So, I'm one of 'those' mums...

I worship the ground my DS walks on and I don't know how to stop myself blush

I watched a video titled "To the love of my son's life" in Facebook - basically an emotional video with emotion prodding music, telling the mysterious girl or boy that I'm doing my best to make him into a lovely young man. One day he will want to spend his days off work with you, will want to spend time with you blah blah, but right now he needs and wants me".

Goes on to say how proud I will be on the wedding day and how I promise to love you too, for you are the person he's chosen, etc etc

I watched the video crying and then felt a sudden rage that one day someone would be stealing my DS from me!

One day I won't be the only woman in his life! (Providing he's straight)

Another woman will fill his heart with love angry

Is this how those MIL threads come about, from horrendous mums like me? blush

I think I'm a bit obsessed. I iron his vests and feel slight guilt if he's forced to wear one I haven't ironed. Even if you can't see it under his immaculately ironed things.

How do I get a grip?

I tell DH I can't have any more children, in terrible fear they won't live up to my magical DS and his amazing charms and looks.

I realise I must be quite unhinged but at least I have the good grace to admit it... I think

How old is your DS?

Tistheseason17 Thu 22-Feb-18 21:59:11

At least now you know you have years of therapy ahead!!

DS is 4 months nearly blush

Bluntness100 Thu 22-Feb-18 22:00:45

well equally it could be another man he loves. I'd really try and get over yourself, and just hope he is loved and loves.

Lettucepray Thu 22-Feb-18 22:01:15

Er I don't iron but still love my son. I won't feel sad at all that some other woman will get his love....bit strange you do, sorry.

Tootsings Thu 22-Feb-18 22:01:23

I wouldn't mind him loving another man, no issues there!

C0untDucku1a Thu 22-Feb-18 22:02:26

4 months grin

You're crazy 😂😂😂😂

Bluntness100 Thu 22-Feb-18 22:02:41

You just have issues if he loves a woman.

Ok, you sound unhinged.

LaContessaDiPlump Thu 22-Feb-18 22:02:52

I find you a little bonkers, but you seem to have self-awareness so I like you anyway grin

teenagetantrums Thu 22-Feb-18 22:03:26

Don't worry the teenage years will probably make you wish someone would take him away, not to mention the toddler years..which are pretty much the same

Plainlycrackers Thu 22-Feb-18 22:03:31

Thank god for that! This should wear off as he gets older... teething may help... when the little woppet starts to move and causes havoc and mess everywhere... when your little prince starts talking and asks you “why” eleventy billion times a day... I dearly hope so for his sake and yours!grin

Sparklingbrook Thu 22-Feb-18 22:04:00

How do you know he will have amazing charms and looks? grin

Maybe you are still a bit hormonal.

GreatDuckCookery6211 Thu 22-Feb-18 22:04:21

Thank fuck he's 4 months grin and not 24.

Tootsings Thu 22-Feb-18 22:04:44

I know, I know. Ridiculous! If someone told me they were thinking this way before DS, I would've told them to cop onto themselves

But it's just how I'm feeling.

I feel quite frightened by how much I love him. I sometimes fear he will always have me wrapped around his little finger

LaCon Thank you wink

busybuildingdens Thu 22-Feb-18 22:05:24

I’m with you! My DS is 2 and I feel heartbroken if I even think about him falling in love with someone else. He is my perfect little boy 😢

Tootsings Thu 22-Feb-18 22:05:47

Plainly he's teething now and I sometimes cry with him. I feel so horrible that he's in pain. Luckily bonjela usually helps

wilts09 Thu 22-Feb-18 22:05:47

I think everyone thinks like this but won't admit the level of crazy they are at! So good on you for letting it all out 🤣

Lettucepray Thu 22-Feb-18 22:05:54

I suspect when op stands on a piece of Lego that love will wane....oh and then there's the slipping on a hot wheel car down the stairs....such fun!!

LittleFeileFooFoo Thu 22-Feb-18 22:05:54

Op, I don't iron anything, (DS is5) but i sometimes feel that way. I worry I'll be the most kaiju MIL the world has ever seen.

Until Ds calls me a "stupid-fart mommie."

Then I'm pretty sure I'll be one of those lovely MILs who wises my DIL all the luck and support, cause she's gonna need it!

martellandginger Thu 22-Feb-18 22:05:55

You should have many more children to spread the love - and hopefully dilute the craziness 😂

Knittedfairies Thu 22-Feb-18 22:06:13

So your 4 month old son is walking.... I think you'll grow out of this stage OP. If not, I feel for him.

RickOShay Thu 22-Feb-18 22:06:22

Enjoy your feeling while it lasts,
when he is a teenager you will need the memory of it to sustain yougrin
