Following on from our previous support thread please check in here if there's any help, particularly (but not exclusively) knitting help, you need for the squares for 3girlies, who sadly lost her beloved 6-year-old dd Flora recently.

The details of the blanket project are here and it directs you to the Crafting Guide on Woolly Hugs, with specific sections for crocheters and knitters. I am still maintaining the original document mostly because I haven't got around to separating out the stuff that's already on Woolly Hugs now from the newer suggestions we've had in the last few weeks. So please, by all means do send me suggestions for new patterns or ideas.

For those of you on Ravelry and participating in the Ravellenic games, I think squares could be entered under a number of categories such as balance beads, doubleknit boxing, lace longjump among possibly some others.

Beautiful squares soremummy :)

I love the designs knitted into them. Did you design those patterns yourself?

Oh wow - soremummy they are beautiful squares. Really lovely.
Trib - thanks for the link for doing stripes. I've still got one more square to do for Expat and Giraffe though.
Is there anyway to work out how much wool is needed for one square? I'd hate to start and there not be enough.

I have ordered my wool tonight and will start the squares as soon as it arrives.

soremummy, those squares are gorgeous!

I will be knitting for 3girlies, but not until I get back from holiday. I picked up some wool yesterday from the only wool shop within 50 miles to knit some squares for my DSs' blankets, but the only DK they stocked is not-very-nice acrylic. I went searching for another wool shop I'd found on the internet, only to find that all the stock was sadly washed away in a hurricane last year and the shop owner has not re-opened.

Knitting with acrylic has reminded me just how lovely the wools we are using for the woolly hugs blankets is.

Morning Brew

Thanks for all PMs, just having a caffeine fix then I'm on the case Smile Thanks

bobkate You weigh a finished square, then weigh your wool and see. I can't do this as the scales we have aren't accurate enough, but that's wot Pidjy and Knots always say Smile

I'm off to take my cubics back. I will resist the urge to buy the set I've got birthday money burning a whole in my pocket I will concentrate on finding nice patterns and knitting squares instead. I will NOT buy anything from the shop I promise ( unless I see something really nice)

Thanks for telling me tribpot. Was getting dh to drive me so I just jump out of car and run in. I don't really like driving but I think there is method in his madness --- it means I won't be long in shop so I can't spend much money :)

Team SorePiste take gold in the crochet doubles event, well done!

Happy birthday soremummy! Enjoy yourself. BRE is open tomorrow for Olympic-based knitting fun, although I'm sure you won't want to come back over a second day running.

Thank you tribpot. I think I'll avoid there tomorrow. I'm sitting her looking at my new cubics (replaced them both!). I'm sort of afraid to use them Hmm wondering how many rows I do this time before breakage again. I'll let you know how I go with them

No one is going to believe me but I've yet again broken a cubixs this time it was the one in my left hand when I was casting off Hmm definitely think they are faulty and definitely not for me I'm totally jinxed with them but at least this time I just about got a square done. Tribpod if your at BRE tomorrow tell them they have my name (you have it from my emails) that I got them about 3.45 and broke again by 9 tonight I'm fed up now but glad I didn't spend money on full set. I'm gonna stick to my kids 6 inch ones that's I've had for 26 yrs at least they haven't broke yet!
