Welcome to the final stage of the Chernobyl project 2017, the thread where we will see our target of 70 blankets achieved and even more, plans are already in place for delivery to the wonderful groups, and we can't wait for the children to have their beautiful blankets!

All crafting information can be found on previous threads, have a look here.... We are just so eternally grateful to everyone for every stitch and every moment of time spent on this project, we were worried we had 'bitten off more than we could chew' when we looked at the challenge of 70 blankets, or equivalent of 5600 six inch squares as Knotty worked out! But the Woolly Hugs crew never fail to amaze, thank you everyone so SO much! Thanks

There are 12 more kits out with crafters, and the final sort will be complete by next Thursday.

So nearly there Gin

I may have something in my eye - they all look thrilled 😁

KnottyAndPistey · 28/05/2017 09:06

Honestly they are so adorable, and it was quite chilly when we took these pics, so they enjoyed warm cosy cuddles straight away.

Honestly, bloomin magic, such a privilege to be part of such an amazing group of folk doing amazing things, thank you Thanks xxx

Lovey pictures !
I am so glad to have been part of this
But you are the Star 's K&P to get this organised .

KnottyAndPistey · 28/05/2017 09:22

Start in January and its all yarn, yarn, yarn, folk finding yarn, buying yarn, trips and time to get the yarn, sending yarn, make squares, folk all over making squares around families, jobs, life, peskies, peskies, peskies, Chernobs, Chernobs, Chernobs, but have we got enough squares, yes, no, yes, scream fret, possibly not, squares squares, everyone working so hard, deadlines, sort, kits, kits, kits, bonkers bonkers, huge woolly mountains in the PO, construction crew working their magic, everyone working incredibly hard to meet deadlines, fret fret fret, deadlines deadlines, bonkers bonkers...

and then these beautiful fragile children arrive, our wonderful 'Chernobs" and it all a bit overwhelming really, utter magic seeing them snuggle and love their blankets from the minute they see them, they can't believe they are theirs, the first to receive was one of the tiny girls, it took a while to sink in it was hers now. Sob.

Beautiful, thank you!

Thanks

£336.50!!!

Delighted to announce the final sum raised for ice creams for the Chernobyl children! Thank you everyone who sent coins, notes, online, PayPal, cheques and to Seeded for their fundraisers. Splitting this between our original groups, but sending to the others out of our own funds raised at the craft sale. Happily we have enough extras to split easily between everyone. Honestly how fabulous everyone is, THANK YOU!!!! xxxxx

Our Isle of Wight Chernobyl group!!

"Hello and thank you very much for sending beautiful blankets for the children! As you can see they love them . They also loved the goodies in the box--as did the leader. They rarely see such things back home.

Definitely got something in my eye. Such gorgeous children and I'm so glad that we were able to put smiles on those beautiful faces.

K&P you two are StarStar

NormansNipple · 29/05/2017 23:50

You're very dedicated Susan Grin I don't think all the blankets are finished yet.

I've seen most of my squares made into blankets. Two of the Portsmouth blankets have them. I had 2 in the party blanket, and one of the boys in the photos has a claret and blue c2c I made. It makes it all so worth it to see the happy children in those photos Smile

Morning!

We approached the lovely group in Fife to see if they would like blankets and they actually have a group who make quilts for the children, which is lovely, but they have asked if we can send woolly hats to the children for them to take home. Hugs for heads! So excited we can do this for them too!

We have hats here, and its not a large group so think we are sorted.

Happy sigh Thanks
