NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #8

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

NC - Generally speaking women dont want to change in front of men and vice versa?

JR - How is this witness supposed to answer on this? In any case not true, local swimming bath unisex provision

NC - absolutely, but relevant to whether 2nd R harassed the C by using a CR intended for women only is what his perception of why those facilites provided separate for men and women, his expectations - this goes to his intention

Why is JR being allowed to give evidence, answer the witnesses questions and interrupt?

Love the way NC keeps saying 'him' and 'he' so clearly, it's most helpful.

Interesting that Dr U keeps denying the need for facilities to be split for men and women yet, he still d@emands to use women's!

am I the only one confused about NCs line of questionning and wondering how it helps?

JR: 'How can witness give evidence of how most men or women feel?'

How can he feel like a woman if he can't know how most women feel.

J says that a matter of fact over why there are men's and women's facilities would require expert submissions.

Wish my LC swimming pool had separate changing rooms - it's mixed use, along with the showers so I can't use them 😒
