NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #8

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Over the threads some posters have questioned the wisdom of making Upton a party to Peggie's claim.

Well, today is the answer.

If BU genuinely thought he was a woman he'd be worried about sharing the changing room with the imaginary Pete wouldn't he?

This isn't someone who has ever thought like a woman or identified with women, or had any empathy with them.

In said upthread NC has demonstrated that the doctor is motivated to use womens spaces by his politics not his emotional and safety needs.

Is anyone sat behind Sandie in the same way that DU has his supporters?

having recently seen what she looks like, her sharp suits, and her effect on swooning FWR posters, I wouldn't mind swapping places with her

I want to be NC when I grow up. Sadly I'm 43 and don't yet have a law degree or any prospect of getting one so I may never achieve this particular goal...

On second thoughts, maybe I should just identify as her?

I'm sure the TRAs think he's doing an amazing job, getting all the talking points in.

I hope it speaks for itself to the judge, panel and observers that both he and JR are so evasive.

Sandie had no one with her her husband and mum were giving evidence and while on suspension she wouldn't be allowed to talk to colleagues about this. She faced it alone

I don't believe she is in the support group. Someone in GC circles in Scotland recognised her. Most likely just an extra chair to accommodate visitors. Having been told how hot the rooms are frankly good on her for keeping that scarf round her neck and visible!

NC - the difference rests on whether or not he's sincere. There's no way to know whether his assertion about his GI is sincere.

BU - judging someone's sincerity is quite difficult

There's still got to be cross examination on the facts, hasn't there - I'm not sure they agree on what happened/was said? Also he has to be asked why he thought her giving him privacy was offensive, and could he read her mind (for their silent encounters) And more light shone on the 'poor patient care' incident (depending what was in any new disclosures)
