Gosh. I remember this person from a few years ago when Starbucks was doing its Mermaid biscuits campaign. A local councillor (?) raised her concerns about safeguarding at Mermaids and he had a real go at her.

Ripx4nutmeg has a post on X saying:

"On June 6, just six days before Stephen Ireland was arrested on numerous child abuse charges, Surrey Police visited local school Woking High with his organisation to take part in "Pride engagement" work. Hazell Dean has said she attended a Pride event with Ireland on June 6."

https://x.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1824700193490571384

In other words, if this is correct, Surrey Police went into a school with Ireland while they were simultaneously investigating him for child sex abuse.

OMG

And why are the police going into schools to talk about Pride? Aren’t they supposed to be tracking down and catching criminals?

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 13:36

Intimidating child victims so they don't complain about abuse by men who say they are trans is far more their thing at present. (10 years ago it wasn't).

Imagine being a child of a transitioner or CSA victim in school where even the police tell you to celebrate everything trans/ pride related and if you speak up everything you say will be greeted with hostility.

Remember a few years ago when the CPS published school guidance saying any girl who objected to a man in girls toilets / changing room when she was undressed and vulnerable would be guilty of a hate crime?

theDudesmummy · 17/08/2024 13:36

@FrancescaContini I also really don't understand how this fits into "policing". Teaching tolerance and acceptance of diversity is surely something teachers are doing? Sex Ed is also a job for teachers.

Just reminding the students that the state is willing to use its monopoly of violence on you if dare question the ideology or send a mean tweet.

I am disgusted that the Guardian hasn't picked up this news at all. All over Pride issues usually.

not the bad Pride though. If you relied only on the Guardian for your news you would, still, never have heard of WPATH, Cass would be something you stepped in on the pavement and all would be well in bizzaro land. Useless fuckers-criminally so.

Well, yes. I also thought police forces were short of resources having had many thousands of jobs cut under the last government.

Well, for fuck's sake, Good Morning Britain used Kelly Maloney - known wife beater - to chit chat about whether male boxers should hit women or not!

Yes. Once again, we’re brought face to face with the recognition of just how much
men hate women. It’s just so depressing.

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 14:34

Personally I am really sad that women and children can no longer trust the police, and that police enabling of men who say they are trans has done so much damage to trust on top of the dodgy officers that already existed.

Two police officers

Over 1,500 police accused of violence against women and girls

Of the resolved cases, only 13 officers were sacked, National Police Chiefs' Council data shows.

I'd be interested to know how Surrey Police is organised. Were the police officers who went Stephen Ireland into schools talk about Pride the same ones who were investigating him for sexual offences against children? Were they the same ones involved in a prolonged campaign of harassment against Caroline Farrow and subjecting her to trumped-up charges for wholly absurd offences? Or are we talking about three groups of police officers, apparently not talking to each other?

Around 10 years ago, I worked with a woman who'd been doing some consulting for Surrey Police. She told me with absolute conviction that a lot of DV cases ended with the murder of the woman happened because the perp "just snapped" after being subjected to endless verbal criticism by the victim. Who'd told her this?

Detectives with Surrey Police. Imagine living in a violent situation with them as your protectors, eh?

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 15:47

The police published a report in Feb 2024 telling themselves to stop victim blaming in the context of male violence against women and girls.

Correction it was aimed at police by the IOPC (office for police conduct).

Wasn't there a male employee of the IOPC outed for abusing GC women on twitter?

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 16:58

Don't know if this is who you mean.

No - but thanks for reminding me of this dismal case. I can'r recall the details - just that this abusive man was outed as working for a police regulatory body.

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 17:25

Oh I remember- you are right, he's current staff, or was recently. I can't remember his name either but he's on twitter!

Guess who else is giving a platform to Kellie Maloney?

No, go on, guess...

Chariothorses · 17/08/2024 17:37

As background for those who don't know, there's a Mirror news article where Maloney describes how he tried to strangle his wife and his children burst in terrified due to the ongoing abuse (link above so won't post it again unless anyone can't find it).
But at least the |Guardian is clear about who they want to platform.

ArabellaScott · 17/08/2024 19:29

Stephen Ireland here, talking about 'unconscious bias' and how this means that we should not trust our instincts. Video should go to 1:04.

Going back to this earlier revelation. Wondering whether Woking High School have reviewed the interactions that happened between the adults promoting "pride" and the children in the school? Hopefully there's a clear record of and parents have been reassured that children were safeguarded at all times?

If I was a parent of children at the school I'd be demanding an immediate and clear response about the nature of all the conversations / speeches and interactions - especially with younger children.

Here is Ireland at a conference:

'Posted my pledge for the community at Surrey’s 1st LGBTQ+ Conference for carers of children and young people. “I will do all I can to support schools, colleges, universities and any other carer by sharing my knowledge of the community and connecting them to support groups to”.'

This was organised by Surrey Council.

It just makes me so fucking sick.

Reading those reports of what happened in the past and seeing how it is being repeated in the present is soul destroying.

Thank you all, for your detailed and evidence supported posts.

GailBlancheViola · 17/08/2024 21:03

It is history a la Saville et al repeating itself, so much for lessons being learnt.

DuesToTheDirt · 17/08/2024 21:21

Remember a few years ago when the CPS published school guidance saying any girl who objected to a man in girls toilets / changing room when she was undressed and vulnerable would be guilty of a hate crime?

I've lost it now so can't link to it (there are so many threads on this stuff) - but there was a post in the last couple of days explaining how the police would react 10 years ago if a man was reported in the women's toilets. He'd be ejected from the premises, and if he tried to return he risked arrest.

It just beggars belief that in such a short time this has changed so drastically, to the complete detriment of women and benefit of men.
