Following on from our previous support thread please check in here if there's any help, particularly (but not exclusively) knitting help, you need for the squares for 3girlies, who sadly lost her beloved 6-year-old dd Flora recently.

The details of the blanket project are here and it directs you to the Crafting Guide on Woolly Hugs, with specific sections for crocheters and knitters. I am still maintaining the original document mostly because I haven't got around to separating out the stuff that's already on Woolly Hugs now from the newer suggestions we've had in the last few weeks. So please, by all means do send me suggestions for new patterns or ideas.

For those of you on Ravelry and participating in the Ravellenic games, I think squares could be entered under a number of categories such as balance beads, doubleknit boxing, lace longjump among possibly some others.

The deadline for posting is 3rd September, which is next Monday. Stressed, your contribution is very much appreciated and don't worry yourself if they're a bit late - concentrate on being well Thanks

tribpot · 29/08/2012 07:41

Barbara - good luck with that! I am too squeamish to have it done, although it would be FANTASTIC to be able to see without glasses. Not sure I could manage a few days without knitting or MN though Grin

stressedHEmum - poor you! Summer must be bloody awful knowing a wasp sting could put you in hospital :( Feel well.

Jings!!! have only just realised 3rd is next monday and have just cast off my 1st square - had intended to keep it as template and do two others .... and I've only jst read guidelines properly (sorry!) and read theme is flowers - can I do a textured heart as long as it's in the correct colour, which it is? Just that was what i'd planned next, and not sure i've got any flower patterns, not easy ones anyway [bear of very little brain here]. Maybe I should do another texture as it's quick and I'm tired.

Glaikit, that first book is lovely. I have it somewhere in my midden of a house. What lovely presents to get.

GlaikitFizzog · 29/08/2012 21:51

Jings baskets!! Crivins and help ma boab!

I had an unexpected day to knit off work today, ds is poorly so couldn't go to the childminders I knocked up 5 of these little flowers and they look so cute! really simple to add to a plain knitted square baskets.

I am almostt finished a fairisle square from my new block book. It's from a chart trib and I've worked it out all on my own

Baskets45 · 29/08/2012 22:11

Excellent! I might try one of those flowers tomorrow. Too tired tonight. Sadly, I am unemployable due to health at mo, so lots of knitting time. Every cloud, silver linings etc. Well done on your chart reading skills - it does get easier with practice! I've had a rummage about for that book. No clue where it is. [sad housekeeping skills] I'm sure people who know me in RL must wonder what i do all day - allegedly lots of house cleaning time. In reality, my main occupations are - in no special order - knitting, sleeping, MNing, and occasional attention to DCs (quite big ones, luckily). Good night, all.

Hearts in the correct colour are fine, Baskets. Flowers are a specific theme but other patterns also welcomed, although Knotty gets a bit funny about cats Hmm Grin

DharmaBumpkin · 29/08/2012 22:41

All my 3D flowers are finished (pics on my profile) & I had such plans to post them today, but then it was raining, & my toddler was mardy, and, and, and... Blush

I willpost them tomorrow though! :)

Baskets45 · 29/08/2012 23:36

That's fine then. Lots of ideas! I'm allergic to cats so no cats. ha, ha!

KnottyLocks · 30/08/2012 10:00

KnottyLocks · 30/08/2012 12:46

Droitwich, the lily is beautiful Smile

droitwichmummy · 30/08/2012 12:51

Thank you Knotty. Just need to whip up a plain square to put it on.
Pistey - i should be posting on Tuesday or Wednesday

tribpot · 30/08/2012 13:49

Beautiful, droitwich! (And that's not a sentence you read often Wink)

What are you watching at the paralympics?

I'm cranking up the Baby Surprise Jacket machine again as a colleague's dd has been born a month early - mum and baby are fine but it was a bit of a shock for them.

I am working in the velodrome! I am the female on the female raised platform right in the centre of the track wielding a gun Grin

droitwichmummy · 30/08/2012 19:24

No idea where that 2nd female came from! It's been a long day and I was at the opening ceremony last night so not much sleep

tribpot · 30/08/2012 19:28

So we should be looking out for a gun-totin' sleep-deprived lunatic with pair of knitting needles for company in the velodrome?

Btw, on another note, I am doing some lace from Nicky Epstein's fabulous book and I didn't realise until I'd started that this pattern calls for not 1 yarn over, not 2 (the oh-so-familiar 'double-yarn-over-of-doom' which we eliminated from the Team Heart), not 3, but FOUR YARN OVERS in a row! Un-be-lievable! Looks good, though.

OP posts:
droitwichmummy · 30/08/2012 21:51

That's me!
Off to get an early night as no Wine here

MinnieBar · 30/08/2012 22:22

Four yarn overs??! That would just look like a dishrag if I attempted it Grin

MinnieBar · 30/08/2012 22:28

Oh, and despite my 'no more yarn overs' protest, I have just done a square that has YOs in - it's one from 'Carla's blanket' on Ravelry/Vogue Knits - the idea is to sew very basic petals (with yarn) with the YO as the centre. The square itself is fine - very even tension if I say so myself Wink.

However. As well as being patchy at knitting, it turns out I'm really bad at sewing, even just 16 stitches to make eight sodding petals.

tribpot · 30/08/2012 22:44

This one I take it Minnie - it looks great!
