That is if The Human Paperweight that is Philipson can make her mind up. What should we expect?

I think that we have two hopes - Bob Hope and no hope.

Well...
(see immediately above)

Government said In May. On the record. 100%.

Tomorrow is the last day they can I believe.

So - probably tomorrow.

It has to be laid eventually.....

LizzieSiddal · 20/05/2026 17:36

Well let’s hope it follows the letter of the Law.

Otherwise we’re going to have to crowdfund again aren’t we.

The Minister for Women and Equalities, Bridget Phillipson, has said that the government intends to lay the updated draft Code of practice for services, public functions and associations before Parliament in May. If she is to meet this deadline, the most likely time for this to happen is 18th–21st May.

teawamutu · 20/05/2026 17:47

Last reporting on it that I saw was the Times, saying it was only minimally changed from the last version.

Not sure I dare believe it.

ItsCoolForCats · 20/05/2026 17:58

So when it is laid before parliament, do we get to see what's in it? Or do we have to wait until it's published?

It will be public at that point

I would have expected trails this evening if it was really going to happen.

Burnham's going to be thrilled after today's awful PR.

And Philipson's making absolute mares' nests out of the SEND Reform and appearing to be having a lovely time doing it.

It's very local authority redundancies isn't it? Hurl it out 2 minutes before closing time, just as everyone leaves for a holiday, and run.

Igmum · 20/05/2026 19:22

Well it would put King Andy in an even more awkward position if she did…

Considering she's said, on record this week, that he's been so lovely and helpful to her joining in with the SEND 'reform' plans - what a Mayor is doing involved in that, who knows - it would see he's a friend and probably knows her plans with all this.

Mollyollydolly · 20/05/2026 19:39

I think they will release it to embarrass Andy Burnham. Cheers Andy!

Oh, I just had an awful flashback to the late 90s! So true! 😬

SabrinaThwaite · 20/05/2026 19:43

Phillipson was R4 a few days talking about something else, and the (female) interviewer asked her when the guidance would be laid. She said before the end of May and the interviewer said ‘that’s only 2 weeks away’ and Phillipson said again before the end of the month.

Wish I could remember the programme.

Telegraph reporting that it will be tomorrow and that the SC judgment will be upheld with only a few tweaks "including adding more examples on how organisations can ensure trans people have access to toilets and changing rooms while ensuring women’s facilities remain single-sex".
