Yes he can. I’m sure Collins KC is advising him whether or not to pursue that. Maybe he’ll tell him to shut up and pay the bill before it costs him twice as much.

Collins KC is probably asking for his bill to be paid first.

Cannot copy the link for some reason. theconversation.com

Apparently “Let Women Speak’ cannot be about women. Sure women don’t even exist, except in the gift of men. It was an anti-trans rights rally: according to ‘the conversation.’

J.K. Rowling

The ‘right side of history’ is racking up a hell of a lot of losses recently, isn’t it? Congratulations MoiraDeemingMP

According to Pesutto, because the judge didn’t use the words “Pesutto was lying”, the judgement doesn’t say Pesutto lied at all!

What a tiresome man Pesutto appears to be 🙄

BezMills · 12/12/2024 12:42

I think you mean 'tiresome and skint man'

OvaHere · 12/12/2024 12:54

Fantastic outcome.

Meanwhile reverse ferreting [or perhaps reverse wombating] is going on in Australia amongst the medical experimentalists.

UPDATE: The website of the Gender Service at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), the largest paediatric gender clinic in Australia, has been slightly amended sometime over the past 2 weeks. The section re. puberty blockers now reads “largely” reversible in their effects.

skerrick - a microscopic spoon like implement used to feed single atoms into a particle accelerator. That might not be the actual definition but it is the scale we're talking about.

Oh Bez , I do love your comments. 🤣

Datun · 12/12/2024 13:41

And now I'm just imagining a spoon for atoms 😄

According to Pesutto, because the judge didn’t use the words “Pesutto was lying”, the judgement doesn’t say Pesutto lied at all!

He didn't use the words, "He is a liar," but he did say that one tranche of his evidence was untrue, which amounts to the same thing.

SinnerBoy · 12/12/2024 14:36

From MarieDeGournay's post a little earlier:

557 I have no hesitation in saying that Mr Pesutto’s evidence at paragraph 45 of his first affidavit is untrue.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/12/2024 14:37

According to Pesutto, because the judge didn’t use the words “Pesutto was lying”, the judgement doesn’t say Pesutto lied at all!

This sounds Jolyon Maugham-esque levels of interpretation of legal judgments.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/12/2024 14:38

Wonder if it was actually a victory on a deeply technical level.

IIRC a very similar website update was the first change* to happen at GIDS, after that, the house of cards got increasingly wobbly until Cass closed it down.

*outward facing change made by the T&P themselves, obvs internal whistleblowing was happening and former staff were speaking out and Keira Bell and Sonia Appleby had filed court paperwork, but the website change was the first indication that the external scrutiny was having an effect on internal policies.

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 12/12/2024 17:20

🎉 . Well done Moira and thank you for standing up for women and children.

These cases are important in a wider context as blatant lying (e g. Puberty blockers are reversible, kjk is a nazi) has been an important part of the way TRAs have undermined safeguarding and women's rights.

Skerrick is a scrap of something, a tiny bit of something, a trace of something.

I used this in a thread a while back and realised it was a word we Australian's use often and that seemed pretty unique. It is like skite is not understood here either.

LongtailedTitmouse · 12/12/2024 20:47

So a skerrick is a smidgeon?

LongtailedTitmouse · 12/12/2024 20:47

So a skerrick is a smidgeon?

Pretty much. Certainly can be smaller than the bees knees or the ants pants.

FeralWoman · 12/12/2024 22:28

LongtailedTitmouse · 12/12/2024 20:47

So a skerrick is a smidgeon?

Yes but I’ve just realised that skerrick is for specific situations. It’s for when you weren’t expecting to find much or even any of whatever it is. For example, there wasn’t a skerrick of chocolate to be found in the house. Or there wasn’t a skerrick of integrity displayed by the lying politician. Or there wasn’t a skerrick of skin that didn’t have sand stuck to it after a day at the beach.

Helleofabore · 12/12/2024 22:30

I do wonder what Pesutto is playing at not resigning though. Any Aussie posters have any insight or is it just grim determination to stay in role on his part? I would have thought he had Buckley’s of surviving a spill surely?

JanesLittleGirl · 12/12/2024 22:31

I'm glad that we can discuss the exact meaning of a skerrick whilst waiting for the earlier posters who told us that the result would be "interesting" to explain how interesting the outcome actually is.

Not mentioning any @CassieMaddox adjacent usernames by name.

or I left the house without a skerrick of make up on or I get a skerrick of work done today, I really just skived off.

@Helleofabore The next Vic Lib meeting where he could be removed isn’t until February so I guess he’s figured he’s safe until then and that everyone will have forgotten about the defamation case by then. Or he’s an arrogant shitweasel who thinks he’s better than everyone else and that the Vic Libs are lucky to have him bless them with his leadership.
