And also from the far right - Goypers.

There is no evidence the far left were involved, but a fair bit emerging that the shooter was likely emerged in online far right subcultures.

You might to look a few posts up.

No, the shooter wasn't a TRA or Antifa. The evidence emerging strongly suggests he was to the right of Charlie Kirk and influenced by online far right subcultures.

This is just like the TV show Adolescence, when the adults didn't understand the young people's culture and so misinterpreted what they were saying to each other online. In real life now, adults have misunderstood the references here and jumped to the conclusions they expected (or even wanted) to see.

There are 4 things reported as being written on the casings:

  1. Hey Fascist! Catch!" accompanied by downward arrows (↓↓←)

This isn't an Antifa slogan but instead a direct reference to Helldivers 2, a 2024 cooperative shooter game where players control elite soldiers fighting alien threats in a satirical, over-the-top fascist "Super Earth" regime. The arrows represent the controller input sequence (down, down, left) to call in a 500kg orbital bomb stratagem, a powerful airstrike used in the game to obliterate enemies. This game is popular with white supremacists (and others). Tyler Robinson was active on Discord servers focused on gaming (including Helldivers 2) and meme culture.

Helldivers 2's subreddit was temporarily locked following the incident due to heated debates and doxxing attempts. Some analysts link this to "Groyper" culture, a far-right, meme-heavy movement led by Nick Fuentes, who has publicly feuded with Kirk for being insufficiently extreme (e.g., the 2019 "Groyper Wars" where Groypers trolled Kirk's events).

2. notices bulge OWO what's this?"

Far-right online spaces (e.g., incel or alt-right forums) commonly use memes like this to demean their targets.

It's almost certainly taking the piss out of LGBT people, not supporting them. It's a crude, sexualized meme that started in furry and anime online communities, often used to mock or sexualize others in a infantilizing way. But these days, it's often used in trolling contexts on platforms like 4chan or Discord to harass LGBT people, furries, or perceived "degenerates," with homophobic and transphobic undertones.

3. If you read this, you are gay LMAO

No TRA is going to write this! It's a straightforward homophobic taunt, common in anonymous online trolling. Kirk's vocal opposition to "grooming" narratives and LGBT visibility (e.g., his Turning Point USA events) means this could be a targeted jab, although it could simply be brainless trolling. What it's not, is something an LGBT supporting TRA or Antifa would say.

4. Bella Ciao
On the surface this may sound overtly anti-fascist element (as it's an anti fascist song) but in context, it can also be linked to Groyper memes mocking "fake conservatives" like Kirk, or Helldivers 2 fan content where the song is remixed for in-game propaganda. It's definitely not exclusively left-wing in modern meme usage.

There are no credible links between Tyler Robinson and the left. It's misinterpretation jumped on and whipped up by people who really want an excuse to have a go at the left.

He reportedly had a trans ID boyfriend. More likely a trantifa type. Hear hooves, think horses.

There's a subset of US Democrats who were driven absolutely insane by their defeat in 2016. Go onto certain subreddits - not even communist ones, but subs full of Harris voters - and there's a constant thrum of assassination talk, "wouldn't it be great if [X] were taken out".

Overwhelmingly it's just talk, but you've got a significant number of people who have been marinating in this talk for up to ten years. I think some of them will never recover their mental health. And a few might feel like acting on the rhetoric.

That's without even getting into the extremist fringe, or the trans/antifa convergence that happened in about 2020.

Which isn't to say the American right doesn't also have a violent fringe, and they're less likely to live in blue states with strict gun laws.

But Occam's razor says that, if Kirk's killer has any ideology at all, he's more likely to come from that section of the political spectrum that's been bombarding Kirk with death threats for years.

We know all this stuff, but thanks for your input. It’s all speculation as to what motivated him but I’m sure all your subreddits think they know.

Nope. I've been here since it was all fields. Best part of 20 years now. I remember Cod, the great exodus or whatever it was called, I forget now (I wasn't part of the in crowd), penguin bollards etc etc.

Please go ahead and report me to Mumsnet if you think I'm a troll, they'll put you right.

You're showing your bias / ignorance again. Far right Groypers have been threatening him for years.

Indeed, multiple Groypers have been arrested for threatening Kirk. One notable case involved a Groyper who called in a bomb threat to a TPUSA event, leading to imprisonment. Another was arrested for directly threatening to kill Kirk.

These incidents stem from the 2019 disruptions, where online coordination turned into real-world intimidation. X posts and reports confirm at least three such arrests tied to anti-Kirk actions.

During events, Groypers shouted insults and physically confronted Kirk's team, forcing early endings (e.g., a 2019 incident where they "chased" him from his own event). Fuentes himself has called Kirk "spiritually evil" and lied about threatening Kirk's family on his show.

Online, Groypers have posted memes and posts framing Kirk as an existential threat to "real conservatism," with rhetoric like "war" against him.

Tyler Robinson was enmeshed in an online culture that I'm going to assume not many people on here are familiar with.

If you want to know what his motivations were, or what actually happened, I suggest you try dial down the knee jerk reactions and attempts to overlay your bogeymen / ways of thinking onto this event and instead try to learn a bit about what's actually going on out there.

How much do you know about online alt right radicalisation?

thatsthewayitis · 13/09/2025 20:07

The Utah governor said he was very involved in far left politics. His high school friends say he became very left as a sophomore.
His boyfriend was trans and there's a photo of the boyfriend in a childish hooded animal bathrobe. So also probably a furry.
Far left pro trans violence.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/09/2025 20:09

It’s quite obvious that the pp is just parroting stuff. The trans boyfriend story looks legit, whether it motivated Robinson or not.

LOL the projection! How about you check your confirmation bias. You have zero evidence of his motivation.

Yes, a lot of people rushed to pin this on the left.

The Guardian also reported that a friend said he was "leftist" . They've since deleted it as it turns out this was unreliable.

The words on the actual casings found at the scene and understanding the culture they come from is much more credible evidence in my opinion, than claims that he had a trans boyfriend and your assumptions about what that means.

Either way, we will all need to wait for more evidence to really understand his motivations, but dismissing far right influence when the slogans he wanted the world to read point to them seems beyond naive to me.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/09/2025 20:26

His live in boyfriend is a trans identified male. More people who know his politics have suggested he was leftist than the one the Guardian spoke to. The Guardian is renowned for lying about US trans/antifa stuff.

I think the jury’s out on his motivation personally, but there is only online speculation for the “spent his time in far right spaces” claim you made isn’t there? Otherwise you’d be able to link to something.

CassOle · 13/09/2025 20:29

I hope this isn't true.

'A TDSB teacher showed the video of the Kirk assassination to 11-year-olds.
One parent says: “While playing this video repeatedly, he gave a speech to his students regarding anti-fascism, anti-trans, and how Kirk deserved for this to occur.”'

Toronto Sun reported it, seems legit but how could a teacher have such a lack of judgement as to show 10-year-olds …

That’s horrific. I think some of the sackings have been harsh but I would fully support in that case if this is true, if not some kind of prosecution.

So let's see, if a teacher showed a video of the assassination to children, and the assassination was a far Right job, then that would make the teacher far Right.

That's how it works according to how we've been set right in this thread, right?

TheCatsTongue · 13/09/2025 20:55

This is turning into the very definition of the culture wars, it's like supporters of rival football clubs, desperate to blame one side against the other.

Charlie Kirk was on the right, so naturally the instinct would be to blame the left, many of which are openly celebrating his murder. Evidence so far seems to point towards radical left ideology, particularly with the trans link.
