HW getting cancelled by the trans community

HW has posted on r/transgenderuk.
This past few weeks I’ve been in studios from Liverpool, to London, to Washington DC, using my voice to stand up for the trans community. What a whirlwind trip!

But the TRAs are NOT happy.

Helen, please. We know you probably mean well, but you DO NOT have the rhetorical or tactical skill to do this. You're damaging the cause you claim to be championing.

You have thoroughly embarrassed us with your performance.
It has been excruciating to listen to.

What the fuck, this is horrific. You've just gone and fed the fascist media machine the exact meat it was craving and it is running with it all the way to Timbuktu.

I'm not sure this has gone the way she hoped.

'Something to add to this, the people in these groups have bonded and formed friendships with their fellow haters.
They will never give up their crusade because once it's gone they have nothing left to bond over.
There are plenty of occasions where these groups have met and posted gleefully as if they are doing something daring when in reality other friend groups have been doing the same forever.

Genuine question - who do they think on their side comes across well in the media? They seem to think that if they just had a good communicator it would make all the difference, ok HW comes across as a bit mad but she basically espouses a lot of TRA points, so what would another person say that would make an impact?

How do we convince hosts and their audiences to love instead of hate?

It is all about the ‘convincing’ isn’t it?

How do we convince those women and girls to just be nice and let us cause them harm? How do we control those women and girls so they just shut the fuck up?

How do we convince people that children having permanent extreme body modifications to suit their philosophical belief about themselves that is not reflective of material reality is something to be celebrated?

It’s amazing isn’t it? Nearly every TERF interview or podcast has a bit where they say God I wish I wasn’t having to do this, there’s so many other things I want to do or we as a society should be doing.

well, after all those who have been abusive towards those who disagree with them, which influential speakers, who have transgender identities and fully support children being medicalised, are left?

Not one that I can think of. As soon as they would start speaking, their past interactions would be introduced and their credibility lost.

The funniest one was when Peter Tatchell took Fred Wallace along to a debate and Peter spent the whole time trying to stop him drinking and talking about getting fucked in S&M clubs 🤣

Interesting given quite a few GCs on X thought she shouldn't have been given the opportunity as it would only be good for her business.

GGP is far from her only money-making wheeze & the Gender Identitarians have been getting pissed off with her for a while now.
I'd be more concerned about Susie Green's drug dealing operation - she's got F1nn5ter on board & he's doing PR for her to his young & credulous audience.

Yes, the people on Reddit are fully aligned with Webberly on that - they're just saying she's not very good at it.

Lifting a bit from Helen Joyce's latest (paywalled) newsletter:

She also has no concern whatsoever for the accuracy of what she says, instead seeming to say whatever suits in the moment. She insisted that the UK Equality Act grants trans people the right to use facilities of the opposite sex, which it never did. She suggested that the Supreme Court judgment was legally wrong — so ridiculous; the Supreme Court’s interpretations are the law, unless and until it’s changed. She makes appeals to authority (she said several times that I had no standing to talk about child gender medicine because I’m not a doctor) at the same time as confidently straying beyond her own purported field of expertise (if I can’t talk about medicine, why can she talk about equality law?) And so on and on and on.

I think this is because, for reasons unconnected with facts or evidence, she has decided that she will do everything she can to enable children of any age to socially transition and get hormonal interventions, if that is what they say they want. I won’t speculate about why she has decided this — I really don’t know. But she starts from that point and then does and says whatever seems most likely, in the moment, to advance that goal. She doesn’t reason forward from facts or even premises — she doesn’t even reason backward from observed outcomes. She doesn’t reason at all, and it’s a mistake to engage with her as if she does.

All of which applies equally to many of those critiquing her performance.

It’s also a text book example of men punching down on a service woman, even if she is as mad as a bag of bees….

I love how all the tras pretend that they are losing the arguments because HW is not media trained 😂 They are losing the argument because they don't have any. You only have to scratch the surface to find the emperor has no clothes. Now that bullying, intimidation, silencing and oppression isn't working and they realise that actual other people exist and have rights too they have nothing to fall back on.

If there's one mistake they made it was demanding we listen to trans people.

Webberley has clearly listened to trans people as well, and the entire reason she is in the media is her history of listening to trans people.

OMG the comments on that Reddit thread!

t’s all well and good saying “you can’t change your sex”, but I’ve never heard anyone explain WHY it isn’t possible, or assuming that it’s true, WHY it’s important. It’s all well and good saying “trans women are men”, but again there’s usually no proof, and when convincing argument is made for the sheer fact it lacks importance to the wider problem at hand.

What's that phrase? It fits these people perfectly!!

I actually almost admire the way they eagerly repeat the same sorts of insults aimed against every wave of women’s liberation from the beginning, yet still regard themselves as the good guys.
