Welcome to the final stage of the Chernobyl project 2017, the thread where we will see our target of 70 blankets achieved and even more, plans are already in place for delivery to the wonderful groups, and we can't wait for the children to have their beautiful blankets!

All crafting information can be found on previous threads, have a look here.... We are just so eternally grateful to everyone for every stitch and every moment of time spent on this project, we were worried we had 'bitten off more than we could chew' when we looked at the challenge of 70 blankets, or equivalent of 5600 six inch squares as Knotty worked out! But the Woolly Hugs crew never fail to amaze, thank you everyone so SO much! Thanks

There are 12 more kits out with crafters, and the final sort will be complete by next Thursday.

So nearly there Gin

Place marking.

I don't think I've recognised any of mine yet - tbh once I'm on the next project I forget what I did anyway so that's very likely a memory issue Grin

WitchDancer · 04/05/2017 19:26

Ooooo oooooo ooooo! I spy one of mine! I didn't recognise it, but my DS1 did 😁

Sittinginthesun · 04/05/2017 19:32

Wow! They are beautiful. Think I can see my squares, but they are the boring plain ones, so may not be mine;)

BlackeyedSusan · 04/05/2017 19:39

with 12 blankets just sent out in kits and another sort to come it is possible that they are still in the process of being constructed.

I have yet to see some of mine. I am enjoying clicking on the blankets to see if it is there yet. I have no idea whether they have gone into kits or are being sorted.

I am guessing that there will be at least 81 blankets. given 68 arrived back, then soupie's, then 12 kits... plus some more to be sorted out....

BlackeyedSusan · 04/05/2017 19:41

sitting, that is why i made mine a bit patterned so they were recognisable in photos.

I did wonder whether to make some plainer ones though, as it is quicker than intricate counting.

PurpleFrog · 04/05/2017 20:28

I've seen a number of mine in 66 and 68. Phew! Was beginning to think they had been too late to make the original 70.

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/05/2017 20:33

I've just finished one (had it a coupke of weeks, not part of the recent 12), posting tomorrow.

bookbook · 04/05/2017 20:44

we've definitely cracked it then! Grin

Have just seen this on Facebook

Hello, lovely folks.

We are looking for help, once again.
The response to our Chernobyl blanket project has been astonishing - we are so grateful. Thank you.

Meanwhile, we are in need of squares for our Kinship hugs so that we can send cosy blankets to those in need of comfort.

These gorgeous Kinship squares arrived today; thank you Josephine Q. Very timely, bless you.

We are asking if any of you could help. We need 12" or 6" squares in Stylecraft Special DK, either knitted or crocheted.
Colour palettes can be found in the comments below; these help us to arrange the squares into packs for construction and also personalise the Kinship hugs for their recipient as best we can.

Bless you and thank you.

WitchDancer · 04/05/2017 21:18

I spotted that too Vitty, just be aware they have several colour pallets and you can't mix them! I wondered if there would be a separate thread about it?

VittysCardigan · 04/05/2017 21:33

Good point Witch. Guess there probably will be a new thread - got carried away Smile

MrsHathaway · 04/05/2017 21:37

I can't find a Kinship thread anywhere - I have a feeling they weren't originally called that and the thread will therefore have a different title.

I usually use Vintage palette but recently bought Spiced and it's really cheering to work with. Very autumnal and warm where Vintage is softer and more elegant perhaps.

bookbook · 04/05/2017 21:45

Yes, I saw it too- I have all bits and bobs left, so i can use up the gold and mustard in the spiced range ....

Okkitokkiunga · 04/05/2017 23:47

Ah - I was looking for a Kinship thread too. I have some of the colours from the Classic palette so I am trying a Jan Eaton square - no 78. About to undo round 5 AGAIN. I really hope it'll be 3rd time lucky and I count it correctly this time. I will try counting it out first and marking each place with safety pins. That'll look interesting Grin

DropZoneOne · 04/05/2017 23:48

Ooh, I've seen the kinship hugs palettes and really liked them, but couldn't find any details on the project so assumed it was an old one. Is it an ongoing thing? I'm itching to buy some new colours!

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 05/05/2017 07:16

It's ongoing. Sadly always needed

Go to the .org page & you can see all the projects 😊

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 05/05/2017 07:20

Thanks for the info though Vitty. I don't do FB and there's not always an equivalent post on MN, so it's always good to have the heads up. I was tossing up between Little Hugs & Kinship for the next squares, so that's sealed the deal. Unsurprisingly, I appear to have the full range of colours yarn addict🤣

KnottyAndPistey · 05/05/2017 07:35

Morning loves and a huge thank you - going to set up a Kinship Hug thread in a mo, we've not had one before, so am on it xxx
