I apologise. I do not mean to hound you. I think I understand you now. They can say what they like about themselves according to their own belief system. It changes neither your belief system nor the material reality of their existence, so what they say about themselves can be accepted without being imposed upon other people.

Taztoy · 16/04/2026 19:59

I don’t understand why I’ve been “hounded” and I find the statement from someone else that they’ve hounded me rather unsettling to be honest. I’m a regular here, for the record.

I think it's because you said earlier that you believe trans people are who they say they are. Since many men who identify as trans say they are women, it seemed to me, and possibly others, that you were saying that you also believe they are women.

I think you've made it clear since then that that wasn't what you meant.

Taztoy · 16/04/2026 20:48

I believe that they believe that they are trans.

in the same way that if someone says they are a Christian, or any other religion or philosophical belief, I take that at face value.

what they don’t get to do is Impose their beliefs on me

but I get it. I’m not aligned with the general view.

I don’t understand what I’ve said that is so terrible.

I can’t understand why I’ve been so attacked.

I said. The clue is in the trans.

and I’ve posted since.

they’re TRANS. that what I was saying.

fuck this. I can’t explain it any more and I am being fucking hounded for saying that I believe transgender people are TRANS but they haven’t and never can change their sex and they aren’t entitled to any single sex spaces or their than those of the sex they were born. And for the record they should obey the law.

seriously why are you doing this to me?

What do you think I'm doing to you?

I explained why I thought people had misunderstood what you meant. I also said I thought you'd made it clear by now that there had been a misunderstanding.

I thought I was helping.

Datun · 16/04/2026 22:58

Taztoy

It's just a misunderstanding. I think we're all on exactly the same page.

Shortshriftandlethal · 17/04/2026 07:18

Taztoy · 16/04/2026 15:35

This exactly.

Surely then, it follows, logically, that what you are calling a 'trans' person is simply someone who believes they are the opposite sex when they are not? Being 'trans' is not a fixed condition of being, but a temporal mental state?

People are seeking clarity and consistency.

You have said you don't believe that 'trans' people are exactly what they say they are; so what do you think a 'trans' person actually is? How would one measure or detect 'transness'?

I have been clear and consistent on this board for a very long time. My position hasn’t changed.

Being autistic does not mean you cannot think logically or explain clearly, surely? I have read your posts which is why i am responding to them.

And what is it, for those that may have only joined the forum recently?

Taztoy · 17/04/2026 07:45

Please can you stop.

Shortshriftandlethal · 17/04/2026 07:46

To my mind what Taztoy is saying that 'being trans' is purely a matter of self definition, and that everyone else should accept, without question, a person's self definition. They are what they say they are.

The obvious problem with this line of thought is that the world/public sphere does not operate according to an individual's private belief system and it would be highly unreasonable to expect it to.

Anyone can and should be able to wear whatever they like. There's no such thing as 'dressing like a woman', clothes are clothes.

Though, of course, there is such a thing as 'appropriate' dress depending on the circumstance.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/04/2026 07:49

I don’t think Taz thinks you do have to accept their self definition. I personally don’t see “trans” as a particularly meaningful distinction. Some people would say that “trans” is a descriptor of a group of people with a particular lifestyle.

I accept that they feel that way. I don’t believe you can change sex. However they do and them using trans indicates their feeling of presenting as the opposite gender.

I have to say I never expected that these views would lead to me being hounded on here, especially given what I’ve shared and the stance I have taken. It’s been a shock to me.

Sure but that shouldn't be gendered.

The problem with this is that it's well known that some men get a sexual thrill from wearing "women's clothes". Their motivation is completely different from women wearing what is traditionally male clothing, which is largely about practicality and comfort.

We need to acknowledge that there is a sexual element to transvestism in males before we can move forward.

People get sexual thrills from all sorts of things.

Bit of a stretch to make the assumption that every trans person is just trans for sexual thrills.

What does 'moving forward' even mean in this context?
