Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

"Like a snowball: the growth and impact of the gender critical movement in the UK" - if you wanted a very good reason to never give Amnesty a penny, this is it. But a lot of people will read and believe.

"Over the past ten years the situation for LGBTI+ people in the UK has deteriorated. In particular there has been an organised backlash against trans people’s rights starting in 2017/18. This report maps the gender critical movement in the UK and the role of the media in normalising anti-trans rhetoric.

Our research shows that an organised gender critical movement emerged as a response to proposals to reform the Gender Recognition Act in 2017/18 and has gained huge influence in public and political discourse since then.

Between January 2020 and April 2025, media coverage of issues about trans people has been excessively high compared to the size of the trans population, their role in society, and public interest in these topics.

Four outlets examined in the research published 17,000 articles between January 2020 and April 2025, an average of 9 articles per day and ‘gender critical’ framing became common over this period of time while the voices of trans people have been almost completely absent."

I believe the standard follow-up request to this (not infrequently made but never evidenced) claim is “please quote the hateful posts”. Show us any evidence of ‘trans hatred’ on this forum - where the hatred is expressed due to someone being trans rather than due to their behaviour.

I’m not sure you’ll find it.

Baying
Howling

Demonisation of women's voices. Dehumanisation.

Every time.

Can you explain why advocating for protection from males and the upholding of women's existing rights as confirmed by law is 'hateful' please?

Have an orgy of self-congratulatory back-slapping.

Oh, like the TRA posters who mocked rape victims? The ones who call women transphobes and bigots? Yes I do agree, they do spew a lot of hatred and bile. It’s great you're calling them out. I would suggest a teeny bit less tone policing though.

ArabellaScott · 22/05/2026 07:51

'Spewing hatred and bile'

Women are just not allowed to talk without hyperbolic characterisation of their voices.

Once again, though, thank you to the trans activists who turn up to beautifully illustrate all of the points made by women about the intrinsic sexism of the movement that aims to replace 'sex' with 'gender identity'.

It really is helpful.

There’s literally nothing in this post. You haven’t said anything or made any points. You’ve just put a load of word salad in there.

I got called a transphobe and a bigot for refusing to say a man was not female. I got harassed, bullied and physically attacked. And do you know what, I was actually a trans ally. I was in a relationship with a TIM. He attacked me as a refused to say I saw him as female. That was my only crime. He got his friends to scream at me in the street, I had to endure ‘struggle sessions” that lasted hours. I still have PTSD . So go on, tell me again about hate and bile and how “transpeople are the most vulnerable group”.

ArabellaScott · 22/05/2026 08:08

Its not just word salad. Its peppered with more dehumanising insults.

So you have reported these posts on MN or can quote the ones on this thread?

This is like JKR who put a million pound reward who could find one of her posts that was transphobic. Weirdly no one claimed. Nor is anyone able to quote one.

It's also as if they don't exist.

You are the one missing the point.

Most people on here, not me, were originally Trans Allies, who were totally up for letting 'real' men who say they are women into female spaces. they really were.

Then they said one thing. Like 'well, not rapists being put into female jails'. Or 'Well, not male boxers punching females ones'. Or 'Not Male MMA fighters breaking female MMA fighters skulls'. Or 'Why are they looking for an escaped rapist saying she might be dressed as a man rather than he might be dressed as a woman' - take a bow Derby Evening Telegraph. 'Well, not men in female refuges'.

The moment they say any of these, the attacks being. The rape and death threats. The putting women on lists - thanks Wes Streeting. The complaints to employers, advertisers, web hosts etc. The threats to friends, colleagues, families. The Nailing of a Rat to the door of the all female rape crisis centre, and the removing of funding if they will not admit men.

They saw the Trans Rage directed at them, they saw other women and men who stood up to the Trans Rage and realised what this all is. Its a Men's Sexual Rights and Perverts Charter. It allows men into female spaces whether women say no or not. And it has taken a decade to get the Government of the UK to accept that biological sex is not and cannot be changed, not ever.

If it's such an echo chamber, why are individuals with opposing views to the majority so often allowed to dominate the conservation?

Compare Reddit, where opposing views will get your posts deleted before anyone can look at them.

And why do they disappear the moment anyone ask them actual questions like 'How does a man change into a woman and at what point has this change happened? what has manifested during this change?'

If they feel so strongly about it you'd think they'd explain it.

The "birthing parents" if you please...

Yes I think they did think we're a bit thick. But as all their posts have now been deleted it's impossible to go back and see what they said!

GreyskySexRealistsky · 22/05/2026 08:42

Gosh, some men are absolutely seething over that EHRC guidance, aren't they?

All PBPs it looks like.

I particularly liked 'sickened'. Who admits to being sickened they can't access unconsenting women??

Can assure everyone that there was nothing of any worth in the deleted posts. Just tedious insults, smears and sneers.

Accusations of hyperbole from these posters when they themselves use the most hyperbolic language ever seen on this board - always amusing!
