Makes me curious what it says on the bullets.

Is it like «Trans women are women»-bullets?

or pronoun-projectiles? Like it says «For the last time, it’s they/them» on the projectile?

This to me has all the hallmarks of a false flag operation.

Its depressingly predictable how quickly people have started talking about false flag events. I really worry about the critical thinking levels of so much of the population (particularly those that think they are so smart and aware).

Would you really engrave antifascist and anti-trans stuff on a bullet, which would surely make a difference to its trajectory, on a shot that needed to be taken very precisely at a distance?

I don’t believe that for a second. Rifle rounds shatter on impact and scatter all over the body. How could they possibly tell if anything was written on the bullets.

Reports are they found the rifle in a blanket with one spent bullet case and several unspent. The unspent had the markings / gravings.

There's a difference between the projectile/slug that travels from the firearm and does all the damage and the casing that stays in the gun or is manually or automatically ejected to make way for the next bullet. The casing might have had writing on it, possibly fingerprints too.

I'm all for not jumping to definitive conclusions, and maintaining a healthy dose of skepticism about reports of the killer's motivation, especially early in the investigation. But come on, imagine that I'm driven enough to assassinate someone and foolish enough to have made all the mistakes that the assassin is already known to have made, but not crazy enough to leave political messages as rogue killers are often known to do? 🙄

None of this is confirmed.
It only feeds into hyperbolic, unhelpful narratives that could lead to more violence.
We don’t know anything about the shooter yet except some images that don’t aid ID much.

Robert Westman, the transgender Annunciation Catholic school shooter had messages scrawled all over his weaponry, including names of other school shooters and a call to “gas the Jews”.

I agree with PPs that messages on bullets and casings in the Charlie Kirk murder are yet to be officially confirmed, but some PPs are expressing disbelief about this. Well, it has been done before and very recently.

I think people who do this kind of thing are just violent extremists who pick a cause as an excuse to commit violent acts. At the moment that tends to be more right wing extremists in USA and Western Europe. It was Left wing extremists when I was child living in South America. It was religious extremists when I was in my early twenties. They are all equally vile when they kill people.

I can't see the whole article without subscribing but even the first paragraph is clear it was very early reports and starts to backtrack from the initial headline and this article from the telegraph even more explicitly suggesting that it is possibly not the case (relevant screenshot awaiting approval)

It sounds more like the false narratives that were originally going round after the Southport attacks which led to the protests and rioting.

I don't believe it is a false flag, but I do believe that the MAGA crowd will lie and exaggerate and use this to further their ideology, not just against trans identifying people but also against the left in general.

This whole situation is incredibly febrile - extremists on both sides are going to try and use this as a way to push their agendas, just as they do with every tragic shooting and murder and the right wing extremists are very powerful right now.

Trump has already said he is going to award Kirk the posthumous medal of honor while Minnesota had to charge Melissa Hortman's killer on state charges alongside federal ones in case Trump tries to pardon him.

The outpouring of grief and condemnation from leaders on the right over the murder of Kirk is in direct opposition to their reactions and behaviour over the Hortman murders.

All political violence is horrific - it is just as horrific that people change their views depending on whether the victim / murderer shared their political standing as it only serves to further create an environment where political violence is deemed an acceptable thing!

Can we all just stop playing into the narrative before the contagion spreads even more into the UK!

The press are already backtracking on the claims re the engraving on the ammunition (inc WSJ, where it was originally reported).

Absolutely nothing has been mentioned of this in any press briefings. We know very little about the killer and his motivations at this stage.

Let's not feed further into this already tense atmosphere by spreading potentially false information.

I can't see the whole article, but the first paragraph says "some officials... cautioned against reaching conclusions based on the internal report".

The internal report said "trans engravings". The conclusions one might read from that are not "the bullets had trans engravings", the conclusions are "the shooter might have been trans".

It seems to me that the obvious conclusion from the first paragraph that I have read is that they are trying to say "don't assume the shooter is trans just because the bullets were". This matches with the footage of someone who is not obviously trans.

We need to wait before we can be sure either way but it seems to me absolutely clear that the hard left / transtifa / antifa in the UK and US include lots of violent extremists, some of whom claim to be trans, AND that they are the obvious suspects when it comes to violence against right wing politicians.

As previously stated, no one knows the motive, belief system or ideology behind this murder as yet and so conjecture fuels unpleasant agendas all round.

I first saw this on X about two hours after the shooting and I very much doubt it is true. Even the WSJ acknowledges it should be treated with caution (and frankly they should be more sensible than generating potentially fake news in an event like this). I will wait to see what transpires but til then I will assume this is nonsense.
