Article on the threat to UK women from Afghan immigrants

"The statistics clearly show that Afghan nationals pose a disproportionate threat when it comes to sex offences. Last year, Sky News’s data and forensics unit – using annual population survey data from 2021 and Met Police figures – found that, for Afghan nationals, there were 59.2 sexual offence charges per 10,000 across England and Wales. The corresponding figure for UK nationals was 2.7 offences per 10,000 people."

The Spiked article actually misrepresents the Sky article, which does a deeper dive into the data and concludes "Our estimates conclude that Afghans are closer to three times more likely to be convicted of a sexual offence than someone born in the UK". NB though age is mentioned, i.e. recent migrants are more likely to be young and criminally active, neither seem to analyse sex, though it is mentioned in Farage's figures - there must be more male immigrants than female; presumably this has been taken into account?

More and more I find the threat, especially to women, troublesome and worrying. To generalise, the Left view all immigration as all fine and dandy; the Right disagree and want it reduced or stopped. On the other hand, Burnham's proposal to place asylum seekers in middle-class areas implicitly shows that he knows that they are problematic: "We cannot have a situation where it's only the poorest communities in the country that receive all of the dispersal of refugees and asylum seekers." If the refugees and asylum seekers are beneficial to the UK, which is promoted as the Left-wing view, then he would be saying that the rich/middle class areas will benefit from his plans, rather than saying they need to share the burden. "Blackpool, and other communities ... have had to take more than their fair share of asylum seekers," she [immigration minister Anna Turley] added. "That's put a huge burden on local communities and created real civil unrest." www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c204d4z1gg8o

TL:DR Are male immigrants, especially illegal ones, a particular threat to women, and if so what can be done?

We need to talk about Afghan sex offenders

Welcoming unvetted men into Britain from a deeply misogynistic culture is putting women at risk.

No I think we should take whole families preferably. We need the population boost and we could put them in right wing places like Clacton or the Derbyshire Dales to increase support for progressive parties like the Greens.

Who is “we”?

Signalbox · 18/08/2026 08:33

You are right to be worried OP. Aside from the obvious national security issues of allowing undocumented males to enter the country, I find it really strange that people who readily accept that 98% of VAWG is carried out by men are so blasé about 1000s of them illegally entering the UK each month. Additionally to paint these men as “vulnerable” and “traumatised” when it is increasingly clear that the majority are economic migrants, members of criminal gangs or have links to enemy regimes. I honestly can’t wrap my head around the mindset.

Even if there were no cultural differences between these men and British men it would still be undesirable to have 35,000 of them descending on the UK yearly. Men (of any ethnicity/culture) in male only groups tend to make a nuisance of themselves (just ask a nightclub owner).

Even if these men are “genuine” asylum seekers (the majority aren’t) I honestly don’t care anymore. What type of man leaves his mother/sister/children at home in a place so dangerous that he cannot exist in it? In reality the women in his life will be far more vulnerable than he is. If Burnham doesn’t put a lid on this ASAP I can imagine we will end up with a right wing government. And we’ll be lucky if it’s only as rightwing as Reform.

Leaving aside for moment, just how hysterical this claim appears to be. Can I ask why it is only men that we need? Why is that we don't need women to come and vote?

Apparently women are going to need as many transwomen in their spaces to fight the tsunami of transphobia out there.
Swing those toilet doors open!

I think Debbie is showing her Savage wit here.

Debbie is satirising other posters who have been pretty close to the same.

Something to send to More or Less for the wonderful Tim Hartford to dig into?

He’s already done it. 20th May edition.

If having empathy for people fleeing war and persecution somehow ends in my death, I will gladly offer myself up for the cause. You do not insult me with that moniker.

Here's an idea: Why don't you start a "Cuddle a Debbie" scheme where you allow these men to nuzzle into your bosom like an upset toddler and come back to report on how that goes? In your head they'll all come skipping away wearing daisy chain headdresses, cured of their trauma and ready to contribute positively to our society. I wonder what the reality would end in?

Would be a great time for Refugees Welcome feminists mid-cuddle to start explaining about boundaries and the history of the Suffragette movement.

The "what happened on October 7 was sort of okay because Hamas were provoked" type. We've seen that enough times.

A highly intelligent and caring but indoctrinated work colleague nearly said this thought out loud but held back a tiny margin from being that explicit. However, it was clear that she did believe in the ‘provoked’ excuse for what happened.

We exchanged civil emails each presenting our views but it’s clear that we can no longer discuss the Middle East conflict.

Not sure if Debbie is playing devils advocate but "progressive parties like the Greens" is def an oxymoron of sorts.

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 18/08/2026 10:08

it is not surprising the crime rate is higher in this group- why act with humanity when you’re not treated with it.
One of the asylum seekers convicted of 2 sexual assaults was offered a pizza by a 12 year old girl. He said he thought that meant he could sexually assault her. Does illegally entering a country and being treated as someone who has done something illegal make you suddenly rape a pensioner?

lcakethereforeIam · 18/08/2026 10:09

Nrtft but has anyone posted about Edwina Currie's suggestion. It's possible she wasn't being entirely serious but what a thing to joke about.

Offering job opportunities for enterprising young local women in a cost of living crisis? What's so bad about that?

Remember, in our Sex Positive and woke era, this is not selling your body, it's fostering good multi cultural relations and breaking down fusty old norms and limitations.

MarcTheGenderSkeptic · 18/08/2026 10:47

And remember, if one of "our" new young males misbehaves, we need to investigate our role and complicity in the scheme of things, if a young British male does, we need to run Adolescence on a loop in British schools.

If I see a job ad. I'll flag it for you on this thread.

She has, many times. She was brilliant on this issue when she was minister for women and equalities - incredibly well informed and on top of her brief. She met with Keira Bell against the advice of her civil
servants.

The civil servants. I have yet to hear anything positive about these people. I swear they are running the country.

I might be a bit old for that kind of gig I'm afraid but dare I say my younger side may have considered it somewhat. I do like to meet new people and would have probably been pretty good at it actually 😘

An Eritrean migrant was sentenced for raping a male pensioner the other day, I'm sure you'll do.

Cuddle for Debbie does a nice sound to it. It seems a bit thinner on the ground on mn these days but there might be some Debbies.

They do say youth unemployment is at a record high. Perhaps this will give young women something to aspire to.

What do you think about the Piddington village that is going to leave the UK at the prospect of being swamped by these chancers?

That would require an Act of Parliament regardless of the referendum results. It was a good way to shine a light on things though.

I was listening to a podcast of a military expert recently who has successfully modelled outcomes in regard to conflict and has accurately modelled the Iran/US/Israel conflict up to this point. I would love some of these experts to model what happens to Europe if this level of unfettered migration continues alongside the escalation of crime and lowering of GDP, unemployment etc. To my mind the obvious outcome is civil war, but I know we are not known to take to the streets as a population.
