Literally just heard this on the Real Science of Sport podcast. Great podcast, interview with Helen Joyce, the guys have being defending women's sport for years and right at the end....

'I agree with the SC judgement but.... we need to think of the TW who will be sad today.'

Aaargh!

If it had gone the other way, NONE of them would be saying ‘I welcome the judgment but we need to think of the poor women.’

Yes.

Because some feminists actually have empathy for our Trans sisters

ByMerryKoala · 18/04/2025 11:43

It'll pass. There's always a big wave of disgruntlement on MN after a step back to reality.

I do have empathy for our trans and nb sisters whose sex-based rights are now unambiguously protected should they become mothers. It's a day to celebrate for them, even if some may not appreciate it now.

How can they be your sisters when the Supreme Court has ruled they aren't women?

The trans people I know are not celebrating. They're very scared and upset about how they'll be treated by society going forward.

dementedpixie · 18/04/2025 11:47

@Micaela64 you must be talking about the Trans men as they are the females that could be our sisters!

WandaSiri · 18/04/2025 11:51

Fairly, is how they will be treated. If some men or women are upset that women also have rights and that material reality is a thing...meh. There is nothing to fear and anyone who stokes up fear and resentment should be ashamed of themselves.

All the bigots who hate them will be emboldened to abuse them after this ruling and Trans Women now face the risk of being attacked in men's toilets etc. It's very sad.

The rights they have today are the same as they had a week ago. They are still protected by the EA and people should stop scare mongering otherwise. The only difference is, it has been confirmed that the actual law, rather than stonewall law, is in fact the meaning of the EA when it comes to single sex spaces etc.

Trans people, their allies and corporate supporters should now lobby and fundraise for seperate mix sex spaces that trans people can use, if they dont want to use those of their sex.

They don't have the same rights now and can't use the same spaces they did. Stop being disingenuous please.

I can only repeat what I said above about anyone stoking up fear and resentment needing to feel ashamed.
Just stop it.

That's not stoking up fear, it's the reality. Sounds like you may have a guilty conscience for what you've done to make their already difficult lives harder.

Best pop over to a board full of men to finger way and scold them eh

I mean telling women about it isn’t going to change mens behaviour is it?

It's you lot pushing for this ruling and for trans people to be marginalised by society who've emboldened those men and put trans people at higher risk from them.

TheOtherRaven · 18/04/2025 12:03

Yes. That's absolutely what that long, extensive legal process and all the evidence and intervenors and the 88 page judgement is all about.

Have some chocolate or something.

Women are responsible for what men do. The first rule of misogyny.

Did you care when women were being placed at more risk of being attacked?

The absolute irony. 🙄 Some men don’t feel safe around other men so let’s use women and girls’ safe spaces and put all of them at risk. This ideology is so utterly moronic.

So you’d rather keep women keeping all the risk to them just to keep TW safe. Good to know.

why don’t you do what women have done for eons and campaign for safe spaces for TW to protect them from predatory males. That’s all we have ever wanted - safe spaces to protect us from predatory males.

What, from a tiny minority within a tiny minority? Not really an equal equivalence to the risk trans women will find themselves in now and trans people are far more likely to be victims of violent crimes than cis women are as it is:
