Have I gone too far?

Oh climb down off those high horses. I'm a big fish in a small pond and I want to make a few ripples so what

You misspelled "twat" as "fish"
How silly of you

Garlicwest · 03/12/2024 17:09

Apate · 03/12/2024 14:43

If you sent that in my company you'd be fired. And rightly so.

Eh? What for? Unless she's in the armed forces, insubordination isn't a sacking offence. She clearly did the job on time, she just conveyed a lack of respect for her control sheet. (Wittily, and it probably gave the manager a quick laugh.)

bloodynaps · 03/12/2024 17:09

Ah this is brilliant

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 17:10

@LigamentBandy did you mean to be so rude?

Twototwo15 · 03/12/2024 17:12

Well, it wasn’t too bad a response, I can think of worse things you could have suggested for them to do with it.

LigamentBandy · 03/12/2024 17:12

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 17:10

@LigamentBandy did you mean to be so rude?

Your whole tread is about being rude why is ok for you not others?

Bannedontherun · 03/12/2024 17:13

@ohyesido I love this thread had me laughing (as a retired CEO charity sector)

It seems to me that there are a few uptight managers on here who do not like looking in the mirror.

If i was still employed i would employ you as “a difficult to manage” but strong contributor type employee

Having a room full of yes mam yes sir twats is the worst world of work to me

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 17:13

@LigamentBandy it's a stock mumsnet response. Loosen your girdle a bit hun

No ones going to take that seriously

I'm imagining the OP's boss reading it open mouthed like a goldfish, and having no idea how to respond to such insubordination.

He will also have shown it to his colleague, who has been desperately suppressing fits of the giggles all afternoon, all the more so because of their colleague's Stig-like bewilderment.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 03/12/2024 17:15

I had a colleague who thought he could tell the VP of Operations to 'fuck off' and remain employed.

He was mistaken.

Maybe you could try that next time.

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 17:17

@DemonicCaveMaggot I'm careful not to use language. I'm all about integrity

Let me find the screenshot where he says he's coming in for a meeting and I replied saying thanks for the heads up I'll book that day off

@NewBootsWeather great username.

My mental health is fine unless you take a minor low alcohol wine consumption into consideration

Not all that fine, I'd say.

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 15:12

Is no fake. I just want to be validated

@ohyesido
i don't mean to be rude, but are you 12? Honestly this is the kind if thinking that teenagers find amusing and 'clever', but then they usually grow up and feel embarassed about the public knowing of their stupidity,

SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament · 03/12/2024 17:21

Are you and your pal having fun texting each oth9r?

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 17:22

I don't find it amusing or clever I'm hoping I'll get a payout

Bannedontherun · 03/12/2024 17:24

@ohyesido have you had an ANAL appraisal recently very important IMO

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 17:26

@Bannedontherun that's not in my job description but I'll certainly explore the opportunity

OP posts:
Garlicwest · 03/12/2024 17:27

Some of the PPs remind me of my worst-ever boss, who furiously and correctly accused me of 'dumb insolence'. That's also a serious offence in the Armed Services, not in civvy street. So I proved his point by respectfully informing him I was sorry he felt I hadn't followed his instructions correctly, and could he explain further?

(This would've been no fun if he was just thick, but he knew what I was doing so it amused me for a while.)

Galatine · 03/12/2024 17:28

Hoppinggreen · 03/12/2024 14:34

If you push it enough they could just sack you and get rid of you without having to pay a penny - good plan

This will knobs on!

How long have you worked there?

MarmaladeSideDown · 03/12/2024 17:29

NewBootsWeather · 03/12/2024 16:48

So many people.

And still they come.

OP - once you find yourself out on your ignominious ear with the redundancy package you yearn for and are temporarily between jobs, can we do lunch?
😁

I guess I just carry on as the management turn a blind eye to my insubordination.

I don't work for any relatives. Sometimes a smack means as much as a kiss

“Sometimes a smack means as much as a kiss” - that’s an appalling thing to say, hang your head in shame woman.
