Gosh. I remember this person from a few years ago when Starbucks was doing its Mermaid biscuits campaign. A local councillor (?) raised her concerns about safeguarding at Mermaids and he had a real go at her.

NB: I can't see any other source for claiming Dr Elly Cannon (who is a journalist and GP) is associated with Educate and Celebrate.

Elly Barnes founded it. She has a doctorate. I wonder if the DM will withdraw this.

Archived against DM edit.

MrsOverton - I'd add every relevant NHS board, panel, or committee to your list.

If they can't bring themselves to actively recruit somebody with GC perspectives, then it should be mandated that there is a person whose role it is to provide the heterodox viewpoint.

I can't believe safeguarding is reduced to being heterodox but this is the current state of NHS culture in this area.

All the stupid women that have enabled these arseholes 😡

Groomed women.

'He couldn't possibly do that. He's a wonderful family man with a wonderful record in public service.'

They need this cover. They know who to use as their flying monkeys of protection.

Of course, this is also something you are taught as part of decent safeguarding training. But is conveniently instantly forgotten.

I wonder why the Mail article isn’t accepting comments? I’d like to read them.

Introducing laws forcing women and children to get undressed in front of male strangers and to remove all bodily privacy/ ability to say 'no' to men's sexual demands is at the heart of trans activism.

Children of Transitioners even raised these safeguarding concerns in their first ever attempt to tell MPs what was happening. No one can pretend they don't know the safeguarding issues for children.

Violence against women and sex discrimination still exist. Women need reserved places, separate spaces and distinct services.

And are in direct conflict with existing voyeurism laws.

Why were voyeurism laws created?

They just can't help it, can they? Why oh why is this so predictable?

I really hate starting to think that the arenas of "queer" and transgender activism are attractions - honeypots - for men with sexual perversions and criminal intent. But oh dear, how predictable ....

I share your concerns. Many of us do.

Probably as it's sub judice. Quite sensible not to have comments, imo.

Then there is a deafening silence. Till the next time they can call a woman a bigot.

Speaking of which, where are the usual posters on here to tell us what bigoted rubbish we are spouting? Tumbleweed when one of their heroes is unmasked.

As ever, FWR was alert to expecting something back in Feb. 24 but as early as 2019

Inevitably, Tatchell mentioned as patron here. Should we countdown to his comparable Hazell Dean statement?

One of the issues that's repeated a number of times in this awful article is how these adults deliberately encouraged children to overcome their natural instinct for privacy - openly shaming, coercing and encouraging children to expose their nakedness and to sexually touch and be touched adults.

It's worth considering that at the root of trans extremism is the demand that women - and especially children - overcome their natural instinct to privacy from the opposite sex - just as seen in the article - and repeated across our society:

So what do we make of the NHS staff who write policies that focus on wedging male sex offenders in hospital wards with women and girls?
Of the senior officers in the College of Policing who write policies enabling men claiming to be women to strip search women and girls?
Of the staff in schools who implement mixed sex toilets, dormitories, changing rooms and showers for children?
Of the politicians who describe adults insisting children should be safeguarded from all this as "engaging in a culture war"?
Of the charities who have walked away from children being gaslit and psychologically groomed into believing their bodies are flawed but a sex change will cure them?

On the assumption that the majority of the above are not actual paedophiles, what motivates them to erode children's boundaries like this?

Absolutely .

See also calling whistleblowers 'pearl clutchers', 'prudes', and the insinuation that women who protest/question are just in need of a good 'seeing to' - I recall Sally Hines saying something along these lines although I can't find the quote.

As with the BBC, who have tagged infinity number of puff pieces about drag queens' skincare regimes with 'Pride' but fail to do so when it comes to this story.

If a news organisation is only reporting positive pieces, and deliberately evading negative news, then this is not journalism, but propaganda.

Ripx4nutmeg has a post on X saying:

"On June 6, just six days before Stephen Ireland was arrested on numerous child abuse charges, Surrey Police visited local school Woking High with his organisation to take part in "Pride engagement" work. Hazell Dean has said she attended a Pride event with Ireland on June 6."

https://x.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1824700193490571384

In other words, if this is correct, Surrey Police went into a school with Ireland while they were simultaneously investigating him for child sex abuse.

From the excellent SeeninJournalism:

'This is not tagged ‘Pride’ on BBC Online. The volume of stories promoted under that tag is now well known. The tags Pride, LGBT and Transgender People seem to exist only to push heartwarming stories of heroism or victimhood. Not hard news like this.'

I'd like to think Lisa Townsend will now refer Surrey Police for an investigation that is conducted by an outside body.

As for Hazell Dean and her statement | post, it takes on a particularly amplified stench of being self-serving. As recently as June 6, she was facilitating an activity with very young children. I respectfully argue that she needs an extended period of reflection to consider her actions. Also, some social media management for just how long she thought this piece of information would take to be revealed.

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 11:57

Echoes of other child abusers- eg Jimmy Saville, Challenor- friends in the police and amongst powerful people/ MPs.

Thanks for that @MrsOvertonsWindow

Once again, I really regret the silence of the Guardian on this - publication in the Daily Mail will only increase the level of homophobic frothing of elements of the far right.

The Guardians failure here isn't an aberration. It represents their ideological beliefs.

theDudesmummy · 17/08/2024 12:41

I suppose they will say that they didn't want to alert him to the investigation by rowing back their engagement with him. The whole thing stinks though.

theDudesmummy · 17/08/2024 12:46

Surely the Guardian is going to have to report on this sooner or later? It looks like becoming a significant news story. How can they justify ignoring it? (Are they scrambling around right now trying to decide what to do?).

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 12:58

The police have deliberately and knowingly used abusive men to 'advise' them if they say they are trans for years. The Times or Telegraph reported on it several years ago- I think the link is in the Cots police article linked in one of the previous posts.

ArabellaScott · 17/08/2024 13:07

Well, for fuck's sake, Good Morning Britain used Kelly Maloney - known wife beater - to chit chat about whether male boxers should hit women or not!
