Why are so many GC women pro-Israel?

This is a feminist forum. It’s in the name. I’m a feminist, therefore logically atheist and frankly anti-religion. Certainly against any kind of religious nationalism (Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, etc.)

But surely feminism is about liberation for all women, not just the ones we agree with? The destruction of patriarchal structures, not of women and children who are conditioned by them?

I constantly see snarky comments in GC articles about Gaza and dehumanizing comments about Palestinians and Muslims generally on this board. And minimizing of the suffering of the tens of thousands of people being murdered in an internationally recognized genocide. I don’t get it. It seems out of sync with the general mumsnet feeling too - I get the impression most people on mumsnet are pretty horrified by Israel’s actions.

Does anyone else get the same impression? If so, what is the connection between being Gender Critical and being anti-Palestine? Is it just that the leftist terfs aren’t so represented here?

I’m in a feminist group in Spain and it doesn’t have the same issue at all.

@ArabellaScott Your informant is incorrect. I (happily) live in a Democratic state in a very liberal city. Looking out my window, there is not a single sign similar to what you describe. Americans are clearly not monolithic.

I suspect the GC 'sympathy' to Israel is the same as it is for far right men: Islamophobia & white supremacy. They all perceive Israel as a bulwark to the 'invading' 'barbarians' they no doubt fear in the UK. So its a matter of projecting their own phobias. The sad reality is that feminism & racism are not mutually exclusive & why would it not be? Feminists are vulnerable to in group out group loyalties just like any other group.

GC thought leaders Magdalen Berns, Helen Joyce & Posie Parker (all who are supported by JKR) have voiced belief in far right Great White Replacement theory in various forms claiming that transgenderism is a 'jewish billionaire plot to sterilise white girls' in order to accelerate 'browning' whiteness.

Let's also not forget that although GC's claim to be feminists whose foundational premise is supposed to be self determination this is contradicted by their denial of it for trans people. So given self determination is conditional for them, suffice to say they don't really believe in the principle just like Zionist fascists don't. IE there's a commonality in ideological beliefs & it starts with an F & ends with a T.

You are seeing what you are, OP, because people are captured by ring-wing ideology, further inflamed by places like MN and the posters' beloved Daily Mail.

People are anti-trans (which is not necessarily the same thing as pro-women), anti-migrant, and/or anti-Palestine largely due to the same - delusional - mindset.

Believing in the factual nature of biological sex is not a ‘right-wing ideology’. What you fail to understand is that the women on this board simply cannot be bullied by childish cries of ‘if you don’t agree with everything I say then you’re right-wing’. We don’t care. Ummmmm where'd you get all that from? I've not got that message at all from viewing their output. I may have missed it but I don't recognise the message you've picked up on, and the message itself sounds mental. My conspiracy theory klaxxon is at maximum volume after reading your post. Dragging JKR in as the puppetmaster pulling the strings was a lovely touch, I'm sure she'd be smiling at that.

There is a very modern fad of linking all sorts of different issues together into one super issue. Intersectionallity - where every possible reason to claim victimhood are alloyed together to make them stronger together. But they cannot now be separated, if you believe in one issue, you must believe in all the issues. This is not optional, it is enforced.
The forced teaming of the T onto the LGB is a prime example. You don't get a choice, it is forced and enforced.

I sometime wonder what would have happened if the vaccine / anti-vaccine had gone the other way around with the left / right. I don't believe it would have taken much for those two chips to have fallen the opposite way around. I do think if they had fallen on opposite sides, that people would have just as strongly held views, just their views would have been the exact opposite. Put another way, I believe the strength of views is independant from logical thnking but is soley based on the tribalism. This is what my sides believes so I believe it. That is what the other side believes so the opposite must be true. The political sides of vaccine / anti vaccine were determined by a coin flip as far as I can tell.
