"Over the past ten years the situation for LGBTI+ people in the UK has deteriorated. In particular there has been an organised backlash against trans people’s rights starting in 2017/18. This report maps the gender critical movement in the UK and the role of the media in normalising anti-trans rhetoric.

Our research shows that an organised gender critical movement emerged as a response to proposals to reform the Gender Recognition Act in 2017/18 and has gained huge influence in public and political discourse since then.

Between January 2020 and April 2025, media coverage of issues about trans people has been excessively high compared to the size of the trans population, their role in society, and public interest in these topics.

Four outlets examined in the research published 17,000 articles between January 2020 and April 2025, an average of 9 articles per day and ‘gender critical’ framing became common over this period of time while the voices of trans people have been almost completely absent."

Like a snowball: the growth and impact of the gender critical movement in the UK

Explores the rise of the gender critical movement in the UK, its media influence and impact on trans rights. Read the full report and technical summary.

Look folks,
much as I have enjoyed the relentless pile on in this trans eliminationist “not an echo chamber” I think I’m going to call it a night now.

I need a shower to wash the ick away.

I’m sure you will thoroughly enjoy the misery and hate the EHRC guidance will undoubtedly cause.

But seriously folks, most of you need mental help.

Keep piling on if you want. But I’m not coming back. Ever.

Can you highlight the phrases in the Guidance that are hateful please?

I'm curious.

Cos tbh all I can see is people throwing toys out of the pram because they were told "no sex is not the same thing as gender, cos reality matters)

HUMAN rights movement. You would defund an important organisation that fights tirelessly for ALL humans. Yes, including trans people, but also women. See below:-

Amnesty International champions the human rights of women and girls globally by holding governments accountable for ending discrimination, preventing gender-based violence, and fighting for sexual and reproductive rights. Their actionable work encompasses several key areas:
Decriminalizing Abortion & Healthcare Access: Amnesty campaigns to remove women from the criminal law related to abortion and ensures access to sexual and reproductive health services, having played a crucial role in historic reproductive rights victories like Ireland's 2018 abortion referendum.
Preventing Gender-Based Violence: They work to end impunity for rape and sexual violence in conflict zones, advocate for the establishment of domestic violence refuges, and continually fight against practices like forced marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM).
Protecting Activists: Through initiatives such as the Global Women, Peace and Security Agenda and their broader casework, they actively monitor abuses and demand the release of jailed women human rights defenders worldwide.
Rights of Vulnerable Groups: They push for legal changes to protect survivors of trafficking, as well as champion the decriminalization of sex work to ensure the safety and human rights of sex workers are legally protected.
Global Campaigns: Through major movements like the My Body My Rights campaign, Amnesty mobilizes youth and communities to deconstruct cultural stigmas, combat sexual harassment, and demand bodily autonomy.

Fucking shit show of an organisation which puts its own financial self interest of it's works ahead of all.

The people who need help are props to a back patting exercise of pompous self congratulatory virtue signalling.

Donations are there to keep employees validated and employed. They do not serve the interests of anyone else..

ArabellaScott · 21/05/2026 22:34

Their ad campaigns in the late 90s were horrific. Super graphic descriptions of torture, and one where they sent a letter saying you'd been found guilty of an unspecified crime and the police were due to come round.

It was very realistic, and to a confused teenage girl, briefly terrifying.

I think around then I stopped subscribing. It felt a bit like I was in a coercive relationship, looking back on it.

Mental help?

I'm sorry did you mean to be so offensive and politely incorrect with your slurs about mental health?

Not according to the EHRC segregationist guidance today they don’t.

irrespective of what GCs claim, thanks women are not “biological men” and most of us are not threatened by them.
Finally I don’t think YOU feel threatened by them either. I think you just want to hurt them.

Do you know that violence against women and girls by cis men has skyrocketed as billions are spent on vilifying and legislating against innocent trans women?

@Charli
But who is going to hurt transwomen in the third or gender neutral spaces? What human rights do they lose? They can use those spaces with dignity.
If they don’t want to join men’s social groups, they can join mixed sex ones or create their own which could exclude anybody who is not a transwoman.
The only space they cannot use, is the one reserved for biological women because they are not biological women, no matter how they feel or present.

The only people who have been oppressed are the women because they have been denied single sex spaces for years. The women who don’t mind sharing their spaces with transwomen can opt out from using single sex spaces. They have a choice. But nobody should be denied the right to a single sex space.

yourhairiswinterfire · 21/05/2026 22:41

Not according to the EHRC segregationist guidance today they don’t.

It's been the law for years.

Why do single-sex spaces exist in the first place? Have you always been against their existence?

Finally I don’t think YOU feel threatened by them either. I think you just want to hurt them.

I want to hurt them? Are you serious?

I don't want any more women to be imprisoned with men. With rapists.
Or to be raped on women's hospital wards. Or to be retraumatised by a man in their rape counselling/support group, or avoid getting help altogether because they can't trust that women-only means women-only. Or have to get their clothes off in front of men at work. Or to have to compete against men in their sport and being put in danger in some cases whilst doing so. Or to be discriminated against/unlawfully sacked for expressing views that align with the law.

Who is hurting who here, Charli?

I simply want single-sex spaces to be single-sex, as our law allows.

Here’s a few.
Kishwer Faulkner
Kellie Jean Minshull
Miriam Cates
David Alton
Caroline Farrow
Joanna Williams
Andrea Williams
Dennis Noel Kavanaugh

Also organisations that fund you such as Heritage Foundation
Turning Point UK
Christian Concern.

All easily googled. There are others but I’m not spending all night on this

Everyone is entitled to their own views on different subjects. We can agree on one topic and disagree on others. For example, you'll see pro Palestine (anti Israel) stances from liberals, hard leftists, moderate Muslims, hard-core Islamists and the Far Right. I doubt they have many other opinions in common.

Falkner once signed an amendment against continuing abortion pills by post after lockdowns were lifted. No other notable stances.

Kelly Jay isn't a feminist and hasn't really claimed to be one. She holds views many GC people disagree with.

Miriam Cates is a socially conservative Tory.

Caroline Farrow is a Catholic and campaigns accordingly.

Never seen any evidence of Dennis Kavanaugh giving a shit one way or another.

Not heard of any of the others.

Can you explain why advocating for protection from males and the upholding of women's existing rights as confirmed by law is 'hateful' please?

Unlike the gentle calm space that is Reddit? I mean, at least here no one is advocating people get raped with splintery rolling pins… so theres that I suppose. In that case, surely trans Reddit could be seen as. Hotbed of misogyny and an anti-woman space.

So you go on Reddit and tell them off? Sure buddy. Sure you do. You seem a bit upset by women having rights and discussing them. Have you spoken to someone about this?

RedToothBrush · 22/05/2026 07:02

Here is the thing.

How can laws on voyeurism and child protection be upheld to protect women if men can just decide they are women and women are prosecuted or lose jobs if they even complain about this due to their 'transphobia'? How do you safeguard?

The Staniland Question remains the Irish Border Question of liberal nonsense, just as Brexit types lost their minds and didn't understand that you need to have practical real world solutions and to write legal definitions that work.

It is known as pretty much the one place on the internet where women can say that men as a class are a risk to women as a class and that men cannot change into women just by saying they think they have.

Hope that helps.

If Charli sees hatred and bile then they can report it.

Seems Charli was spewing their own Hatred and Bile on a different thread and got all deleted and stuff.
