oh this again, but a crayon/chalk drawing of a guillotine with some colourful lettering is hardly a credible threat is it? What are they going to do, drag a guillotine into the city centre and ask "TERFs" to step right up?

Want to talk about threats what about all the extreme-right racists and anti-LGBT people on online places like twitter (which has virtually no moderation now thanks to EM) and kiwifarms doxxing LGBT people and posting hate all day long and making outright violent threats?

Or how about the (cisgender) pastor who left a hidden camera in a church toilet? Or the cisgender man who molested children at church?

A lot of actual real issues Rowling could use her platform for, but it always has to be trans-related somehow.

Whataboutery: a classic of the genre.

What do you mean?

What about all the molesting/voyeurism/rape crimes happening daily that aren't anything to do with trans people? Why bother with those?

OldCrone · 18/09/2024 10:35

He's a convicted murderer (now hoping for a more lenient sentence as he's under 25).

He was making threats about murder before he actually killed anyone. Were those credible threats do you think?

Fife rape and murder sentencing delayed for further reports

The pair were due to be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Is Cameron Allan trans @Christinapple? It doesn't mention that in any of the news articles about him.

popeydokey · 18/09/2024 10:40

Ignore the derailer. This thread is about the tweet in the OP and the people involved. (I assume the derailers deliberately don't start their own threads on the things they are desperate to discuss for very important reasons. )

CocoapuffPuff · 18/09/2024 10:44

What about, what about, what about.....

Goodness, it's tedious.

I don't know which one held up the children's drawing of a guillotine, but if it didn't say "TERFs" on it JK Rowling wouldn't be posting about either of them.

btw Men can also hold gender critical views or be "TERFs", Linehan and Musk being 2 notable examples.

EasternStandard · 18/09/2024 10:48

Ha very good

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 18/09/2024 10:48

What about the Lumos charity.

What about the female lawyers she got out of Afghanistan.

What about Beira's Place.

What about the other stuff that doesn't get put on Twatter.

@Christinapple you've admitted you've not read one of her essays, yet derail these boards constantly with your obsession about trans people. It's wearing a bit thin. Can you find me one post where she posts about transmen (females).

Or do you think it might be a male problem. There's quite a few problematic ones on the news right now. Couldn't you direct your energies into tackling these? If not why not.

arethereanyleftatall · 18/09/2024 10:49

JKR is so wonderful, clever, funny, articulate, brave, an absolute legend. Even if you didn't agree with her, you can't pretend she's not supremely intelligent.
I'm at the point now where if anyone slags her off, I just assume theyre either jealous of her, or haven't read a single word she says/writes and are simply believing the nonsense that some moron said she's said.

Cameron Allan, convicted murderer and rapist, is holding the sign. (You'd know that if you bothered to read the thread.)

The two SNP women seem to agree with his murderous intentions. Otherwise, why would they have their photo taken with him and his sign?

CocoapuffPuff · 18/09/2024 10:50

I'm with you. I presume stupidity and laziness with JK haters. Nobody's proved me wrong yet.

lcakethereforeIam · 18/09/2024 10:54

I'm not sure why pp thought we needed to be reminded that men can be abusers. That's kind of the whole point. That's why we don't want them in our spaces.

JKR is amazing.

Agree ignore the derail attempts.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/09/2024 11:07

Men can't be TERFs because men are not radical feminists. HTH.

timeforanewmoniker · 18/09/2024 11:09

Two minutes of researching the context would tell you that they had no idea the placards were behind them and they were horrified when they saw the pic.

Also this is news from nearly 2 years ago.

Hoppinggreen · 18/09/2024 11:09

yeah but non trans people do bad stuff too, and Right wing people are bad and no terfs were actually decapitated that day so SHUT UP WOMEN!!!!!!

Let me know what evidence you need, I have 2 degrees and several patents to my name. I also sold my first company at 18 and now employ 23 staff across two businesses and a non-profit that funds women's shelters and phone support for women in abusive relationships.

Oh, absolutely. The last thing we would want to take seriously is a threat to decapitate women, held up by a man who raped and murdered a new father. It's written on cardboard so clearly, his activism is nothing for us to worry our pretty little heads about.

Wake up.

It's a shocking idea that websites and sources outside of Mumsnet exist, I know, but I promise you they're out there. They even have reliable fact checkers and a range of different viewpoints and political leanings to choose between.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 18/09/2024 11:25

Oh behave christ 😒

its a man holding up a sign (which one assumes he made, I see what you are doing though with the whole ‘childs drawing’ thing) threatening violence to a group of people

it says a lot that you think thats ok

RufustheFactualReindeer · 18/09/2024 11:30

Does no one else check that the photo is ok when someone takes it?

i always do….i could look awful in the photo 😳

RufustheFactualReindeer · 18/09/2024 11:32

Its not a credible threat because he is crap at drawing 😳

ridiculous
