SearchingTheSkies · 16/04/2020 15:43

Thank you for the new thread!

Hope everyone's having a good Thursday.

Does anyone else feel like they're constantly swigging gaviscon?

LillianFullStop · 16/04/2020 15:46

@SearchingTheSkies is that for heartburn? I think I need that... oh so glamorous pregnancy is!

Gigitree · 16/04/2020 15:48

@SearchingTheSkies mostly at nighttime. I have a huge bottle permanently on my bedside table!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 16/04/2020 15:54

@SearchingTheSkies with my son i was getting through a large bottle a week and by the end of pregnancy. And yes like an alcoholic i was swigging it straight from the bottle. Ive only got through 2 bottles so far this pregnancy!

@LillianFullStop @Gigitree Yes for heartburn. It's fast becoming my drink of choice! Can't believe how hoarse the acid is making my throat. What a delight!

Smiffette · 16/04/2020 16:05

Yeah I'm constantly on the Rennie! That's the one thing that has stuck around through my whole pregnancy!

APD1981 · 16/04/2020 16:08

Thanks for setting up the new thread!

I am chewing Rennies all the time now. Not a fan of Gaviscon and the Rennies are still doing their job.

As for feeding, my sister ended up combi feeding her first as he was a hungry baby and he just wasn't settling at night without a big formula feed. It worked well for her as her DH would stay up and give him a late bottle feed whilst she slept then she would do the nights so he could sleep and go to work. I am not saying I'm aiming for this because if baby is fine EBF then great but if not, fed is best. I've got an Aptimil starter pack with 6 sterilised bottles for the hospital, just in case, and a tin of Mamia formula for home, just in case. Apparently, because the laws around baby formula are so strict, it doesn't really matter which brand you get. Aldi is £5 a tin cheaper than Aptimil but the exact same ingredients!

Gigitree · 16/04/2020 16:08

@AndddddHerewegoagain haha I chug it straight from the bottle especially when I wake up in the middle of the night with awful indigestion!

Blizy · 16/04/2020 16:21

Thanks for the new threads

MsMiaWallace · 16/04/2020 16:26

Checking in. Thanks for the new thread.

umabb · 16/04/2020 16:36

Thanks foe the new thread x

Girlinajumpsuit · 16/04/2020 17:08

I was given a tip for heartburn as was suffering with it all day and all night from about 20 weeks - doctors can prescribe medication for it; omeprazole I think its called. I take it every day and havent needed a gaviscon since ( which was barely helping tbh anyway)

Rinoa · 16/04/2020 17:10

I have no idea why or how, but the pgp seems to better now .maybe it's the warmer weather or maybe as I'm trying to be more aware of tightening pelvic floors when moving into a painful position.

Gigitree · 16/04/2020 17:24

That’s really good @Rinoa
I had a week or so where my PGP was loads better, but then I think I slept in a funny position and sat on a hard chair for 2 hours whilst doing my glucose test and it came back 😞

I’ve just watched a video on breastfeeding from the positive birth company. It’s free on their YouTube page if anyone is interested. There’s two videos, one is an overview and the second one is more troubleshooting.

AnonyHB · 16/04/2020 17:36

Thanks for the new thread! Wonder if this will be the last one before the babies start arriving?!

Cornishbumpkin · 16/04/2020 17:39

Thanks for the new thread Grin gosh @AnonyHB that's a scary thought lol

BabyBird20 · 16/04/2020 18:21

Thanks for the new thread!! I reckon we'll fill another one before we've all popped!!

Magpiefeather · 16/04/2020 18:46

Thank you for the new thread @AndddddHerewegoagain!

My pelvic pain has got better and then worse and then better again. I’m just doing what I can and rolling with it!

Although I broke my rule and picked up heavy 3 year old today... she had fallen over and was crying and it was just instinctive. I’ll definitely regret it later though!

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 16/04/2020 19:20

Thanks for the new thread! I've a new ache today to add to the rest - my hands! Washed them earlier and my knuckles and backs of my hands, wrists and lower forearms are sore and tender to touch. I'm wondering if it's pregnancy related or cause I've been on my phone much more (although it's both hands). Anyone had this?

Re feeding, I'm going straight to formula this time but didn't think to take some to hospital. I assumed they'd feed all their patients! Wink I better ask my MW what the policy is just incase! Thanks for the heads up :)

Busylizzie85 · 16/04/2020 19:27

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth I have had sore wrists, hands and knuckles for about 3 weeks now the midwife said it's normal and most likely carpal tunnel which is common in pregnancy!

mrssunshinexxx · 16/04/2020 19:29

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth I'm genuinely intrigued if they do? I mean they must have some formula but enough to supply all I'm not sure? Also suppose you won't be able to be fussy about what brand and if you had decided which one you wanted to use at home and hospital didn't have that one argh it's all mind boggling

Thanks for the new thread x

AndddddHerewegoagain · 16/04/2020 19:49

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth they fed my son with formula because of the cleft but they don't as a general rule. We had to use our own formula within 24 hours. They asked me which formula i wanted to use but it probably varies between hospitals.

They obviously won't let your baby starve but they're not impressed if you turn up without any milk if not breastfeeding.

I used cow and gate. No idea why. Think its cos my sister used it I was so used to buying the tub/ seeing it I just naturally gravitated towards it. Ive bought some cow and gate this time as well just incase

Also sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. I got it really badly with my son but haven't got it at all this pregnancy. I was told by my physio to get wrist splints and wear them at night.

Thanks @Busylizzie85 that's good to know. It's one thing after another!

And good point @mrssunshinexxx! I don't mind switching brands when we come home but I suppose I better find out! Grin
