NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #12

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although at the start of the second week getting everything done in this time period was looking less certain. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Can we follow anywhere else off X?

I'm assuming this might be the most interest they have (ever?) had in an Employment Tribunal. Even if we don't get back in it is very important to file a request so the numbers are eventually counted. This trial is partly about abuse of process by a minority of "enthusiastic" folks who studied the rules and applied them. It is not an inherently bad thing - this is the sort of process that eventually got women the vote.... just saying

I find that honestly problematic given only a tiny fraction of the media have reported in an unbiased way and the media lying is one of the reasons we're in this mess. How are we supposed to know what to believe given we can't trust the media? Some of the BBC's reporting bears no resemblance to what I've listened to live in court and has given a very very different slant to the truth.

The problems are that that's unreliable and it isn't clear whether Tribunal Tweets will have access when all of the public are chucked out.

It's emails, how many pages it is depends on your font size! (30-40 I think, but it's really hard to hear NC)

Well, it's a good thing we have plurality of press in the UK and lots of varied viewpoints accurately representing reality.

Really poor show that they have to restrict access because of crappy remote access systems. I get that this will be a greater number than usual, but it's not good to restrict public ability to view in this way.

The Torygraph did an article last Feb, at which point it was 77. It's probably buried deep in the deepest bit of Mumsnet archive but there was a young female/transman who did an AMA last year(?). They were in their last year of Med School.
