I have had a feeling for a while that the grown ups in both the Tory and Labour parties, know that the gig is up and would like to quietly move on, whilst hoping no one noticed the harms. It was only women after all.

From a labour pov, getting this out of the way before the leadership election would stop it being an issue during the campaign.

The Telegraph headline bugged me. Philipson isn't banning TW from anywhere. They should never have been in women's single sex spaces. Because this fiction has been pushed, encouraged and indulged for so long we're going to have to cope with the fuckwittery as quoted upthread.
