Have I gone too far?

If this was in my organisation, and you were repeatedly doing this, you'd be heading towards dismissal not redundancy.

Is no fake. I just want to be validated

Most people get validated by doing their jobs well.

Isatis · 04/12/2024 10:11

ohyesido · 03/12/2024 17:22

I don't find it amusing or clever I'm hoping I'll get a payout

You won't as you seem to be hell-bent on giving them good reasons to sack you.

@MaisieMacabe I wish I could but it's Legal Aid and I'm not going to prison

Legal Aid does not cover debt recovery.

Actually he’s apparently a pretty down to earth guy and from what I’ve heard absolutely hates rude people like this.

Absolutely no reason to be rude and disrespectful just because you’re ashamed of how your life’s turned out.

If you’re not happy at work, then leave.

I'd suggest you watch him present the Golden Globes.

Lets go out with a bang.
Lets have a laugh at your expense, shall we?
Remember they are just jokes, we're all going to die soon.
And there's no sequel.

Then goes on to roast the celebrities in the audience.

He's hilarious live and absolutely loves being rude to people.

You realise your manager is a human being too? Being rude to anyone is horrible. You should just leave if you don’t like your job or address your issues openly if you have valid grounds to complain. Your manager is accountable for you and your performance so you are putting them in a bad position. I’m a manager and it’s awful when people do this to me. One person who I promoted and supported and even thought was a friendly colleague if not an actual friend did exactly this and I felt so hurt. It puts managers in an awful situation, it’s very dishonest and manipulative. It’s not ok to be rude, selfish and try to play people just because they’re a grade or so above you at work.

BunnyLake · 04/12/2024 17:53

Strange thought process.

BunnyLake · 04/12/2024 17:55

Is your real name Reginald Perrin? (Older posters might get the reference).

I have a suggestion. One day wear a very bright, curly wig. Tell everyone that Molly (or whatever your real name is) left unexpectedly for Venezuela, and you're her replacement, Brenda McGlone, known as Bren.

😁

RavenhairedRachel · 04/12/2024 18:00

What kind of Manager spells like that ?

goingdownfighting · 04/12/2024 18:06

I love how you think that your manager likes you.

LigamentBandy · 04/12/2024 18:08

🤫Don't reawaken this!🤫😂

AnnieSnap · 04/12/2024 18:12

If this is genuine, you may get sacked for misconduct, rather than made redundant. If I was your manager, I’d certainly be taking you through disciplinary procedures with that being my aim 🙄

mrsg1981 · 04/12/2024 18:17

How long have you worked there for?

Oof maybe just say you want redundancy if it's going? Funny tho x

Bearbookagainandagain · 04/12/2024 18:44

It's a weird strategy to be made redundant. That kind of behaviour is ground for dismissal, not redundancy.
To be made redundant you have to make yourself useless (but still pretend to perform).

There’s nothing funny about being rude and sarcastic and insulting.

What - like dozens of posters on this thread, you mean?

NewBootsWeather · 04/12/2024 18:52

Wonderi · 03/12/2024 20:34

I don’t think they have as this is nothing like the office.

I love the office (Uk version) but this definitely isn’t like that.

There were no twats trying to be rude to be made redundant on there.

The closest character OP comes close to is Chris Finch who was a dick.

Did you forget that David Brent told Dawn to file the important fax from one of the senior managers in the bin. He then got caught out later on 😂 .

Pbs Nature Running GIF by Nature on PBS

I didn't get where I am today by not noticing these things.

ilovegranny · 04/12/2024 19:06

Be careful you don’t get sacked for gross misconduct, therefore invalidating the need for redundancy.

I suspect that the OP is sufficiently senior to not have to worry about that.

Not unless s/he (he has the flavour of a he) is the CEO.

What does seniority have to do with this?

I did not realise a senior person cannot be disciplined with a view to sacking. Oh wait, that is the sort of matter an employment lawyer would advise their employer clients on.

tommyhoundmum · 04/12/2024 19:31

To be made redundant and to qualify for redundancy pay at the legal rate your post has to be cut.
