Welcome to the final stage of the Chernobyl project 2017, the thread where we will see our target of 70 blankets achieved and even more, plans are already in place for delivery to the wonderful groups, and we can't wait for the children to have their beautiful blankets!

All crafting information can be found on previous threads, have a look here.... We are just so eternally grateful to everyone for every stitch and every moment of time spent on this project, we were worried we had 'bitten off more than we could chew' when we looked at the challenge of 70 blankets, or equivalent of 5600 six inch squares as Knotty worked out! But the Woolly Hugs crew never fail to amaze, thank you everyone so SO much! Thanks

There are 12 more kits out with crafters, and the final sort will be complete by next Thursday.

So nearly there Gin

Susan I do see one of my squares in 74 and 76 but not the rainbow ones! I did rainbow c2c.

I love the blue one too.

Wishing a speedy recovery for your back LEM!

Spiral I love the rainbow marigold Smile I've just done one in vintage colours for the kinship hugs.

VittysCardigan · 11/05/2017 20:11

Ooh another 2 of mine, almost all accounted for now

bookbook · 11/05/2017 20:22

I have no idea where a lot of mine went - but they are all wonderful blankets.
I saw on the fb construction page they have sorted and put together the last kits to go out to be made up, so not long now :)
LEM - take care of that back, hope it eases soon

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 11/05/2017 20:32

They're looking great aren't they 😊

I think that's my squares one, the second from the bottom on the left of 79, but not 100%. I haven't spotted any others yet, but I suspect they might still be being sewn together by someone wearing sunglasses.

Not bothered though, I know they'll end up in blankets somewhere and that's good enough for me 😊

Spindelina · 12/05/2017 09:28

Chipping my favourite thing about spotting my squares has been seeing what other squares they have been put in amongst. I imagine that the squares look very different depending on their surroundings, and there's a real skill to the sorting that K&P have developed!

Next project?

Vitty what a great suggestion. Unfortunately I am the wrong shape for dungarees so wouldn't do the pattern justice. Grin. Though I am very tempted by the headgear.

WitchDancer · 12/05/2017 10:53

😂😂😂😂

NormansNipple · 12/05/2017 11:58

GrinGrinGrin We should do a woolly hugs meet up and all wear those, then we can find each other easily!

Vitty is just down the road from me... it was her idea...

VittysCardigan · 12/05/2017 15:23

Oooh am I Spin? Pointedly ignores blame being cast

Spindelina · 12/05/2017 16:10

Bristol ish right? I'm in Bath.

VittysCardigan · 12/05/2017 16:14

Yep, ish - am on the coast

NormansNipple · 12/05/2017 20:54

I would have to travel miles and miles to get to you in my crocheted dungarees and cape. It would involve stopping at service stations...Grin

Okkitokkiunga · 12/05/2017 21:03

Norman you're down the road from me - I can pick you up - I regularly visit family in Weston S Mare. Crochet road trip Grin

VittysCardigan · 13/05/2017 00:09

Woolly Hugs meet up in The Mare ❤️❤️

Okkitokkiunga · 13/05/2017 10:37

Do flowers count as embellishments if the petals aren't sewn down flat. I've got some squares with flowers and I'm not sure if I should see them flat or not. I was thinking of using these squares for either Refugees or Billie's Blankets.

Thanks.

Okki and Vitty it's a date! Well, as long as we don't stop at Bridgwater services. If the Soviet Union did motorway services...

I'm not sure about that Okki Maybe message K&P.

In the meantime, I have put these on my project list for me and QC. We will look super cute Grin

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 13/05/2017 17:46

Okki. I'm a bit confused why you are asking? Have I missed something re embellishments? The general rule is that embellishments are good as long as they're in the same type of wool & (especially for little hugs) they can't be swallowed.

Norman they look proper cosy for you & QC.

DungareeMeetUp. Oh, I'd love to come, but I'm washing my hair! Sorry!

Okkitokkiunga · 13/05/2017 18:07

Chipping I thought embellishments weren't really allowed for the children's stuff. I guess I may have misunderstood then. I also wasn't sure as these could be sewn flat if that made a difference.

Norman I love those socks. Would QC be obliging?

Okkitokkiunga · 13/05/2017 18:09

Chipping with such glorious headwear choices to match the dungarees you probably needn't worry too much about your hair. 😂

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 13/05/2017 18:26

Okki. Did I say my hair? Sorry, I meant the cat.

😂

This is from Littke Hugs guidelines...

Things to avoid: Buttons, sequins and beads, and embellishments that could scratch the skin or be swallowed. If using appliqué it needs to be firmly stitched on with no hard edges

The appliqué they refer to will be mainly the stiff material things you buy in shops To iron/sew on.

Anything knitted in SSDK will be fine, even more so if it's knitted/ crocheted into the item.

Okkitokkiunga · 13/05/2017 18:34

Thanks Chipping - these are still uncharted waters for me.

bookbook · 13/05/2017 18:52

Vitty Shock - you really, really, wouldn't want to see me in one of those ! Grin
Okki - its easy to worry , but if its worked in the wool, as Chipping says, its fine - its lovely to see a bit of 3D and texture :)
