So is this an actual Australian or someone identifying as one?

Born in UK, lives in Australia.

GallantKumquat · 15/06/2025 09:00

At no point in the article does he even call himself a transwomen, only 'trans'. With the name of 'Jack'. He went out with "full makeup and a dress", so women's spaces should have opened before him like the cave before Ali Baba: "open sesame"!

PronounssheRa · 15/06/2025 09:02

If the 'alternative hub that has always prided itself on being an accepting space' is, as claimed, so accepting why would other men have a problem with a feminine presenting man using the gents?

Or is it just women that are expected to be accepting?

Ridiculous, isn't it? It's an accepting space. Nobody's going to beat him up if he goes in the men's loos.

I think this is Jack. Long-haired bloke with earrings.

Smith said: “I wish we could stop talking about toilets all the time, because that wasn’t really the reason we went to court. We went to court about the prisons, about the rape crisis centres, about the hospitals, where people are uniquely vulnerable.”

Campaigners say they have spoken to Scottish government about lack of action on prisons and schools guidance amid focus on toilets

So Jack is upset because when he puts on a dress he isn’t allowed into the Ladies.

Fuck off Jack.

FuriousAndFrustrated · 15/06/2025 09:12

I read that last night and somehow I just don't believe it happened. I certainly don't believe the bit about strangers clamouring in his defence!

fabricstash · 15/06/2025 09:12

Jack is a creep

Hoppinggreen · 15/06/2025 09:13

Cool story, just needed someone weeping and not feeling safe to get a full scorecard

BundleBoogie · 15/06/2025 09:18

I’m not going to give the Guardian more clicks for what seems like a blatant attempt to gain sympathy for this whingeing man.

Looking at his picture, I’m very glad whoever it was booted him out of the ladies. Utter creep.

We had the weeping (or crying - maybe Australians don't 'weep').

For a minute afterwards I stood crying against the wall.

Why in gods green earth would Jack think he can use the women’s loo, aside from a crashing sense of entitlement? Earrings and a frock don’t make him a woman.

RedToothBrush · 15/06/2025 09:25

Diddums.

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 15/06/2025 09:25

I don’t believe that…and i am very open to believing things at face value initially

i absolutely believe that they were kicked out of the ladies, but I do not believe that there was an official woman paid by the club to stand outside the bogs to ‘police’ them

i also don’t believe that if they were kicked out by a random woman that she said ‘its not me….its just the way things are now 😩’

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 15/06/2025 09:26

I certainly don't believe the bit about strangers clamouring in his defence!

to be fair he did say ‘I think’ at this point (so even he knows he’s fibbing)

Theeyeballsinthesky · 15/06/2025 09:27

Obvious man is obvious and belongs in the men’s

Gallivanterer · 15/06/2025 09:28

Hes a writer? Im quite surprised as I find the quality of the writing poor. Also surprised at the use of "presenting feminine" rather than "female".

RedToothBrush · 15/06/2025 09:28

Jack is so vulnerable and marginalised he gets an opinion column in the Guardian to cry about the fact that women told him "no we don't want an entitled bloke in the women's toilets".

Honest to god, is the Guardian this desparate for click bait revenue?

OldCrone · 15/06/2025 09:30

Gallivanterer · 15/06/2025 09:28

I think that means he's not even pretending to be a woman, he's just wearing women's clothes. So just a transvestite.

SinnerBoy · 15/06/2025 09:32

What a load of self pitying shite! He's so obviously a man in the linked picture. His whole shtick seems to be, "But it shouldn't include people like meee!"

The law's the law, chum. Everyone else obeys laws, or they face the consequences.

Merrymouse · 15/06/2025 09:32

He is rather demonstrating why the SC decided as they did.

Helleofabore · 15/06/2025 09:32

All the talking about pissing. Sounds rather manly.

In all honesty, when I first arrived here in the UK it was really taken aback by men telling me they were off for a pee. In Australia, I had rarely had that happen. We used to just say we were off to the loo. No need to elaborate. Yet, here I had work colleagues being rather more descriptive. But mainly blokes telling me this.

heathspeedwell · 15/06/2025 09:32

Funny isn't it how on social media so many men are wanging on about how the ruling will affect gender non-conforming women. But in real life the only people it seems to be affecting are men who are blatantly ignoring the law.
