NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #3

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

I think Russell understands full well. She's just cherry-picking convenient out of context or ambiguous fragments to suggest that Maya Forstater's evidence is unreliable. Therefore, it should be given no weight.

I think maybe she was hoping she could trip her up, having explained the same thing to TRAs it is hard to articulate.

Or maybe she is a actually just a true believer so interprets the evidence through a TRA lens?

Ranted at DH today about the woeful coverage of this, the media bias and how dangerous it is.

I think all this discussion of offending patterns is important, because it's the basis of (one of the reasons) why we have single sex spaces - because statistically, men do pose a higher risk to women (than women to women) due to increased prevalence of offending behaviours like voyeurism, stalking, sexual assault etc.

We don't cherry-pick which men we allow in a female space based on individual characteristics (my Nigel is fine), we have a blanket exclusion to ensure women's safety.

If the Swedish paper shows that even post -operative trans women retain male pattern offending behaviours, it very strongly suggests that it is appropriate to continue to consider trans women as biologically male for purposes of exclusion from single-sex female spaces.
