Welcome to the final stage of the Chernobyl project 2017, the thread where we will see our target of 70 blankets achieved and even more, plans are already in place for delivery to the wonderful groups, and we can't wait for the children to have their beautiful blankets!

All crafting information can be found on previous threads, have a look here.... We are just so eternally grateful to everyone for every stitch and every moment of time spent on this project, we were worried we had 'bitten off more than we could chew' when we looked at the challenge of 70 blankets, or equivalent of 5600 six inch squares as Knotty worked out! But the Woolly Hugs crew never fail to amaze, thank you everyone so SO much! Thanks

There are 12 more kits out with crafters, and the final sort will be complete by next Thursday.

So nearly there Gin

Morning - just setting up a new web page for the second stage of the Chernobyl project

Chernobyl 2017, the second stage, delivery!

The last kits have been made up and are off to Construction crew now, we have tried to ensure that everyone got the majority of squares into blankets, there were a few left which we propose to add into refugee project blankets for children. Hope this is ok for everyone. xxx

But here is the first deliver, going this morn at 9am!!

We have given the group a fabulous box of extras too, so pleased we can help them. The Isle of Wight group have found fund raising particularly challenging this year, could only afford to bring 6 where they have brough at least 12 in the past, I am sure fund raising gets harder year on year, but we suspect being a tiny island adds to this. So it is lovely to help, thank you for making it possible. xxxx

They're on the way! So exciting Smile

It's a shame they could only have 6 this year, but 6 is better than none. I hope they have a lovely holiday and go home feeling much better.

bookbook · 17/05/2017 18:51

just seen 85
a K&P one :)
I notice that more kits have gone out- does that mean even more than 86 will be done?

It does indeed, we are utterly blown away by the generosity of folk, extraordinary, there was point we just weren't sure we were going to reach 70, we should never have worried, woolly folk never fail to amaze!

So

Portsmouth - tick
Gloucester/Leeds - tick
Liverpool - tick
Helpston/Peterborough - tick

Add on..
Isle of Wight - tick
Bristol - tick

and there are another 16 at least

So we are talking to the Chernobyl charities, what a wonderful headache to have, honestly, blown away, thank you everyone. We will be back as soon as we know!

Oooh - three of mine in no 86!! They look so different when surrounded by friends. I had to check my online photo album to be sure they actually were mine... Grin

They look fab. I'm so glad we (*) were able to make so many. I'm looking forward to seeing the album(s) with them all in 😊 I really hope the children & helpers love them & get some comfort from them.

() I use the term 'we' very loosely! My contribution wasn't even enough for one blanket 😖🙁. Others have done many more, some several whole blankets 😳 & K&P* blankets of their own on top of organising, sorting, coordinating the whole thing 😳😘. They put me to shame. Blush

🍾🥂🍸🍰🍫. K&P ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕

Does anyone know the cost of bring one child over?

Boobies...

I'll knock up (pun intended) a booby or two. I have plenty of pinks and I think I'll do a lovely Grass Green with Turquoise...😬 I would order some of the skin tones, but I can barely see over the wool mountain, so had better use some of what I already have! 😖🤣

NormansNipple · 22/05/2017 23:32

I love the K&P blanket!

I might manage to make some boobies. I'll see how difficult the pattern is!

BlackeyedSusan · 24/05/2017 17:18

two of mine have turned up in blanket 90

Smile
BlackeyedSusan · 27/05/2017 17:15

oo I can see one of my squares in a blanket in a boy....

BlackeyedSusan · 27/05/2017 17:17

I wonder if he knows it is the party blanket?

I presume it was sent first as it was corrupting the rest of the pile of blankets.

SoupDragon · 27/05/2017 17:27

I hope they frisked it for WKD and vodka first.

KnottyAndPistey · 27/05/2017 17:53

We said to him it was the party blanket!

He was Smile

Mostly because he really only speaks Ukranian Grin
