Anyone saying ‘roles are made redundant, not people’ are so far from the real world. Of course, in principle, that’s what happens but so many companies orchestrate a redundancy if it’s the quickest way to get rid of someone.

And once someone is told they’re redundant, it’s unusual to expect them to carry on working their hardest. That’s what gardening leave is for.

OP won’t get sacked for this. They’ll no doubt roll their eyes and count down the days til she goes.

@ohyesido if you’re rude or abusive then it could be considered as misconduct or even gross misconduct. If not resolved, you won’t get redundancy then - more likely dismissal and no reference.

Yes being made redundant isn't fun but you do not know if your manager is going through the same. I get that you want to push boundaries but you also will want to leave on good terms. What happens if you need a reference?
