Welcome to the final stage of the Chernobyl project 2017, the thread where we will see our target of 70 blankets achieved and even more, plans are already in place for delivery to the wonderful groups, and we can't wait for the children to have their beautiful blankets!

All crafting information can be found on previous threads, have a look here.... We are just so eternally grateful to everyone for every stitch and every moment of time spent on this project, we were worried we had 'bitten off more than we could chew' when we looked at the challenge of 70 blankets, or equivalent of 5600 six inch squares as Knotty worked out! But the Woolly Hugs crew never fail to amaze, thank you everyone so SO much! Thanks

There are 12 more kits out with crafters, and the final sort will be complete by next Thursday.

So nearly there Gin

It's okay, following a bit of detective work, I've discovered it has arrived. It's this one. I must have just missed it before!

That's a relief! I'm glad it's safe and sound

MadisonAvenue · 26/06/2017 12:13

It's unbelievably brilliant how many blankets have been created!

KnottyAndPistey · 26/06/2017 15:36

MHW - give up the day job!!

Aye, giving up the day job might give me a chance to finish the Manchester blanket I was meant to post to you two weeks ago... I'm nearly finished the peskies! GrinBlush

Spindelina · 27/06/2017 11:33

Does maternity leave count as giving up the day job? Hoping for a few weeks of uninterrupted wool time before the fun kicks off, at least!

bookbook · 28/06/2017 16:03

How are you Spin - I think I saw one of your squares ( where you were mastering the spike stitch!) on fb yesterday ( 109?) - I think some of my understated ones were there on these last couple too :)

Spindelina · 28/06/2017 18:17

I'm well thanks - counting down the days left at work! This weather suits me much better.

There were three of mine in that blanket! Blue ripples (second ever crochet square) and red wavy cables. I've spotted all of the ones I sent in "for Chernobyl" now (albeit one in a candy's blanket).

MadisonAvenue · 28/06/2017 19:04

How long until your due date Spin? Glad to hear you're well!

Spindelina · 28/06/2017 20:27

Just under two weeks until my official due date, but that's a work of fiction - at least three in reality.

MadisonAvenue · 29/06/2017 09:01

Not long then! I can't remember if you've said that you know what you're having or if it's a surprise?

Spindelina · 29/06/2017 09:34

It's a boy. DD was a surprise, but this time we decided to find out because she expressed a clear preference for a girl and we thought when I'd just given birth wasn't a great time to disappoint her!

MadisonAvenue · 29/06/2017 10:18

Aww lovely! Little boys are fab!

Good thinking there though, husband has two nephews and when sister in law was pregnant for the third time the younger of the two (he was 7 at the time!) was adamant that he wanted a sister - another brother just wouldn't do! Our local hospital had a policy of not revealing the sex so there was no preparing him and when she gave birth to another boy he promptly burst into tears and threw up when mother in law, who was looking after him and his brother, announced the good news to him Shock
