Article on the threat to UK women from Afghan immigrants

"The statistics clearly show that Afghan nationals pose a disproportionate threat when it comes to sex offences. Last year, Sky News’s data and forensics unit – using annual population survey data from 2021 and Met Police figures – found that, for Afghan nationals, there were 59.2 sexual offence charges per 10,000 across England and Wales. The corresponding figure for UK nationals was 2.7 offences per 10,000 people."

https://www.spiked-online.com/2026/08/17/we-need-to-talk-about-afghan-sex-offenders/

The Spiked article actually misrepresents the Sky article, which does a deeper dive into the data and concludes "Our estimates conclude that Afghans are closer to three times more likely to be convicted of a sexual offence than someone born in the UK". NB though age is mentioned, i.e. recent migrants are more likely to be young and criminally active, neither seem to analyse sex, though it is mentioned in Farage's figures - there must be more male immigrants than female; presumably this has been taken into account?

More and more I find the threat, especially to women, troublesome and worrying. To generalise, the Left view all immigration as all fine and dandy; the Right disagree and want it reduced or stopped. On the other hand, Burnham's proposal to place asylum seekers in middle-class areas implicitly shows that he knows that they are problematic: "We cannot have a situation where it's only the poorest communities in the country that receive all of the dispersal of refugees and asylum seekers." If the refugees and asylum seekers are beneficial to the UK, which is promoted as the Left-wing view, then he would be saying that the rich/middle class areas will benefit from his plans, rather than saying they need to share the burden. "Blackpool, and other communities ... have had to take more than their fair share of asylum seekers," she [immigration minister Anna Turley] added. "That's put a huge burden on local communities and created real civil unrest." www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c204d4z1gg8o

TL:DR Are male immigrants, especially illegal ones, a particular threat to women, and if so what can be done?

We need to talk about Afghan sex offenders

Welcoming unvetted men into Britain from a deeply misogynistic culture is putting women at risk.

Opting out of international human rights law allows Reform to do whatever the hell they like to British people.

I am not in the slightest bit scared of Reform as the party is disintegrating as we speak. We need to get these people out of the country and prevent more from coming in. The only way to do that is to disincentivise them. Sweden is busy putting into practice plans, I believe Denmark has done the same and the migrant numbers are starting to come down.

All this crap about smashing the trafficking gangs in laughable. They are making more money from people trafficking at the moment than they are selling drugs. The only way they can have any impact on the smugglers is if the numbers start to dwindle. We have a huge problem with the black market workforce in this country. We have huge amounts of people coming in and working illegally in shops and companies such as Deliveroo. I’m one of the few people who are supportive of ID cards as I think it will make it more difficult to operate in the shadow economy.

I’m with you. I’d like to see a female PM (Kemi) bring in a system of refuge for women and opt out of everything that makes it pretty much just for men. How good would that be?

We have to vote for it though and take the lead.

Edited

I like Kemi. She’s not scared to say the truth and I’m convinced she knows what a woman is and would happily state it publicly.

I think that it is extremely worrying that there is a poster on this thread who thinks we should hand citizenship to basically anyone from any regressive country to try to defeat the “far right”. I cannot abide Nigel Farage, would never vote for him and I hope he is kicked out over the £5m, but I expect I still share more common ground with him in terms of my core beliefs than I share with some of the communities that voted for George Galloway in Tower Hamlets. I honestly think some extreme left wing voters do not help themselves!

Handing citizenship to anyone who wants it would be an effective way of virtually guaranteeing a right-wing government. Fortunately, Andy Burnham has left Shabana Mahmood at the Home Office and Zac Polandki's star is waning.

Well you should care, because we are going to need all the men we can get from various different countries around the world settled here and handed citizenship if we are to defeat the rise of the far right in the upcoming general elections.

Sure, bring in loads of men from real far right countries, to defeat the "far right" in this country! 🤣

We need to find a way to control immigration without breaking international law. Other European countries are experiencing similar problems - for instance about twice as many immigrants enter Germany irregularly as enter the UK irregularly. Spain has a similar number to the UK. Let's not leave the ECHR in addition to having left the EU (largely over the same issue). The EU is changing its stance on this. And God knows we have politicians who want to remove the rights we have left.

Denmark and Sweden have made progress without leaving.

