Welcome to the final stage of the Chernobyl project 2017, the thread where we will see our target of 70 blankets achieved and even more, plans are already in place for delivery to the wonderful groups, and we can't wait for the children to have their beautiful blankets!

All crafting information can be found on previous threads, have a look here.... We are just so eternally grateful to everyone for every stitch and every moment of time spent on this project, we were worried we had 'bitten off more than we could chew' when we looked at the challenge of 70 blankets, or equivalent of 5600 six inch squares as Knotty worked out! But the Woolly Hugs crew never fail to amaze, thank you everyone so SO much! Thanks

There are 12 more kits out with crafters, and the final sort will be complete by next Thursday.

So nearly there Gin

There's 12 more on top of the 65? That's amazing!

DropZoneOne · 03/05/2017 20:36

Wow. Wow. Wow. Shock Such an amazing job, you must be delighted K&P. I still remember the call going out in March asking who was working on squares, and the deluge of replies!!

Treasures · 04/05/2017 02:35

Oooh I spy one of mine on No.65!
2nd row up, 2nd from the left.

All lovely blankets and so good to be going over target. Very happy to have been part of all this. I've learned (and am learning) so much.

Had an arse of a few days, so not been around much.
I think last time I posted I was struggling to get a 12-pointed Sophie's Garden squared off... Well I did it! I said I never give up Grin Much thanks to those who offered up solutions, it took me about 2 days to work it out.

We are neighbours Treasure!!

I love your sophies garden.I wanted to try that but it looks too complicated!

I love that we have met our target, what will happen to the excess blankets?

Yddraigoldragon · 04/05/2017 07:31

Oooh! I can see some of mine too! They all look lovely :)

WitchDancer · 04/05/2017 07:40

That is stunning Treasure, worth the two days of cursing it!

Lem, I think they mentioned that there was another Chernobyl group that they could give excess blankets to?

Okkitokkiunga · 04/05/2017 08:09

Treasure that's gorgeous. Hope your rubbish days have passed now. Have you set yourself a new Crochet challenge?

Thats fantastic knotty - you are all stars, stars i tell ya!!Star

SoupDragon · 04/05/2017 11:02

I posted my very late squares yesterday!

SoupDragon · 04/05/2017 11:02

I don't mind which project they go to BTW.

SpiralArchitect · 04/05/2017 11:14

Look at all those gorgeous blankets!

I appear to have 3 squares on no. 65 Shock

(And finally... LEM - check your PMs! Grin )

Treasures · 04/05/2017 16:14

LEM it's honestly not as complicated as it looks! I'm a complete beginner to crochet and if I can do it, anyone can! The only tricky part was working out how to make it into a square after the last round of petals.

Witch Thanks, yes I think it was worth it.

Okki Thanks, yes they have and yes it's funny you should mention a new challenge! I saw your childrens' blanket and I was already in the process of doing a very similar one with the small squares Grin No pics yet - I've done about 25 squares, not attached to each other yet, I'm just not sure how big I want to make it. Then I've put that on pause and done some stuff for the Refugees project. Even some hats! I'll put some pics on that thread later on. I'm really enjoying doing what look like quite intricate 12 inch squares but are easier than they look.

VittysCardigan · 04/05/2017 16:14

66 - and I can I see one of mine!

It's the final countdown! Welcome to the final stage of the Chernobyl project 2017.
VittysCardigan · 04/05/2017 16:31

Actually there are 2 of mine SmileSmile

WitchDancer · 04/05/2017 16:54

I haven't seen any of mine 😥. I'm wondering if it's because they were Candy colours and they're being held back in reserve?

Spindelina · 04/05/2017 17:41

Witch I've seen two of my ten (rainbow zigzags in 61 and my wonky characterful granny third from left in top row in 63), and I'm wondering the same as you about the other eight.

But then I haven't seen any of the three squares that I've sent in specifically for Candy's either! But those don't get laid out in quite the same way, so they could have been hidden.

bookbook · 04/05/2017 17:55

yay! - I can see at least two, maybe three of mine in this one - I did them in mixtures of aster/pomegranate/sage
I wonder how many over the 70 they have managed to do ? :)

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 04/05/2017 18:33

Soup BabyDragon to secondary? Feck me...that's just not possible, surely?!

Woolly. Definitely far less lovely than you! That's dreadful about your shoulder. I hope you get some answers & help with it soon

Treasures. Sorry to hear you've had an arsey few days 🙁 Your square looks fab!
