told I have a pregnancy of unknown location (PUL). The same day I had a blood test to check hcg and progesterone. 5 feb, i returned to EPU for second set of bloods to check if HCG had doubled. Which it nearly did. I was then asked to return the following wednesday (today) for another scan. This time, a gestational sac was seen in the uterus. But still empty. According to my HCG and size of sac, I was told I’m measuring to be 4weeks in. Which doesnt add up with my LMP or ovulation but I’m just pleased to see some progress since last week.

Unfortunately the spotting is still continuing. Its now been 11days since it started. Not heavy, not clotting. But fairly constant. So I’m still feeling very anxious about it all.

I have been asked to return in 2 weeks for another scan which would hopefully give the pregnancy enough time to progress and confirm viability.

I feel like a single loss can change your perspective on future pregnancies, let alone any more. Sending lots of strength to all you lovely ladies. May we stay sane in this process! Xx

@Pancakes7 October is a busy month for you then! Could potentially have an early baby one of those days 😊 I don’t mind decaf coffee, but the only annoying thing is I now have a lot of regular coffee pods and my husband doesn’t use them 😂

PumpkinEverything · 10/02/2021 19:03

Sorry to hear about how complicated this has been for you @NI101 😔 I’m glad to hear theres been some progress and I really hope there’s further when you go back in two weeks time!

marplemead · 10/02/2021 19:13

Hi all, can I join please? I started a similar thread today, but this was the one I needed.

I'm 36 and have a DD. I had a MMC in December, and I've had two MCs prior to this. I started TTC again the cycle after my first AF, and now 4+2. I am lucky to be consultant led this time, and started on Progesterone yesterday. I had a scan yesterday too, and everything looked as it should - having another scan in 2 weeks, and then 2 weeks after that.

I'm feeling less anxious with the extra monitoring, but too scared to get excited, even though the consultant said that my chances of having a 4th miscarriage is low.

Pancakes7 · 10/02/2021 19:13

I'm so sorry to read how difficult it's been recently. I really hope it's good news at your next scan. I hope the wait goes quickly for you too. I know the waiting is awful.

Sorry I meant to tag @NI101 in my last message.

@marplemead Hello, I just started this thread today too. It's good to have people who've been through the same thing to talk to. I'm sorry for your losses. Great you're having monitoring this time round. I hope all goes well. How are you feeling? Many symptoms?

OP posts:
marplemead · 10/02/2021 19:17

NI101 I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope the time until your next scan goes quickly.

marplemead · 10/02/2021 19:25

Thanks Pancakes
Is struggling to sleep a symptom? I keep waking up at midnight, which happened in my last pg too. I don't have any other symptoms, but they tend to start around 6 weeks for me, so I'm not too worried.
I had a lot of time to overthink and worry in my last pg, but I'm very busy with work at the moment, so that has stopped me from knicker checking every 5 mins!

NI101 · 10/02/2021 19:37

@Pancakes7 @PumpkinEverything @marplemead thank you ladies. I’m just trying to take each day as it come which sounds great in theory but difficult in practice.

@marplemead pleased to hear you are being monitored. I hope that gives you added reassurance about the whole process.

So when is everyone EDD?

Mine is 5 October based on LMP. But this will change based on what happens over the next few week.

Pancakes7 · 10/02/2021 19:55

@marplemead That's good that works keeping you busy. I'm on furlough with my son. So some days can drag. I normally meet other mums and see my mum to keep busy. However it's snowed this week so one not been out. I can't wait till the snows gone! The waking up in the V night could be a symptom. But it could also be due to anxiety about the pregnancy. I woke up multiple times last night as I couldn't wait to test lol. I ended up getting up at 4am! I couldn't get back to sleep.

@Strawberry08 Yours look similar to mine. I think I must be 10DPO too rather than 9DPO. Aww nice we have the same due date! I really hope these babies stick! 🤞🏻🌈

@Pancakes7 aww it’s nice we have the same due date!! Fingers all crossed 🤞 x

PumpkinEverything · 10/02/2021 22:29

After me saying I was feeling calm and positive I’m having an anxious moment again tonight 😔 been feeling fine all today and then I felt like I had a few random poking cramps, but like lower down? And now it’s getting me really worked up and I’m starting to wonder if my back is sore as well. I know there’s no point googling it (but I probably will anyway) as I’m just going to freak myself out

