Let me know what evidence you need, I have 2 degrees and several patents to my name. I also sold my first company at 18 and now employ 23 staff across two businesses and a non-profit that funds women's shelters and phone support for women in abusive relationships.

Presumably male women are fully included by your companies.

It’s astonishing the fascination many transactivists have with women’s services, seemingly with the frequent intent to force transactivism on the women’s sector.

Wadhwa, for example, suddenly realised how important his transactivism was, soon after he’d been appointed into a position of power over vulnerable women.

Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 18/09/2024 15:47

Why will so many people, including the thread derailers here, go to ridiculous lengths to excuse bad male behaviour.

oh this again, but a crayon/chalk drawing of a guillotine with some colourful lettering is hardly a credible threat is it? What are they going to do, drag a guillotine into the city centre and ask "TERFs" to step right up?

Want to talk about threats what about all the extreme-right racists and anti-LGBT people on online places like twitter (which has virtually no moderation now thanks to EM) and kiwifarms doxxing LGBT people and posting hate all day long and making outright violent threats?

Or how about the (cisgender) pastor who left a hidden camera in a church toilet? Or the cisgender man who molested children at church?

A lot of actual real issues Rowling could use her platform for, but it always has to be trans-related somehow.

I'm your haste to centre men you have missed the point of the thread, which was JKR highlighting the hypocrisy of the Scottish Government.

More important than this just now is the outrageous behaviour of staff at a Free Speech event the Southern Belle pub in Brighton yesterday night, and hot on the heels of the class action being announced in the Dublin pub.

And yet again it includes physical assault.
60 customers harrassed.
Was anyone here at the event?

They were horrified when they saw the photo?

Bollocks.

Politicians shouldn't be attending partisan rallies, where there is such open incitement to violence against their constituents.

However, if they are misguided enough to attend and stupid enough to be photographed there, the very least they could do is to check what else was in the shot. Otherwise - it just looks like they support this hateful shite, doesn't it?

Are they really that breathtakingly stupid and naive?

JKR is pretty vocal about what's happening to women in Iran. I haven't noticed a trans aspect to that. Iran, of course, is noted for giving gay men a choice between execution and castration, which is hardly LBGTQ+ friendly.

I'm struggling to think of any situation where a politician would think it's OK, maybe even quite funny and good PR, to stand in front of a sign suggesting that anybody should be decapitated. What makes it OK to suggest this for women who want women's rights and spaces to be for females only?

Exactly. It's not as if GC women's demands are punitive and brutal. Just pretty basic low level requests for privacy and safety.

ArabellaScott · 19/09/2024 10:33

'What are they going to do, drag a guillotine into the city centre and ask "TERFs" to step right up?'

You're quite right, I don't see any assaults using a guillotine on this list of violent crimes against women and children committed by trans identifying males.

https://transcrimeuk.com/2017/11/12/male-transgender-individuals-convicted-of-violence-against-women-children/

It is possible that the guillotine wasn't meant to be a literal instruction but it does suggest violence towards women as a course of action.

I was thinking of that too, I wonder if the speaker was.

Póster.

Not sure where the accent came from Grin

I've just been trying to pronounce it.

Are you seriously defending the scumbags who say these things?

Wow, just wow.

Give your head a fucking wobble.

Two minutes of researching the context would tell you that they had no idea the placards were behind them and they were horrified when they saw the pic.

Also this is news from nearly 2 years ago.

They knew exactly what event they were at, what they were protesting about and with whom.

Lie down with dogs, get fleas.

And I am sure that these women having seen the horrific poster made very public statements about how they competely disagreed with any and all people at the event who were advocating violence against women and vowed NEVER to have anything to do with events like this or the people who attended ever again
And presumably they made such statements immediately after they saw the photo before there was any negative publicity or outrage about it

Or not

That would have been a sizeable number of MSPs from SNP and the Greens. It was very much a political event. And there were many signs that were aggressive. One suggesting the Prime Minister should be pegged, iirc, a few calling for violence against 'Tories'.

I find it increasingly disturbing how people consider calls for political violence justified. You'd think politicians would, too.

Christinapple · 19/09/2024 13:28

Autumnweddingguest · 18/09/2024 11:11

Oh, absolutely. The last thing we would want to take seriously is a threat to decapitate women, held up by a man who raped and murdered a new father. It's written on cardboard so clearly, his activism is nothing for us to worry our pretty little heads about.

Wake up.

The sign said "TERFs", not women. Men can be "TERFs" too as stated like Linehan or Musk.

Where on earth would one buy a guillotine anyway? ebay? And what if people don't want to put their heads into it? And how would you carry or transport one since they are heavy and like 30ft tall? It raises logistics and practicality Qs if you think about it.

I've seen actual threats however on twitter and the TERF forum kiwifarms I would see cause for concern that the police should investigate.

And if the sign had said 'decapitate trans people' instead of 'decapitate terfs', would you feel the same? I would be as horrified in that situtation as I am with the sign which was actually workshopped, made and displayed at an event.

Because I don't think violent threats are acceptable.

And now you mention Kiwifarms, I've never been on there, I presume you're on there, taking a stand, or are you just content to scold us on here?

popeydokey · 19/09/2024 13:57

""Women's safety is paramount for the Scottish government" says Minister for Equalities"

Paramount means 'more important than anything else'.

This just fundamentally isn't true, is it? Do they think people believe them or do they not care that everyone knows they're dishonest?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/09/2024 13:59

No, Linehan and Musk are not "TERFs" because they are not radical feminists. The term "TERF" is a misogynistic slur. They were advocating for the murder of women they don't agree with. Hope this helps.

From what I've seen they're constantly on it, lurking I imagine.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/09/2024 14:01

Also Kiwi Farms as a "TERF forum" lol. That would be news to them, I imagine.

I would not take a crayon drawing of a guillotine carried around on a piece of cardboard credible regardless who it was supposedly "targeted" at.

I'm aware kiwifarms is an extreme-right forum that targets and doxxes LGBT people and posts violent threats. They seem to be big fans of JK Rowling and the LGB-Alliance which is interesting.

As for Twitter, many of the far-right on there seem to have lost interest in trans people and are now obsessed with hating on India now for some reason. Elon Musk has completely ruined that site.
