Women's rights general conversations - Thread 9

Continuation of Thread 8.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

They agree and also agree that sex stereotypes are bollocks, and that they know mammals cannot change sex! And yet in the next conversation they'll trot out [thankfully only some of] the usual Righteous thought-terminating cliches Confused

Hopefully they'll make their minds up in the next couple of years. I'm sure you and your DH kindly set them straight if they come out with complete bollocks.

I think that I was lucky being an early generation X because, or so it seemed to me, we were too close to the 60s as teenagers to truly believe we'd created sex, or protest or progressive politics, but also aware that progressive politics were on the ropes and a lot of hippies had turned bad.

Obviously, like every generation we were arrogant about a lot of things and couldn't face the idea that our parents did sex - shudder - but I think we were a little less blinkered than Z appears to be now. Something else that seems to be the case, but I'm old and out of touch so am probably wrong, is that there appear to be fewer "tribes". Goth, punk, soul boys/girls, indie kids, new romantics (briefly), mod resurgence, etc and so on. Lots of dressing differently than other tribes to show your "unique" identity and finding an outlet for teen angst and a search for identity within those tribes or without if you felt you were above that sort of thing. It seems as though all of that sort of identity searching has gone but I'd love to be told I'm wrong and that I'm just not seeing it or my fashion obsession has missed other markers and that there are numerous tribes and not just this toxic gender identity anti science being rammed down their throats taking over everything.

I came across this earlier

Although GI isn't mentioned it ticks all the boxes she mentions. I'm pretty sure that PBS has drunk the gender kool flavor-aid. Some points are so broad that virtually anything that has its own terminology could qualify as a cult; gardening, birdwatching, MN. Also, although single charismatic leaders aren't defunct, I think the SM algorithms possibly replace them to some extent.

How Cults Use Language to Control | Otherwords

If there's one thing cult leaders do, it's talk. A LOT. Language is an integral part of how cults keep their members bonded, isolated and obedient.Otherwords...

Right, found this

https://archive.ph/spXOb arrrrgghhh-hive link!!!

Jeremy Purkis had sat on a panel overseeing the case of a Christian teacher who claimed she was wrongfully sacked after opposing a primary school’s transgender policy.

The teacher, who remains anonymous, argued “her dismissal had been unlawful, discriminatory and due to her religious beliefs” and was bringing the case against the school and Nottinghamshire county council.

I was just expecting fuckwittery, I wasn't expecting it to involve transgenderism. Off the top of my head I don't know if it's one that's been discussed on FWR. Will this increase the costs for the teacher? It'll certainly mean a, probably massive, delay and these cases seem to take ages anyway. Poor woman.

As so often this is half hilarious and half deeply disturbing. The case of the gender fluid dachshund:

I wonder if the dachshund is @ColintheDachshund from the Blue stocking pub. He seems ownerless and permanently in the pub. This article would explain why.

Poor dog.

Lovely gesture from the Olympics: https://x.com/Sorelle_Arduino/status/1821526384541417797?

Kucinghitam · 10/08/2024 07:18

The Olympic boxing furore has really put the spotlight on one of my (frequently repeated) overarching themes:

Many many individuals, both men and women, see only the male humans as the real proper actual people with real proper actual feelings and desires and rights. The female of the species are only partially-sentient service bipeds, allowed only enough sentience that scolding to make them humbly comply with their duties to the real people, and assigning guilt/shame if they don't do so with the correct attitude, is viable.

I wonder if someone can help me - how do I contact MNHQ about moving a thread off FWR? Is it via the Report Post button?

NoBinturongsHereMate · 10/08/2024 11:05

Yes, report any post in the thread and explain in the report box.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 10/08/2024 11:05

[Double post removed]

Snowypeaks · 10/08/2024 11:09

Edited to update

It seems to have been moved already. At least I now know how to do iit.
Thanks, NoBinturongs

YouTube though I wanted to see this. From a US MtoF detransitioner. It's a few years old so may have been posted on MN way back. No wife or kids, thankfully. He mentions Malaga, admits it might be a fit for him.

there's some sort of buzzing in the background. It's not your device.

He's still detrans at least as of a few months ago. I know from Tinsel there can be binge/purge. I've not watched more recent postings so I hope he's stayed off that waggon. The comments are interesting, other detrans, tw, tm. A few saying people should have 2 years to think, I doubt they envisioned the situation in much of the US getting even laxer.

He posted about his transition to, if anyone wants to watch them. I didn't.

That is nuts. Nothing turns kids off faster than talking about parents having sex.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 12/08/2024 22:18

There are rather a lot of Olympic boxing threads, so those not keeping up with all of them may have missed this absolute corker of an excuse.

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5139210-what-is-a-woman?reply=137494456&utm_campaign=reply&utm_medium=share

Not a man, but "a woman whose chromosomes had been altered by living in the mountains."

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 13/08/2024 09:47

And in other news 2+2=petunia. Who knew?

Well now, here's a blast from the past

https://archive.ph/KpqNA FSS taught me what pegging is 😃

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/arts/article/creator-defends-her-sex-education-show-for-children-2ztwgqbmt

I wanted to put it on the FSS thread but couldn't find it. I remember the glossary, her protestations ring a little hollow to me. Wish I could read the comments.

The comments are what you'd hope - absolute horror at the silly and dangerous woman.

SinnerBoy · 13/08/2024 17:36

I'm having trouble with archive.ph - am I the only one?

Just in case:

lcakethereforeIam · 13/08/2024 17:49

From what I remember, there was a report their was a full rehearsal, with children in the audience, and their was a bit where the cast stripped off 'as much as they were comfortable'. The cast had adult men, perhaps none of them would have been comfortable getting their tackle out in front of an audience of children. However, as the show never had the planned performances, she can't possibly know.

I googled 'The Family Sex Show', trying to find one of the MN threads about it. It was startling how quickly links to incest porn came up (I never Google porn...you'll have to take my word for that...so it wasn't my search history skewing the results). So, yeah, the title of the show was a bad idea, as was the concept and execution.

anyolddinosaur · 14/08/2024 08:54

In the news today - the public dont like seeing men with their shirts off. Yet someone wants to defend taking everything off in front of children, what went wrong in their brain.

mach2 · 15/08/2024 12:12

There's a wicked whisper that Jeffrey Marsh has been invited to the Democratic National Convention.