Bellabubble · 10/02/2021 22:33

@PumpkinEverything lower back and cramping can be an early pregnancy symptom - apparently there’s increased blood flow to the uterus which can cause cramping, and you get twinges as the uterus starts to stretch x

Lisyloo725 · 10/02/2021 22:45

Hello everyone!! I’d love to join!!
I got my BFP a week ago (officially missed AF on Saturday just gone).
This will be my THIRD DC! I say that with hope, as I unfortunately had a MC in July last year and an ectopic in October 😣
Here we go again - things do feel a bit different this time - I can’t explain how - but just do.
I have an early scan booked for the 22nd when I’ll be 6+3 so like earlier posters, really hope I can see bubs in the right place (!) as well as a little beating heart.
I’ve just turned 40 so seeing this as my last chance - have a DS aged 6 and a DD aged 3 already - but would love a ‘big’ family!
DH and I have been together 11/12 years married for 10. Nice to meet you all!!
My mantra is: no bleeding = everything is surely ok.
Ps. That’s not to say that bleeding means doom - my losses just began that way so I avidly check the tissue each time I wipe and tell myself that I’m one wee closer to that post-c-section wee in 8 months time!! 😃
Good luck all!

PumpkinEverything · 10/02/2021 23:00

Hopefully that’s all it is @Bellabubble just getting myself a bit worked up 😔 whenever I looked back after finding out about my MMC I remember getting up off the sofa to go to the kitchen and got a shooting pain up there as if I felt like I couldn’t walk, and then again another time. All very short and quick but sore. And that would have happened around the time the baby stopped growing. And now I think any sort of vaginal type pain panics me a bit. Hoping I can just get a good sleep and calm myself and be feeling okay in the morning.

Pancakes7 · 11/02/2021 06:00

@PumpkinEverything I'm so sorry you're feeling anxious. We will all get days like this. But try and keep positive I am trying to remind myself that me worrying won't change the outcome. So it's better to think positive and hope for the best. Remember it is highly likely you'll have a healthy pregnancy this time. I hope you slept ok. I went to bed early at 10 as I woke up at 4! lol

Welcome @Lisyloo725 . I'm sorry for your losses. I also had an MMC in July last year. Good luck for your scan coming up. I hope the weight goes quickly for you. How are you feeling? Any symptoms?

Thanks @Pancakes7 I need to keep reminding myself of that! I did sleep actually as I was really tired yesterday from being up earlier than usual, still feel tired this morning and my stomach is churning a bit 😔 I had a gut feeling something was wrong last time and now I’m going between wondering if that’s what’s happening again or if my anxiety is just taking over!

gizmo167 · 11/02/2021 09:18

Hi everyone x

Background from me, I'm 42, 43 next month! I have a DD who is currently 7, was married for 13 years but lost husband 5 years ago to suicide. Met my childhood sweetheart 2 years ago and we started a relationship. Got a surprise BFP last January but unfortunately mc at a day off 6 weeks. I have PCOS so it took 3 years to conceive with my DD so needless to say with my age and the PCOS I was completely in shock at the BFP!

Havent been ttc with any great vigour, just the if it happens attitude and was surprised when at CD26 this cycle I had a bleed which I thought was AF coming very early but it was one bleed and then nothing. CD30 I decided to test and got a really faint line, waited until CD33 and got a positive on CB and still faint on IC. Become a bit obsessed with the line quality as some of you know but they have definitely got darker!

Symptom wise, well I reckon 5w 4d or thereabouts given my cycles, all I have is sore boobs, feel the need to swallow more, tired but cant sleep at night, tiny bouts of nausea at times but thats it! Dr wont do bloods to check hcg levels as I dont have any bleeding so its very much a wait and see for me!

imisscoffee · 11/02/2021 09:21

Hi everyone, I'm so sorry about your losses. It's a shitty club to belong to and certainly takes the sparkle away from pregnancy a little, but I'm so glad I found this thread.

I had my bfp yesterday, so according to the NHS calculator I'm due either 11th or 18th Oct as I don't know how long my cycles are. I have been testing daily since my period was due a week and a half ago and only just got two faint lines yesterday. I lost my son at 17 weeks in November, and my period only returned in January so I don't have much to base my cycles on. I've also got DD (6) and DS (5). This pregnancy is a real mixed bag of emotions and I've only known less than 24 hours, so I'm hoping speaking to like-minded people will help.