The question is how do we get through to the elite liberals who are running the country and hell bent on making their citizens accept this race to the bottom? Obviously my first thought is to find out where in the country are predominantly voting left and stick all the new arrivals next to them. They can give up their spare rooms and better yet swap their citizenship and white privilege with an asylum seeker and disappear off to their country where they can live out their white saviour fantasies 👋

Yes. I thought this. Match housing to areas where people say we’re very wrong to object. Anywhere keen should be an top area.

Did anyone else read the story about the GB News guy having his life threatened by these people traffickers? The police had a warning through their intelligence agency that his life was at risk. They moved him and his wife out of their properties and installed a panic alarm. His wife then gave birth, he walked down the corridor afterwards and was convinced one of the people traffickers was there at the same time as somewhat of a warning. He said he had very distinctive jewellery. The police then came and took the panic alarm, no words of comfort that the great was over, they just needed to give it to someone else as they didn’t have enough to go round.

Similarly there’s in an Express journalist that has also shone a light on the organised gangs and his life is also being threatened. This is no longer a case of some frightened people in dinghies hoping to paddle to a place of sanctuary. This is cartel-led orfanided crime. If the migrants can’t raise the money they have to earn the money in this country which is how a lot of them disappear and reappear in cannabis factories or similar. It’s a very thin edge of the wedge and absolutely should not be allowed to grow exponentially larger which is what is happening with the inflatable craft carrying more people each time, plus new routes being used and loopholes such as the Irish border.

I agree we totally need to understand the stats, and it makes sense that traumatised men from a traditionally misogynistic culture are more likely to be criminals. What boils my blood is that a large group of people on social media seem to think this is an excuse to attack all Muslims, including my close friends. For example, my son's form teacher is a Muslim. I am so grateful to him as he has done so much for my son (helped with anxiety etc). He volunteers locally. He has lived all his life in the UK, is quite happy to have a laugh with me and give my dog loads of fuss, and his only conspicuous place of worship is his chosen football team's stadium. And he has recently been the victim of hideous abuse online simply because he is both a teacher and also Muslim. There are dicks from all religions and cultures, but that doesn't mean these are good ways to judge the value of a person.

It is the radical/extremist element that we have failed to identify and deal with. The United Arab Emirates has restricted state-funded scholarships for Emirati students attending British universities over ongoing diplomatic tensions regarding the UK’s refusal to ban the Muslim Brotherhood, which the UAE classifies as a terrorist organization.

The United Arab Emirates has announced restrictions affecting citizens who plan to study in the United Kingdom. The decision reflects security concerns raised by Emirati authorities regarding campus environments.

Officials cited fears of ideological radicalization, particularly linked to Islamist movements. Funding and approval for certain overseas study paths are expected to be limited as a result.

This move highlights how education has become part of broader national security discussions.

Governments increasingly view foreign campuses through the lens of political and ideological risk.

The announcement has drawn attention because it reverses a long-standing trend of Gulf students studying in British universities. It also signals shifting trust between states traditionally linked by education ties.

Observers say the decision could influence how other countries reassess overseas study programs. The situation underscores growing global debate over academic freedom, security, and state oversight.

And just when I think I’ve read enough terrible news for one day this lovely story pops up. Drunk man dragged off a bench and raped outside a church. This is the second story of a grown man being raped that I’ve read today. Yorkshire police are looking for a man in connection with a male being raped in a toilet. Literally no one is safe anymore. What the hell is going on?!

@EvangelicalAboutButteredToast at one point Texas was offering free transport to democratic states in America to migrants. They bussed over 100,000 people it didn’t save them money but it moved concentrated areas of migrants from Texan border states. I suppose they would be housed in areas where the Green Party has won a seat over here ?

Asylum seekers don't get to vote though.

To be clear, life under the Taliban for young men isn't a barrel of laughs. Especially if gay. But they can hide that better than any woman can hide her sex.

7 years is a long enough sentence for rape imo if coupled with dtpirtation (non British citizen) or lifelong listing on the sex offenders register and the ability for them to be held on remand for future reports of attacking women. Followed by a longer sentence if convicted.

We have plenty of laes. We need to use them. Fairly, consistently.

