Why are so many GC women pro-Israel?

This is a feminist forum. It’s in the name. I’m a feminist, therefore logically atheist and frankly anti-religion. Certainly against any kind of religious nationalism (Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, etc.)

But surely feminism is about liberation for all women, not just the ones we agree with? The destruction of patriarchal structures, not of women and children who are conditioned by them?

I constantly see snarky comments in GC articles about Gaza and dehumanizing comments about Palestinians and Muslims generally on this board. And minimizing of the suffering of the tens of thousands of people being murdered in an internationally recognized genocide. I don’t get it. It seems out of sync with the general mumsnet feeling too - I get the impression most people on mumsnet are pretty horrified by Israel’s actions.

Does anyone else get the same impression? If so, what is the connection between being Gender Critical and being anti-Palestine? Is it just that the leftist terfs aren’t so represented here?

I’m in a feminist group in Spain and it doesn’t have the same issue at all.

If we're to get back to antisemitism, there's a famous speech Heinrich Himmler gave to SS officers about why the Holocaust had to be kept a secret - I'm paraphrasing, but it went like "as soon as we admit we're doing this, we'll have all the decent respectable Germans on our case, and they'll all have one decent Jew, all the others are stinkers but you have to save this one... so we'll do what we have to do in secret and future generations will thank us for it."

• There's a significant minority of Beta Israel, who are Black Jews who live in Israel because they fled famine in Ethiopia.

All these groups, according to Howie, are exemplars of white settler colonialism and should be wiped off the map and sent back to their ancestral countries to await the next pogrom.

I have no truck with maintenance of the Israeli state.
Given the UK, Europe, the US rejected Jews that sent them to their deaths by the millions or sent them fleeing any where that would take them AND Great Britain handed them the keys to flee that created decades of death & destruction in the middle east, they are responsible for not only for the defence of the Israeli state but all the damage they have done. Hence they are responsible for all remaining Palestinians who should be given citizenship in their countries as recompense.

However, the fact they're still protesting now a peace plan is underway is proof, if more were needed, that their priority has never been the safety and wellbeing of the Palestinians.

I saw the Edgware Road rally on the night of October 7th. A friend from the far left was there, and described it in his reporting as a vigil in support of the oppressed people of Gaza, and because I like him I'd prefer to think he was ignorant rather than dishonest.

Because I didn't see a sombre vigil for the oppressed people of Gaza. I saw a large crowd of young Muslims partying as if their team had just won the World Cup. I have no doubt that this was a celebration of the massacre.

And not just any massacre. Those young Israelis at the music festival? Israel isn't just heavily armed West Bank settlers, who can be pretty unsympathetic. It also has lots of hippie-ish young people who want to have music festivals for peace. They might be naive but they mean well.

That's the kind of Israelis who you'd think western lefties would feel an affinity for. But apparently not. I'd rather not speculate on the reasons why.
