so using correct sex pronouns is an act of violence but holding a sign saying ‘decapitate TERFS’ isn’t? 🙄

Make it make sense 🤷‍♀️

GailBlancheViola · 19/09/2024 14:13

I've seen actual threats however on twitter and the TERF forum kiwifarms I would see cause for concern that the police should investigate.

And have you reported them?

Did you report all those threats from the, in your view, golden days of Twitter pre Elon? You know the multiple death, rape, sexual violence and violent threats towards JKR and any other woman who dared to say that TW are not women? Oh those golden days where women were doxxed and had their jobs, safety and livelihood threatened for saying women were adult female humans, those golden days when women were summarily banned from Twitter for daring to go against the TRA diktat.

Did you go on Twitter and tell those people off? Since you are so against violence and threats against anyone I am guessing you must have done, didn't you?

I've made a couple police reports for hate-motivated threats against LGBT people or against immigrants (there's a lot of that on twitter atm), yes. As for making report to twitter I think that's now a waste of time.

I haven't seen any "death threats" towards the harry potter woman. I have seen plenty of people call her a TERF/bigot/homophobe/transphobe/obsessed with genitalia which frankly I think is a reasonable observation of her postings over the past 5 or so years.

And noone has ever been banned from twitter for misgendering anyone, even before Musk bought it there was barely any moderation.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/09/2024 14:37

Strange, given how online you are and how prevalent they are.

Thelnebriati · 19/09/2024 14:38

I haven't seen any "death threats" towards the harry potter woman.

''In the message about the author, Mullan said: “I'm going to kill JK Rowling with a big hammer”, adding: “JK Rowling is so horrible, I hate her so much.” The following day, he posted a voice note saying he wanted to “kill Rosie Duffield with a big gun”.''

And didn't Graham Linehan get perma-banned from the pre-Musk Twitter after threatening to kill 2 woman at an LGBT event IIRC? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thelnebriati · 19/09/2024 14:43

Got any evidence for that claim? Post it now.

Well I guess you wouldn't with your eyes so blinkered by your own prejudice.

I have seen plenty of people call her a TERF/bigot/homophobe/transphobe/obsessed with genitalia which frankly I think is a reasonable observation of her postings over the past 5 or so years.

No surprises you think that way.

And noone has ever been banned from twitter for misgendering anyone, even before Musk bought it there was barely any moderation.

That is a complete untruth.

popeydokey · 19/09/2024 14:45

I saw a person who identifies as a woman post something along these lines somewhere else. Can't remember where.

Which posters are posting in good faith and engaging with actual discussion, I wonder to myself. Which posters deserve our energy and attention?

I know that very little energy is required to refute inane and tedious whataboutery but we should reserve it anyway.

popeydokey · 19/09/2024 14:48

I think when you find yourself thinking "this just fundamentally isn't true, is it?" repeatedly in one thread it can be quite eye-opening. And exhausting.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 19/09/2024 14:48

Christinapple · 19/09/2024 13:28

The sign said "TERFs", not women. Men can be "TERFs" too as stated like Linehan or Musk.

Where on earth would one buy a guillotine anyway? ebay? And what if people don't want to put their heads into it? And how would you carry or transport one since they are heavy and like 30ft tall? It raises logistics and practicality Qs if you think about it.

I've seen actual threats however on twitter and the TERF forum kiwifarms I would see cause for concern that the police should investigate.

What's the difference between a sign calling for people to be decapitated and an "actual threat" then?

It's actually disgusting that you are minimising this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/09/2024 14:49

And noone has ever been banned from twitter for misgendering anyone, even before Musk bought it there was barely any moderation.

Not of death and rape threats to women by trans rights activists, no. Plenty for "misgendering" because I can assure you I've been sanctioned for it myself, like most other women there with gender critical feminist views. And yes, many women and some men were banned.

OldCrone · 19/09/2024 14:49

I would not take a crayon drawing of a guillotine carried around on a piece of cardboard credible regardless who it was supposedly "targeted" at.

You seem intent on ignoring the fact that the man holding the sign has been found guilty of rape and murder. These crimes were committed before the event where he was holding the sign. Does the fact that this sign was held by a murderer not make you think it's more of a credible threat?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 19/09/2024 14:51

lifeturnsonadime · 19/09/2024 14:05

It makes perfect sense once you understand that these people say everything is the opposite of what it actually is in reality.

Trans women are women.
Trans men are men.
Trans women are female.
Men can get pregnant.
"Decapitate TERFs" is not a real threat.
Misgendering is literal violence.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 19/09/2024 14:52

I would also like an answer to this question.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 19/09/2024 14:52

Would be a different story if JKR was holding the same sign stating 'decapitate trans'. The keyboard warriors wouldn't be able to type fast enough.

The 'F' in 'terf' stands for Feminist. Men cannot be feminists. Only allies. So, no, men cannot be 'terfs'.

We know most trans activists are males who are really Mens Rights activists. They are violent, dangerous and aggressive. They've caused a few women to be bashed up, another, a 72 year old woman, to have her eye socket fractured. We know they mean their language and rhetoric. They are testosterone-fuelled dangerous terrorists and thugs, proving they retain Male Pattern Thought process.

TheMarzipanDildo · 19/09/2024 14:56

Christinapple · 18/09/2024 10:46

I don't know which one held up the children's drawing of a guillotine, but if it didn't say "TERFs" on it JK Rowling wouldn't be posting about either of them.

btw Men can also hold gender critical views or be "TERFs", Linehan and Musk being 2 notable examples.

Sorry to feed the derailer, but I’d like it known that I don’t want Graham Linehan or Elon Musk to be decapitated either. I don’t like Musk but I don’t want him to be murdered because I’m not a terrible person. It’s not difficult.

Yet she has never once posted anything transphobic or homophobic. Considering the MRAs advocate for chopping off mens cocks and amputating womens breasts, and also call women 'uterus havers' (as well as bleeders, menstruator, birthers, etc etc etc), it's rich that you accuse feminists of being obsessed with genitalia. All evidence proves it is your side utterly, utterly OBSESSED with genitals.

And noone has ever been banned from twitter for misgendering anyone, even before Musk bought it there was barely any moderation.

You might want to tell the MRAs that as they boasted and gloated every time they got a feminists' account suspended or shut down for misgendering.
