You see Bluey, this is why it's important not to make up stories about the other children to get them in trouble.

Bluey? You can't be serious with that suggestion Bez?

But then again.... as all good satire, it works on so many levels. Bluey being the least likely candidate for teaching children about the truth and all from what I have gathered ...

BezMills · 13/12/2024 11:23

I've watched all of Bluey and I think it's great. One of the few children's shows I can actually watch with my daughter and actually enjoy. If there's some controversy about Bluey I think it's wooshed straight over my head.

Here’s a link to the Twitter Space from last night. It’s long! I think I heard about 3 hours of it. KJK popped in and out a few times.

It's more likely to be the hateful, whiny Bing being told not to make nasty stories up about people!

BezMills · 13/12/2024 11:58

haha yeah bing has the voice noise that annoys!

I chose Bluey because it's about the only cultural reference I have for Australia these days. I mean I watch Little Lunch and Inbestigators (with my dd) too but they're pretty minor shows and nobody would get the reference I think.

Pesutto must be feeling ill
His career will die on Stupid Hill
He probably needs a headache pill
He really should have chosen chill

Instead he played his stupid games
Calling Moira horrid names
Ignoring better good advices
His stupid games won stupid prizes

Moir' in sorrow than anger
That intervew was double banger
Maybe he'll eat humble sanger
And own the fact he dropped a clanger

It seems unlikely on past form
But at least his pants will keep him warm
His overdraft will need extension
Was he created by Jim Henson

lcakethereforeIam · 13/12/2024 12:25

'What's that Skippy? Pesutto's fallen down the hole he dug for himself!'

Crafting1Queen · 13/12/2024 12:31

John Pesutto is an arse
The libel trial was such a farce
Told untruths from start to end
Dragged out 4 days on the stand

Standing up for Women, Children
Shouldn’t cost jobs or reputation
Safeguarding’s serious, it’s not glitzy
It doesn’t make you a damm nazi

Standing on steps of Victoria’s Parliament
The women were loud, clear and valiant
Men nearby who cannot cope
Shouting slurs and hate, being woke

Police, forshame, stood by did nothing
Whilst Men in Black posturing, saluting
Pesutto and ilk took their chance
Blamed women wrongly for this happenstance

Despite all evidence to the contrary
Cherry picked info went into the dossier
Kneejerk reactions, fears of TRA retaliation
Led to your downfall and own dammnation

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/12/2024 12:36

Great work!

Moira stood up to speak for the children,
The women, the ones who are being abused
Some want to extinguish women's very existence,
So Moira stood up to head the resistance.

Along came some hustlers, bad men in Black
And others came too and joined the attack
Stop women speaking! they are Nazis they cry
They must not speak, those women all lie!

The men shook their fists, shouted Moira down,
They tried to destroy her and ruin her name,
So she went to court, wouldn't play their game,
She went to court bravely and took on that man.

He thought he could beat her and grind her to dust
She stood up and told the truth, and it was just,
And all those who scream and shout, insult and jeer
Those who tormented Moira for more than a year

Were shocked and confounded when justice was done
When the judge found Not Guilty and the man had to pay.
So Moira can hold her head high once again,
She's shown she is right and true. Amen

Will these poems be going in the second book of Mumsnet poems? Who do we tag for that?

@Boiledbeetle

I think it would be the 3rd book though...

Does anyone know what Pesutto is getting at here?:

Pesutto said he was “comfortable” the judge “has not made adverse findings as to credit”.
The judgment says very clearly that at all times I acted honestly in terms of acting in what I consider to be the public interest, and there are no adverse findings as to credit on the advice I’ve received from my lawyers and the reading of the decision that I’ve been able to undertake so far.

I'm get foxkiller 'deeply technical' vibes. It's from the Guardian's Australia feed, apparently from a Press conference he did.

Weasel words, incorporating several overused and under defined political phrases - "acting in (what I consider to be) the public interest", "comfortable with", "very clearly", and the use of the word "credit" to imply "reputation".

I wonder if he's ever heard of the plain English campaign.

Wonder if it was actually a victory on a deeply technical level.

Pesutto claims that because the judge did not utter the magic words “you LIED”, it means he is in the clear…

NotBadConsidering · 14/12/2024 03:27

Pesutto is represented by the MN confused emoji ConfusedConfused favoured by some

Cailleach1 · 14/12/2024 08:10

Judgement stated John Pesutto was dishonest about some things, and some evidence he gave was untrue. I wonder if Pesutto thinks worse things could have been found out. Judgement did say he was slippery too.
