Fraaahnces is right. It’s generational thing. Over the age of 39 or so, people understand what OP is saying. Younger than that, they don’t get it and are appalled and indignant.
OP, if you’re successful in your efforts, do please quietly cancel a few people’s debts before the redundancy is put in place.
A dear old friend of mine cancelled lots of impoverished elderly people’s debts in the USA when she worked in a government office over there. But that was a few decades ago.

I’m not talking about OPs first post but if someone doesn’t find something funny, why does everyone else tell them they have no sense of humour or are humourless? I didn’t find it particularly funny but I love laughing and joking! Everyone’s different