Bringemout · 18/08/2026 06:09

I saw a comment from an Afghan man on twitter talking about how you end up with this situation. He made the point that when you have extreme segregation in a very religious society then conversations around the opposite sex are all in terms of sex, sin, morality, lust, fitnah etc, the conversation never covers women as complete human beings. So I wouldn’t be surprised if to an Afghan man who has bought into this a woman walking around outside uncovered is basically a whore spreading temptation. The comment was under a female travel bloggers insta, she had visited Afghanistan and noted how younger males literally did not know how to behave or interact with her whereas the older ones did. There is a complete lack of socialisation when it comes to male/female interaction but it’s worse than that really because then their heads are also filled with shit about how evil women are and any temptation they feel is because she put it there.

I think a lot of westerns really struggle to grasp that it is a genuine belief for a lot of people. Like when people struggle to believe that terrorists may act for a genuine religious belief. Because it is so alien and we occupy a mental space where religion either basically doesn’t exist of takes a backseat to things like civil rights etc it’s hard to grasp.

Do you have any evidence for that belief? I find that hard to believe, as the Afghans on the relocation programme who I have met have been given a lot of support (which would have been very costly for the government) in terms of housing and practical support for the whole family who arrived together, which includes quite a large number of children in some of the families. So the Afghan relocation programme was very different to the experience of those who have arrived on boats as asylum seekers. Surely to be accepted onto the Afghan relocation program there would need to be clear evidence that the British Army were confident that they had worked together.

"Surely to be accepted onto the Afghan relocation program there would need to be clear evidence that the British Army were confident that they had worked together."

Sky News had an interview with a former Afghan interpreter who spoke to this.

Amongst other things he is reported as saying:

He alleged that the Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) - which is under intense parliamentary scrutiny following revelations in July about a major data breach - had been open to exploitation by Afghans simply seeking a better life in Britain.

He said examples of this alleged exploitation included:

• Multiple cases of applicants sending British officials allegedly fake Taliban threat letters, staged "torture" videos and false claims of Taliban attacks against themselves or close relatives as evidence of the danger they were in
• Afghans being resettled in the UK despite already being granted asylum in other safe countries such as Denmark or Belgium
• Individuals being accepted for relocation even though they only worked for one or two days as interpreters with British forces
• Applicants pushing to bring in large, extended families as well as their spouse and children. This included parents, siblings, nephews, nieces and even second wives

This was also confirmed by other sources

"The British source, as well as a third source also with direct knowledge of the effort to process applications, said they too had seen multiple cases of phoney threats."

The article from last year is here:

Personally, I think so too. However, the views she was putting forward were so close to views that I have heard people express in all seriousness that I find it very difficult to decide.

As @Heggettypeg said:

I suspect it's not satire. It's a type.

The anti-carceral, "white women who are raped by black men shouldn't report it because the criminal justice system is racist" type. (That one was Sally Hines, I think.)

The "what happened on October 7 was sort of okay because Hamas were provoked" type. We've seen that enough times.

Any amount of empathy for the "right" kind of men, but a real hard spot when it comes to caring about the "wrong" kind of women who are their victims.

She has, many times. She was brilliant on this issue when she was minister for women and equalities - incredibly well informed and on top of her brief. She met with Keira Bell against the advice of her civil
servants.

HousePlantEmergency · 18/08/2026 07:34

Something that I find really hard to understand in all of this is the apparent indifference we have towards people already living here that have also been traumatised and abused.
I work for Shelter at Christmas and have had so many conversations with people on the streets who are there as a result of their trauma and being let down by society.
Previously LAC, just turfed out at 18, often after an entire childhood filled with trauma without any means of meaningful support in order to be productive and well adjusted members of society.
I teach many LAChn and it is heartbreaking to think that they might face the same trajectory.
Not to mention the many ex service men who have fought for this country and have PTSD as a result.
The resentment in some of these cases, that these people just feel forgotten about, but we can house and feed others from overseas is completely understandable.

Why are we prioritising helping others before helping these people?

I've thought long and hard about fostering, but I know that my personal circumstances right now would not make that viable (single parent and young child at home) I will once my child is no longer at home though.

I think that's the parallel. It's not wise to put yourself under further pressures to help others when your own household is already under pressure. It will not end well.

Let's get our household in order FIRST before we start offering support that we cannot fully deliver on.

No I think we should take whole families preferably. We need the population boost and we could put them in right wing places like Clacton or the Derbyshire Dales to increase support for progressive parties like the Greens.

Youdontseehow · 18/08/2026 08:08

@SerendipityJanemy favourite quote is from the great Homer Simpson - “statistics are meaningless, they can be used to prove almost anything!” (or words to that effect.)
