NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #8

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

BU - the only information they have is that they read him as a man, may be true, but doesn't justify being unkind - not necessarily assume a lack of sincerity, if there's no evidence

I do have sympathy for Du's parents. He probably treats them as unpaid slaves as he does women.

It must be very difficult if you love someone to see them behaving like this. My kids have had toddler tantrums when they were little but nothing like this level of entitlement and disregard for others for many years, and the youngest is still in primary.

I can't read 4,000 pages of comment, can anyone give a rough guess as to the odds of Sandie winning this case? An unbiased evaluation! Trans reddit reckons Fife have it in the bag.

DrU - it can be difficult to judge sincerity - but that’s no reason to be rude to Pete!

NC - you said where he might be on his transition. To calrify - you don't say that any degree of treatment, or intention, is necessary before someone can be genuinely trans

BU - absolutlely. Some people can't have treatment, some don't think its necessary, some are comfortable in their idnetity

Is this not an own goal? How was SP to judge DrU sincerity?

He reminds me of myself taking my French oral exam at school. Getting in all the high mark phrases as quickly as possible whether or not they answered the question or were relevant 😂

I imagine he's the type of person to call her transphobic if she dares leave, threaten to go scorched earth with their indoctrinated mutuals and/or threaten to kill himself as "he didn't choose any of this"

NC - to be clear, you don’t think it’s necessary to have any medical or surgical treatment, or to be planning to do any, in order to be trans
