Following on from our previous support thread please check in here if there's any help, particularly (but not exclusively) knitting help, you need for the squares for 3girlies, who sadly lost her beloved 6-year-old dd Flora recently.

The details of the blanket project are here and it directs you to the Crafting Guide on Woolly Hugs, with specific sections for crocheters and knitters. I am still maintaining the original document mostly because I haven't got around to separating out the stuff that's already on Woolly Hugs now from the newer suggestions we've had in the last few weeks. So please, by all means do send me suggestions for new patterns or ideas.

For those of you on Ravelry and participating in the Ravellenic games, I think squares could be entered under a number of categories such as balance beads, doubleknit boxing, lace longjump among possibly some others.

Legoland hideousness. Shouldn't everyone have been back at school?? Suffice to say - tmrw. Probably

BarbaraWoodlouseGoesForGold · 03/09/2012 19:50

Gw'an Pitsey, let Shredded off the hook, even if it's just for the creation of a brand new verb "To Jiff" Grin

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 03/09/2012 19:54

Grin Barbara

Even though it's "To Jiffy" Grin

Trib, I think it should be wrong side facing, but I'm half way round now and it looks ok. I'll just have to remember for next time!

Friend has just text to say things might be starting! 3 weeks early!

tribpot · 03/09/2012 21:55

Have a look at this video, Glaikit, although if you've got it working I don't think it matters too much. i-cord should come out looking fairly similar on both sides anyway, but you can see the very edge of the edge you're working next to the cord on the wrong side - you can sort of see it here.

A bit of a life-blip this week ... But I'm working on it Pitsey.

Knitting doesn't come naturally and its never very good ... A square will be produced. Oh yes.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/09/2012 22:56

And it will be luffly Rosie, you are a Star

GlaikitFizzog · 09/09/2012 15:36

All quiet here at the moment. Just signing in to report the successful completion on my log cabin blanket complete with icord border :o

The join is a bit obvious, but it's at a corner so managed to do some clever stitching.

HairyPotter · 09/09/2012 20:06

I feel a bit lost with no squares to knit. But of course, this is a good thing.

I love love loved your squares for the blankets and I am inspired to try, drum roll... Knitting with two colours Confused can I blag some of the patterns you used? Muchos gracias Grin

Hello! I have finally posted off my squares for expat and giraffes' blankets (I didn't sign up for 3girlies' blanket as I have been unwell and thus was so behind with the earlier ones :( ) I hope it's ok if I ask a question in here about a problem I had with one of those squares though because I am really, really confused Confused.

I was trying to make this. I added a garter stitch border but otherwise used the pattern exactly as written there. For the first three repeats, all was well and looked exactly like that. However on repeat 4, the pattern mirrored itself Confused. I figured I'd buggered up a stich count somewhere, ripped out repeat 4 and tried again, this time paying very close attention to my counts and stitch numbers. Same thing. At this point it was late and I was tired and went 'ah feck it, will continue and see how it turns out'. Repeats 5 and 6 turned out the same way as repeat 4, mirrored from the original, resulting in at least a reasonably attractive symmetrical pattern, so I've kept it as I quite like it, but I do not understand how I did this. There is a picture here, don't know if you can see it well enough though: WTF?

What did I do here? Anyone have any idea because I am very, very puzzled indeed....

tribpot · 09/09/2012 21:11

At a guess, Naoko, you've got one too few knit rows between the top of repeat 3 and the start of repeat 4. Your bottom 3 repeats look the opposite of the pattern, suggesting you're looking at the wrong side of them. Then I think you've done 1 row of knit when it should have been 2 (or possibly you've done 3 rows) and so you've started on the other side of the work from before. Because you then got the counts right from that point on, repeats 5 and 6 came out the same as 4.

I actually like yours better! I would get it slammed in to Ravelry pronto as your own pattern.

Blush

I'm working on it ...

BarbaraWoodlouseGoesForGold · 10/09/2012 20:16

(Joke!) Grin

I know what you mean Hairy, I feel a bit bereft too without a blanket project on the go. But am also so glad that one isn't needed just now of course.

In the meantime I am finally back working on DD's ballet cardigan plus have a job lot of cheap and cheerful Stylecraft on its way to launch some form of (easy!) crocheted blanket. Ambitious? Moi? Oui!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/09/2012 20:23

Oooh Babs, I have Stylecraft and I am going to do this here, all being well But not as big, I've chosen three colours, a cream, raspberry pink and a green, but think I want four, not sure what the fourth will be yet. I am as always being over ambitious, but hey ho Wine

GlaikitFizzog · 10/09/2012 21:22

here is the baby blanket I did for my friend. With an extra hat and booties! She got them today and was so thrilled!

I have 3 balls of this yarn but don't know what to do with it. It was an impulse purchase Blush
